A Game of Thrones. Enjoyed it a lot. It's a big book, but it was over so fast. Definitely getting to the rest of the series as soon as possible.

When he has a solid release date for the last book I'll start a reread.

The last I read about an update, he still hasn't finished The Winds of Winter and has started nothing on A Dream of Spring.

Yeah I know. It is going to be a long wait I'm thinking. I hope not.

I don't think I'm going to even do that. I bought my GOT hardcover the day it came out. The last book came out in 2011. I'm done. I watched the show instead.

Over the weekend I finished Smoke & Dagger
. It was a cool prequel to a trilogy of books that I very much enjoyed.

I have my doubts that Martin will ever finish another Game of Thrones book.
Growing Things and Other Stories
Paul Tremblay can write great short fiction too! The first half of the book has the best of the stories, but there was only one story I didn't like in the whole collection.
Finished reading Once Upon a Time in the Weird West a week ago but forgot to mention it here. Really liked the mix of science fiction, steampunk, horror and dark fantasy overall. Each story, most of which were written by women, also contained some male/male romance which I think was handled very well. My only complaint is that the bulk of the stories dealt with the protagonist meeting their significant other for the first time. I would have liked more stories about long established couples.
Finished American Elsewhere yesterday. I thought it was pretty damn good. More of a sci-fi and mystery story than horror but I enjoyed it.
This week I've finished The Cold
and The Last Plague
.Loved both of them, now looking for something to sink my teeth into next.

If you like a good monster story, try Hunter Shea
I just finished Dracul
by Dacre Stoker and I thought it was outstanding. The atmosphere, premise and execution were all excellent.

I finished up Hellrider
late last night and while I enjoyed it, I found it to be rather repetitive and a bit too long.

Since you like that, you might also like Theodora Goss' In the Forest of Forgetting.
Right now I'm almost done with Lauren Beukes' The Shining Girls, which is a riveting time time-travel murder mystery.

Really great, fast-paced unique thriller."
Is it better then some of her other books? I have a hard time getting into her stuff.
I just finished Hometown by Matthew Keville. It's a young adult horror story set in 1994. Has anyone else read it?
Just finished The Croning by Laird Barron. I think this is the first book since Pet Sematary in high school to keep me up at night! Hugely impressed by Barron. Can't wait to read more.

I'd rank it as one of her best.

I really loved it! This is the first time in a while that I feel like I've discovered a new favorite book and author. Excited to check out all the Barron weirdness out there.

It's so great when you discover an author you love and then finding out they have a number of novels or short stories for you to catch up on. Total bliss!

I finished up Hollow Kingdom
on Friday. It wasn't horror, but it was AH. MAZE. ING. Picture the zombie apocalypse, from a domesticated crow's point of view. It was hilarious and extremely well written and I would recommend it to anyone. 5*
I just finished listening to Jonathan Maberry's The Dragon Factory which is the 2nd in the Joe Ledger series. It was excellent. 4.5/5 stars

I also read this book by author, Hunter Shea which was excellent and I gave it five stars! Monsters/creatures are definitely his specialty and he never disappoints!
by Hunter SheaAnother book I read about three weeks ago was this one by author, Duncan Ralston. Five star read as I was glued to my kindle as the more I read the book, the harder it was to put down!
