Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Here was go again.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments That doesn't make sense.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Expecting me to make sense makes no sense.

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Television cookery stands accused of being pornographic...

Warning - may contain traces of sauce.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Dunno if I'm hungry or horny.

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Oh dear, I have to confess to stuffing a mushroom just over a week ago… Does that make me some kind of pervert?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Probably.

message 61: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Did the mushroom enjoy it?

message 62: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments I'm assuming so; it embraced the flavours that had been inserted into its frilly cavity :~/

message 63: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Yes, but it's so hard to tell when they're faking...

message 64: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments It did get moist, though, and didn't complain.

message 65: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Not complaining is normally a good sign.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Mmmmmmmoist.

message 67: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments The sainted Delia says that you should always wipe mushrooms and never wash them. Which for some reason has always given me a very odd mental image...

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Can't understand that thinking. They're grown in shit!

I wash them!

message 69: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments But that would mean disobeying mistress Delia. I could not possibly do that. She might punish me. Again.

message 70: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | -183 comments You have nothing to apologise for.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments 50 shades of mushrooms? What next??

message 72: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Seeing as everyone seems to be having a baby at the moment, today's post is my letter to a newborn...

message 73: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments In another forum, the blog about babies started a conversation about 3 am. So here is my ode to 3 am.

You can tell where you are in life by your relationship to 3 am...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments How about unemployed insomniacs?

message 75: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Continuing the theme about the link between pornography and cookery, here is an apology about artichokes....

Yes - I've been there! There is something particularly dismal about the early hours when you can't get back to sleep no matter how hard you try.

The weirdest 3 am for me was during one of the storms in the 80s. The fire brigade woke us up because a tree had been uprooted by the wind and was leaning over towards our London flat. And because they wouldn't let us back in the flat we had to wander the streets looking at the damage that the storm had done to cars, walls and houses.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Michel Roux is pretty sexy anyway!

message 78: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments I have to agree! Especially when artichokes are on the menu ;-)

message 80: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Me too!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Up early and no new blog to read with my coffee.

It's just not good enough, Will.

message 82: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments I know, I know. Falling down on the job.

The thing is ... I did write a blog for today. But when it was finished, I decided that it was too long (even by my standards) and too serious. It would be one of those where you would say "sheesh ... can we have a funny one for a change".

But if you like I can do requests - just for you. Give me a subject and I'll give you a blog.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oooooo!

Okay!

Ummmmm

Let me think...

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Not gonna make this easy for you.

Your topic is...

The many uses of dice.

message 85: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Challenge accepted!

I'll do that one tomorrow. For today, here is a continuation of the artichoke theme...

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments You attended a meeting at my school, then.

message 87: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Too many meetings and too many post-its stuck on walls...

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Marketing humour: take a look a PopCo, I think you'll like it.

message 89: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Thanks - will check it out

message 90: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments A blog about dice, just for Patti.

A bit more serious than my normal stuff.

message 91: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | -183 comments I liked this blog about dice, many people do actually live by numbers. I know many people who justify how they think by quoting numbers.
My daughter was born on 03.03.93 and 3.03. Three is a lucky no for me and my hubby.
We also believe in multiples of three, we didn't chose this number it just came up again and again in our life, if that makes senses.
I had a friend she would only wear 6 glass bangles not 7 or 8. If one broke she would take them all off.

I wouldn't want a roll of dice to make my decision for me, I would rather decide my fate myself.

message 92: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments But here's the difficult question - did the number 3 really come up so often in your life, or did you notice it more because you were looking out for it?

The long blog that I wrote the other day (but decided not to post) was all about this. We tend to notice the things that stand out for us more than anything else. That makes it seem that they are happening more often than they really do.

Maybe I will post that blog after all.

message 93: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | -183 comments Yes it would be interesting to read that blog.
No we didn't look out the Number. All our main events happened around these numbers, if that makes any sense.

message 94: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments I'll post that one tomorrow morning.

I'll need to do a bit of editing first. It is currently part of a bigger blog about good versus bad conspiracies. I'll strip out that part, just for you, and then do the rest of the conspiracy blog as a stand alone a few days later.

message 95: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | -183 comments Thank you very much, actually I read your big discussion on science vs religion that was interesting lol

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Have you read The Dice Man, Will?

message 97: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Luke Rhinehart - yes, an old favourite. But I thought it a little too clichéd to use in the blog.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've not read it. Tried it as Dave keeps mithering me to read it but I couldn't get into it.

message 99: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments I don't think it has aged well. It has a very seventies feel - and that was the decade that style forgot.

I liked it because of the way that he bases his life around the dice. It's an alternative way of doing things and probably no worse than some of the alternatives.

Quite possibly it's more of a classic because of what it says than how it says it.

message 100: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yes, it's very dated.
