Lana | 54 comments Hi there! I had a few questions about the prompts, I was hoping someone could clarify them for the challenge.

1st, Prompts that ask for Trigger Warnings/Taboo content, must the warning be included in the Goodreads blurb? Or will out explanation of how the book satisfies the prompt be sufficient?

2nd, For the prompts, "Multiple, multiple POVS" and "Ensemble, multiple authors", is multiple classified as two or more?

And lastly, if after we complete the challenge, there happens to be a book that does not satisfy the rules, will we be notified of the error, and have the chance to rectify it (if there remains time until the end of the challenge)?

Thanks for your help! I'm having a lot of fun with these prompts :)

Lana | 54 comments Does anyone have any recommendations for the "X-Mas:Book set during christmas" prompt?
I'm having a hard time trying to find something that isn't a novella.

Hi Lana! Sorry for the late reply, I had missed your comments :(
Here are the answer to your questions:

1. The trigger warning should be mentioned in the blurb. It's not compulsory that the words "trigger warning" are included in it, but the blurb should mention the topic that the books deals with. (I hope that what I said makes sense, if not tell me and I'll try to explain better!)

2. Yes, multiple is classified as two or more POVs/authors

3. Yes, absolutely. If you complete your challenge and there is a book that doesn't satisfy the criteria, I will tell you and you'll have the chance to rectify it!

Let me think for a minute about the recommendations for the X-Mas prompt and I'll post you a list! :)

I'm glad you're having fun with the challenge!! And sorry again for the late reply!

Sofia | 17 comments Hi!
If a book is tagged both new-adult and adult or new-adult and YA, for example if a book has been tagged new-adult 150 times but also has been tagged adult 200 times. Can I use it for the challenge?

I can't go after the age of the characters either because the characters are immortal in some of the books.

Hi Sofia!
Yes, if a book is tagged "new adult" you can use it for the challenge even if it's also tagged ya or adult

message 58: by Kim (new)

Kim | 11 comments Is there a character limit in our reply box? I am trying to complete all three books of each letter and by the time I write all the information I want to include, I am running out of space. It tells me that I am limited to 12,000 characters. I have taken out as many extra words as possible and made my explanation of the book a very short sentence with abbreviations.
Can you increase the amount of characters allowed? I still have about 10 books to read and add.
I am really enjoying the challenge..

Hi Kim! I’m glad you’re enjoying the challenge! Unfortunately, the 12,000 limitation character is not a problem I can solve, because it’s Goodreads policy and we cannot do anything to change it. Every post you write on Goodreads cannot be longer than 12thousand characters. To solve the issue, you could write a second comment and split your challenge. In the first post you can write something like “you can find the second part of my challenge in a second comment” and in the second comment you can write all the books that cannot be included in the first post.

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, there aren't many male authors who write romance, but here are a couple of names that come to my mind:
- Sylvain Reynard
- John Green
- Daryl Banner
- Jay Kristoff
- Scott Hildreth
- J.D. Hawkins
- Jacob Chance
- Nicholas Sparks
- Logan Chance

BrownSugar Hi there,

I am working on my 2019 challenge and am wondering if books in the following series count as new adult:

- New Species, Lora Leigh
- Interstellar Brides, Grace Goodwin
- Stronghold, Golden Angel
- Mountain Masters & Dark Haven, Cherise Sinclair
- Wilde Ways, Cynthia Eden
- Alien Dragon Shifters/Alien Mate, Cara Bristol
- Steele Ops, April Hunt

TIA!

Chiara | 531 comments BrownSugar wrote: "Hi there,

Hi BrownSugar, here's the answer to your question:

- New Species, Lora Leigh: I've checked all Lora Leigh's series but I couldn't find one called "new species". Is it by any chance "Breeds"? https://www.goodreads.com/series/4078... If it's this one, it's an adult romance so no, it doesn't count

- Interstellar Brides, Grace Goodwin
- Stronghold, Golden Angel
- Mountain Masters & Dark Haven, Cherise Sinclair
- Wilde Ways, Cynthia Eden
- Alien Dragon Shifters/Alien Mate, Cara Bristol
- Steele Ops, April Hunt

I've checked all the other series you've mentioned, read all the blurbs and saw the tags and they're all "adult romance" so unfortunately they cannot be included in our challenge.

Anything I come across is seems to be adult historical romance.

If you go to the section "Browse" and select "Explore" to your right you have the section "recent award winners" and you can choose NA books if you explore a little bit!

Thanks for the suggestions, but these all seem to be adult/erotica and I don't think that fits the criteria!
I'd love some more recommendations for this prompt!

Anyway, I've checked and the book is tagged "retellings" so it's ok if you use it for the challenge!

I'm so sorry if I didn't reply to your request, but I didn't get the notification.
Here are some ideas for the prompt "universe":
- The Surviving Trace by Calia Read (I adore the entire series!)
- The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
- Bringing down the duke by Evie Dunmore, which released this year. The book is tagged adult but it can be considered new adult because the heroine is enrolling in university
- Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon
I hope I was able to help you find something suitable..I'll try to think of more books on the topic

For example you can check RITA awards titles or other famous literary awards and see if you can find a new adult book that you'd enjoy reading. (once again so sorry for the very late reply but Goodreads didn't send me any notification for all these messages)

Kenz The Dragon Queen (kenziethedragonqueen) | 4 comments If someone chooses the ‘easy’ or ‘hard’ level, are they able to pick which prompt of the three available for that letter of the alphabet they want to use? Or does it have to be the first prompt if you pick easy?

I was also wondering if you had to do the prompts in order, or you you could do the alphabet in random order, so long as you kept track and did them all?

Chiara | 531 comments Alessandra wrote: "Sorry, do I have to sign up somewhere or just start reading?"

Hi Alessandra! Here's what you need to do to join the challenge:

1. Go to the challenge page: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
2. Copy the Challenge Prompts list (it's the second comment you find on the link above and it's called ""Challenge Prompts")
3. Past the Challenge Prompts list in a new comment and indicate which level you're choosing (easy, hard or insane)
4. Find NA books that satisfy the prompts you've chosen
5. Read the books during 2020 and edit your original post as you go along to keep track of your progress

If you have more questions, please feel free to ask me!! :)

Hey Kenzie!
1. You can choose which prompt for each letter you want to use
2. You can read the books in any order, the important thing is that you keep updating your original post with your progress :)

Hi Suzanne!
You mean how you can add book covers and/or book links? Or other pictures in general?

message 91: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (floridaminnie) | 695 comments Both.

message 92: by Chiara (new)

Chiara | 531 comments If you want to add books covers/links, here are the instructions you need you follow:

Q: How do I add the cover and/or link of a book in my comment?
A: To add the link/cover of a book in your comment, you have to:
➔ Click on “add book/author” link in upper right of comment box.

➔ Make sure that the label "Book" is selected (see red circle in next picture)
➔ Select “cover” in bottom of add box (see red circle in next picture). In case you want to add the link of the book instead of the cover, you need to select "Link"
➔ Type the title of the book you're looking for
➔ Press the "Search" button (see red circle in next picture)
➔ Find the book you're looking for and press "Add" (see red circle in next picture)

If you want to add pictures you find online (such as gifs for example), click on the upper right section of your post --> "some html is ok", and then copy and past the code to add an image (< img src="blablabla" width="40" height="100" alt="description"/>)

Then you copy the link of the gif you want to add (for example you can find gif on https://giphy.com) and you put it in your line of code, between the " "
If you need to add your personal images, first you need to upload them online, on a website that stores pictures for free such as, for example, ibb.com, and then copy and past the link ad I explained above.
If you need more information let me know.

message 94: by Chiara (new)

Chiara | 531 comments Nikki wrote: "How do I make my prompt list comment hidden as spoiler like you did for yours? Thanks!"

Hi Nikki!
to hide all your post (or some of it) as a spoiler you need to insert
< spoiler >
(without the spaces between the <>)
at the beginning of the text you want to be hidden and then insert
< /spoiler >
(without the spaces between the <>)
at the end of the text you want to be hidden.
To see this and other html allowed by Goodreads, you can click on the "some html is fine" section that you can find on the top right of your post while you're writing/editing it.
I hope my explanation was clear. If you have more questions feel free to ask me!
