Goal: Reduce TBR by 3 books
I rolled a 6 (5 + 1). I'm going to use it for books I added to my TBR shelf in the month of June (the sixth month of the year). I went to my TBR-library owns shelf and sorted by date added. I think I'll start with A Change of Heart, which I added in June 2016.

For this monthly challenge, roll two dice. Using the number you got, pick a book from your TBR list. For numbers 10, 11, and 12, you can use either number or both. You decide how many books you want to reduce from your TBR pile using the number you rolled.
Example: you rolled a 7. You can read #7 on your TBR list

Do we only roll once and read books during the month that fit or do we roll after each time we complete a book?
Alright, so I got five and four:

And also one book from the fifth page of my tbr list: The French and Indian War: Deciding the Fate of North America, by Borneman, Walter R.

When I go to my Goodreads list of TBR it starts with book 3 and counts from there? Any idea why it doesn't show a one or a 2 TBR?
In this case do I go by GR's counter or say book 9 is really the seventh book?

That is really weird. I've asked my fellow moderators if they know why your TBR list starts with 3. I'll let you know what they say.
For now, I would go by the Goodreads' counter. It would get confusing if you were always subtracting 2 :)

So my goodreads to-read list starts out with two zeroes before the numbers start, but my library did have my 9th book, so I added that to my library holds:

I plan on starting a new series of mystery novels after I read the current one, so I might get around to reading the ninth of that series, but it'll be awhile :p.

Thanks - that's what I thought but didn't want to start off incorrectly.
As we remove books we read the count will continually change anyway.

I'm in. I don't know if I will manage more than one book since I work full time and am working on a part time PhD. I often have trouble choosing my next book when I am not in the middle of a series. This sounds like a fun idea. If it works well, I may continue to do it beyond February.
My first book will need to wait until I finish some large assignments for next week that involve about 1300 pages of reading and 20 pages of writing AND the current book I am reading (Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue).
I rolled 5 + 1 = 6.
 I'm in. I rolled 1 + 5 = 6 and will read Make Room! Make Room! published in 1966.
I'm in. I rolled 1 + 5 = 6 and will read Make Room! Make Room! published in 1966. I may keep this method beyond February as I often have trouble deciding what to read next.
Pleasure reading is usually limited to my commute and when I need to block everyone out at work. So I am not sure if I will manage more than one book under this challenge.

Help! The 7th book on my GR TBR pile is now #327. It showed I read it today - when I haven't yet, All I did was click on the link to read about the book and see if I wanted to read it or go with another option. I was able to delete where it said I read it but if I go to the book it shows it was on my TBR in 2014 and again today. But it still shows I only have 325 books in my TBR pile on GR. Luckily I had already put the info in my post.

The book may be on your shelf in two formats. On the "My Books" page, there is a find duplicates link in the left hand column near the bottom. You can find and delete multiple copies of books on your list.
That can happen when you click on a TBR book in a different format from the one on your list. It also happens when you enter a giveaway for a TBR book in diff't format. It's a bug that GR has yet to fix.

Sounds fun, in fact this year I made a 2029 Reading list and on that list there is 136 books on it, thanks to using the random number generator I've read for the month of January 21 books ,2 where unfortunately DNF but they still counted towards my goodreads reading challenge since I've read some of them, anyway it's a fun and nonstress way of picking books to read , because you don't know what the book is going to be until you find the number or numbers.

You use the same number for the entire month, but you can use that number in multiple ways, i.e., page numbers, publication date, and so forth. I really liked Charlotte's idea of reading books from the 8th page of her TBR list.
Although, once you read #8, the next book on the list would become #8 :)

I am bad about buying books when I have no time to get through them. I read mostly 90% through Audible/Kindle with most of the other 10% not being books. It is too easy to pick up the daily deals or freebies. Oh and those free books every month for Prime or Audible members. Woohoo!
