Moll Flanders
Far from a maddening crowd

And 2 non-fiction - need to see if library has either of those NF

Unless I can use a book I bought them (based on amazon records) but may not have added to shelves...

Yea, I don't see why you can't use the Amazon records... it's still your TBR with set dates :)

Meanwhile, I have 11 books (currently reading 2) and have told myself that I'm not allowed on start playing new edition bookopoly (to start 1 Dec, as usual) until I've finished MM19 soooo... I'm thinking a reading sprint (or readathon) is in order lol

Anyone else keen for a reading sprint for MM? I need your support or I'll keep reading other (non-MM) books ha ha ha

Do these other challenges finish in Nov or Dec?

Ideally, I want to do this in November (ie. before new bookopoly ed)

message 78: by Lisette (last edited Oct 30, 2019 03:23AM) (new)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Yes all challenges end in december. I've already made an overview of the books I need to read to finish up Moving Mountains and Lost & Found.

I think it sounds perfect to do the reading sprint in November.

I've just got to get past my son's birthday first lol - stuff to prep!

Here's my needs:
MM - 5 books
Series - 10 books
Found - 8 books, but 3 in progress right now
Lost (old) - 1 book

So a total of 21 books still to start with 5 of those on hand.

I know that I will finish more of PnM, but I am content that those games may roll over to next year.

message 81: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Sure, Tien. Though I'll probably already make a start on it next week, because why procrastinate any longer?

Great overview Bea. I haven't even counted what I need for pick and mix. I'm hoping the books I need for the other challenges are enough to cover it.

Lusie wrote: "I haven't even counted what I need for pick and mix. I'm hoping the books I need for the other challenges are enough to cover it."

Some of mine will do just that Lusie. I know that I will finish more of PnM since I have cross-planned books with other challenges. I have 8 PnM challenges to complete and will aim at finishing up 4. More would be good...but not easy.

message 83: by Susan (new)

Susan | 3756 comments Mod
I've actually finished Moving Mountains, but am not doing as well on some of the other challenges as the rest of you.

I still need to finish 2 for Lost, and when I do that will complete Pick 'n Mix for me as well.

But I fear there's no way I'll finish Seriously Serial. I need 7 more numbers, but only #6,7,8, and 11 can I do with a single book. For numbers #17,18, and 19, I'd need a number of books each to add up. And for many series, I'm at the level of reading #2 or 3 or 4, so they don't add up very fast.

I'm happy to participate in a readathon, but I won't get much reading done during the last week of November. (Thanksgiving week here in the U.S.) I wonder whether it would work to say each of us will pick two weeks in November -- for example, Nov 17-30 (for you), or Nov. 3-16 or 10-23 (for me, and probably Lusie since she wants to start sooner). Or does that make it too complicated and reduce its effectiveness?

message 84: by LynnB (new)

LynnB | 1769 comments I have 1 for MM, 4 for Lost, and am afraid I won't even get Found started.
Fortunately, the one MM book is the same book as one of the Lost books; unfortunately, it's a very dense non-fiction on ethics. I have 25 pages done on it this past week ... very slow reading!

I have a beta reading to do that's due mid-Nov plus I'm so close to finishing SRC (I haven't finished one for many years): in the middle of 5 & need to read 3 more so I'm hoping to get all this one by mid Nov, maybe...

2 of the books I'm currently reading for SRC are also for MM19 so I'm still reading for MM19 anyway :)

Excluding books I'm currently reading, I've got 8 books left to complete MM19 and 3 books for PnM. I'm actually pretty well on target but just excited that I can see the end of the line ;)

How about a compromise then: 11-24 Nov?

message 87: by LynnB (new)

LynnB | 1769 comments After 80 pages, I finally gave up on the ethics book. I've liked his other writings, but this was in notes when Hitler ordered him hung and it is put together by editors. Just too dense and fragmented. So, that completes my list.

LynnB, congrats of completion!

For those of you who DNR'd books and those who didn't but wanted to, I look at it this way ~ at one point you thought you wanted to read a book...and you gave it a try. Whether it was the writing, the story, or just that it's time in your life was not right, that book had a chance. That's all anyone could ask.
