I remembered reading this book a couple years back I think it was around 2012, I don’t have that much details but it’s a series I’m sure of it

Also it might be about a girl whose boyfriend died and she’ helps them solve their murder

It's been a long time since I read it and I don't know if the details match, but maybe the second Remember Me book, Remember Me II: The Return, by Christopher Pike?
