Will Once - somewhere and back again
Oh Will, that's great!Let's break 1000, okay?
I really think that new cover was a great idea.
How much did it cost you?
I got you 2 of them :)A colleague in work and an amazon forum member who I had on ignore as they are horrid posters.
The cover came from fiverr and a very good studio called Pixel Art. I can't remember exactly how much it cost but it was around $25. It definitely needed it. There is no way I would attempt a DIY cover after that experience. The marketing for this free campaign is costing me a little under $200. I wish I had done it a couple of years ago.
1,000 looks achievable. At the rate we are going, we might even get that before supper time tonight.
We'll celebrate each 1000 with a small tipple, shall we?Or perhaps a smaller increment as they're only small tipples?
That 25 bucks was money well spent. I hope the $200 is as well.

Gee, I've not been in Amazon in ages.
Hasn't changed, has it?
Giddy heights for me. The scale on the Amazon sales report keeps changing - from 1s to 10s to 50s to 100s. It's now reading in 200s.It will have to come down with a bump at some point, but for now it's still climbing.
745.
Good thing I bought a screw top. No idea where the corkscrew is.Right. We need a party atmosphere in here.
GL, streamers, please.
I'll go get the scented tea lights,
Just read this Will, there are some hideous warnings in it about marketing!https://libbabray.wordpress.com/2015/...

Vicodin.
Is that a euphemism? It's a new one on me ;-)We were just off 2,000 at midnight when I went to bed. We're currently at 2,664 downloads.
On Amazon.com we are #1 in general humour and #66 in free books.
On Amazon.co.uk we are #4 in fantasy/ contemporary
On Amazon.de we are #1 in english books/ komiks
Staggered.
Yup - agreed. The marketing helps too. It's almost a form of good spamming. The marketing companies connect your book with people who have already expressed an interest in reading that kind of book. In some cases, the marketing company publishes your details on their websites. Some send out newsletters and emails directly to readers.
Here's the site that cost me $100:
http://www.freebooksy.com/
If you scroll down the page, there's little old me.
And this is what they offer - website, daily email, facebook.

They have a shade under 80,000 readers who are interested in books about fantasy/ paranormal. The giant in the marketplace is bookbub with a list of more than 1 million readers. But it's priced accordingly! Maybe next time.
I just scrolled through the first page and the only book that didn't make me want to gag was your's.

Update: 355 downloads for today, taking the total to over 3,000. It's been a slower day - it looks like the advertising peaked on day one.
Peaking too early is a common problem for us blokes. We're used to it ;-)We might get a few more over the weekend. It doesn't matter too much because the total is much more than we expected.
Then I've got to turn my attention to the launch of the next one. Busy, busy, busy...
It's the morning of day three. The number of downloads has fallen to 662 - more than I was hoping for when I started, but way down on Thursday's 2,664.https://willonce.wordpress.com/2015/1...
