What Are You Reading (2019)?

Miss Beatrice Wormsley is hoping this season to find her match. Gossip that has followed her throughout her childhood of her mothers indiscretions has it difficult with the ton. Ignatius (Nash) Harringdon, Viscount Challoner, tries to avoid the season and all the false trappings and wishes to be out in the country instead. but after meeting miss Wormsley, he finds not all woman are boring and tedious. He very much enjoys talking about important topics other than the weather and the idle gossip. They find interest and passion between them. But unfortunately there is another suitor who want Bea only for her dowry. He comes off charming at first, but later we find out what a cad he is. Many twists and turns in the book which makes it a very fun read. Unfortunately I did not care for the ending. The consummating of their marriage seemed like a last minute add on. I enjoy steamy romances, but this felt like it was disconnected somehow. If there would have been something following it to pull the end together, it would have been more satisfying to me. 3 stars

A wonderful, sweet, intriguing story of Ellie and Jasper. Ellie is trying to bring up her siblings after her mother died with her alcoholic father, plus running the ranch. Jasper, her childhood sweetheart runs the general store. Ray is a bully who wants Ellie as his wife to get more land and money. He dislikes Jasper very much and is constantly bullying them both. A very emotional book, filled with love, family, forgiveness and redemption. I would recommend this book. 5 stars

I picked up this book as it was a thriller and it was Halloween time. I did not read the first one, but I can't wait to. This book gave me the creeps and I found it hard to put down. I sat on the edge of my seat the whole time. About a detective who left the force with PSTD and a serial killer who only wants the detective and will go, literally, to nothing to get John Corbin's attention. It was a very graphic book, but Boiani made it fit in the story so wonderfully. There is nothing pretty of murder like this. If you are into great suspense, thriller books, pick it up. I didn't feel like I missed anything not reading the first book, so I think it can be a stand alone book. David Boiani gets gives great descriptions of the characters and their history. Just a few spelling errors, but it was fantastic. I would give it more than a 5 star review if I could

A very amusing, clean, suspensful and romantic story. Brandon and Morgan have dispised each other since they were children. Always giving barbs to one another that gives their parents grief. Now that Luke, Brandon's brother and Morgans sister are betrothed in an arranged marrieage, they are being forced by their families to put this feud aside and act like civilized people. Someone now is trying to kill Roz, Brandon, Morgan and others. No one knows who it could possibly be. Although they have all survived the attempts, it is only a matter of time. In this quest to find out who the culprit is, Brandon and Morgan are discovering they have more feelings for each other than just hatred. I found this story very exciting and fun to read. Although I knew the "who dunnit" early, it was suspensful, and romantic. Unfortunatley, the downside is the proofing was awful. Many times the characters were incorrect in the dialogue. Other than that. I loved it. 4 stars

A single mother buys the Sebring Hotel and moves herself and her two boys in. Using her late husbands life insurance, she hopes to make a new start with her life and her relationship with her boys. But there is more to this hotel than meets the eye, literally. Bizarre instances begin to occur. Graphically murdered people are showing themselves. Strangers in all ways are coming to stay. I really enjoyed this suspense and intrigue of this book. I was surprised at the low stars in the reviews. I really enjoyed it. The ending was fun, but I felt it left me wanting more about the murderer and the relationship he had with the hotel. I thought it was great for the holiday season. 4 stars

I’m listening to In Pieces by Sally Field, which is already fascinating.

Lucille and Sarah are twin sisters. Lucille is very shy and timid and cowers to her fathers wrath. Where Sarah is strong and independent. Their mother has retreated to her room for years to escape her husbands remarks to her. Lord Huxley is a tyrant and bully who only cares in passing bills in the House of Lords to further fill his pockets. He will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Even to blackmailing Augustus Sutton, the Duke of Whitehall to marry his daughter Lucille. Sarah knows her sister will never withstand a man like Augustus, so they connive a plan to switch places and Sarah marry the Duke. This book was full of twists and turns, suspense and clean romance. I enjoyed the story, but I was taken aback by all of the proofing errors. Many times the correct character was not used. Getting past all the mistakes, it was a fun book. 3 stars

Wonderful Historical-Romance w/ a touch of Suspense
My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Why is it every time moving one of the B.A Paris’s books I get to the end and it takes me forever to finish it because I don’t want to finish the suspense is killing me but I need to find out what happened but I also don’t want the story to end catchup and needs to end so another beginning can begin to have a review much later

Two single parents, two totally different children, puppies and a sweet romance all rolled into a great book. A warm and fuzzy holiday read. Jenni's 10 year old son is in a wheelchair after being pushed down by an unruley little girl who is full of anger. Chris has finally been awarded custody of Jenna, after her mother over doses. Jenna hates Chris and the whole new life situation. After both children are suspended from school, Chris decides to home school both of them. Both parents are hoping this will be healing experience for both. Add in a puppy named Storm into the mix. Will this help melt Jenna's heart and feelings? I really enjoyed this little story. Yes, its sappy, predictable and a clean romance, but that's what I need this time of year in holiday stories. 5 stars

Lucy Rodgers had headed out west to run away from her awful past. She runs the saloon in town and has met the pastor's son Matthew. Everyone, including Matthew's parents, assume that because she runs a saloon and doesn't speak much of her past, she is a low-life, wanton woman. Quite the opposite as Lucy is very much a Christian woman. The trials and tribulations of their relationship and upcoming wedding is what the book is about. A clean romance, fast reading, warm and fuzzy story. I did find the story very choppy and didn't flow well. But all in all, a nice holiday read. 3 stars

A sweet, clean romance with lots of warm and fuzzies. A good, fast holiday read. Takes you away to a ranch with horses, a huge house decked out for the holidays, did I say horses? Vance is divorced and trying to start a new on-line dating app, run the ranch and care for his sister who is recovering from a fall. He hires a live in nurse who was ironically, in a bad relationship from an on-line app. A new RN Chiara, is anxious to fill her temporary employment and go back home to Kansas. Horses and charming men have a way of changing her mind set. I gave it only 4 stars review as I felt it a bit too sappy.

A short story of two opposites meeting on Christmas Eve in San Francisco. Department store Henry Landon saves a pregnant woman, Elizabeth Donovan outside the bargain bins during an earthquake and her going into early labor. Elizabeth's husband died of pneumonia complications months ago, and she is just trying to get by. It was a fun, quick read, but I found it a bit too sappy and fast for me. A good book to read sitting by a fire, drinking hot cocoa. 3 stars

Sarah Baker is a refined southern bell who answers a mail order bride request in Texas. Her betrothed is a Dr. who does missionary work and she could do her nursing. How surprised was she when he discovers Boone is a violent, abuse drunk with 4 children. Everything he wrote about was a lie. After Boone is arrested and taken to jail for hitting Sarah, U.S. Marshal Carson Harlow talks her into staying with the children in the run down cabin until sentencing is done. The children's mother died of small pox months before and their father neglected then. Sarah knows nothing about caring for children. The children are less than thrilled to have her around, even though Carson continues to tell her what great kids they are. This is a clean, sweet, suspenseful, historic western romance with many twist and turns in it and sub plots in it. But it all flows very well together. I particularly enjoyed the way Sarah and Caron bantered back and forth. I would certainly recommend this book.

Love conquers all Historical-Romance w/a touch of mystery
My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Wonderful, entertaining and laugh out loud funny
My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

This story had so much potential, but it just never came to be. It read like someone's personal journal. I kept waiting for something to happen. Some main changing event. But I was left not feeling I got it. The dialogue, descriptions and interactions were so repetitive that I found myself scanning through the pages to find something exciting or interesting. All I read was about a truck, highways, coffee, a grocery store. It was so boring. I have never given up on a book yet, but I wish I had. Reading this was a waste of my time. One star review is even too much.

A short but fun read for the holidays. Julianna is a school teacher in her home town. Her sister Stephanie calls to say she is surprising everyone by coming home from Hollywood for Thanksgiving and no is to know. Julianna is unsettled about this as she has been dating her sisters old boyfriend Matt for 6 months. Julianna has a feeling that once Matt see's her perfect sister again, he will forget all about her and run back to Stephanie. It was an interesting ride to see how all of this worked out. A predictable romance, but fun just the same. 4 stars

This book was out of my usual genre, but I really enjoyed it. I was captivated on the detailed description of the medieval customs surrounding the pagan yule celebrations. A clean, romantic story. Senna is at the end of her morning time after her beloved husband Lyran passed away. Although he does come to her in thoughts often. She is the village healer and midwife who is teaching her daughter the ways. The Magistrate of the village wants her for his wife, and she is not interested in his menacing or abrupt aggressions. She has awful dreams of him. Her late husbands cousin Jarl has always been in love with Senna. A wonderful love story with magic, intrigue and romance. 4 stars

Charlene Williams lives in her own hell with a very abusive husband. When her husband Dale accuses her of having an affair with mailman, he takes her to the families, isolated, old dilapidated ranch house. Badly beaten with no heat or water. She wonders why God has not heard her prayers for help. Even though she doesn't want to die like this, she accepts she would finally find peace. In the blink of an eye she awakens in a warm, different place. But it isn't. It is the same ranch house, only 110 years in the past. Billy Page found her roaming around the pasture and takes her home to his grandmother. The both of them have no idea how to deal with this woman. A romance sparks between Charlene and Billy. And then Charlene finds herself back into her present day. This is my first read by this author and I just loved it. It was edgy, but not too deep. She touched on some gritty subjects, but did so tastefully and tactfully. It was a clean time travel romance with much suspense. I would recommend this book to you. I really enjoyed it. 5 stars

Lady Melissa has been betrothed to the Duke of Avertin since she was a child. The Duke is a cruel, rogue of a man who doesn't hold back in telling Melissa she must accept his time with mistresses to control his lust. He is sickened by the man and her parents will hear nothing for her complaining. Oliver Quinn is a musician who has found that his father has been murdered. He tries to find out with the Magistrate who would do such a horrendous thing to such a kind man. In his grief he finds the friendship of Melissa at the engagement ball for her and the Duke. This is a wonderful steamy historical romance with many twists and turns and keeps you wanting more. A story of love, family, forgiveness, emotion, mystery and steamy romance. I really enjoyed the book very much. 5 stars
