I read this book back in 2012-14, it may have been published in 2010, and I've been looking for it for the last 4 months. It has slight Pete's Dragon vibes, and very strong Jinx by Sage Blackwood vibes (a good thing!). I believe the kid is a little boy (orphaned maybe?) and the bear/s are not aggressive towards him. The bears have longer fangs, like they were crossed with saber-tooth tigers. I believe they're on the cover of the book as well. I can't remember the little boy's name, but I'm pretty sure the story was in third person. I'm not even sure if I read the entire book (it was from the school library, and it was almost summer break). This book clung to my brain for some reason, so if you can help me even with so little information, I would greatly appreciate it.
