Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed my 4th book - Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. I had a difficult time connecting with this book in the beginning, but about a quarter of the way through, i became intrigued and by halfway, I was completely hooked! It is so well-written with really odd, interesting characters! Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars

message 284: by Megan (new)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed my 6th book - Boy Erased: A Memoir of Identity, Faith, and Family by Gerrard Conley. I have mixed feelings about this memoir. The writing is good, and I'm glad the author was able to realize his dream. I did not enjoy the jumping around in the story - it made it less cohesive. What he experienced was terrible, but I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it really didn't. I grew up in a relatively middle-path church and was educated in very conservative schools, so this also brought back some of the fights I would get into and the crap conclusions supposedly religious people would jump to about anyone who was different. I'm not recommending, and I'm not rejecting this book either. 3 stars

message 299: by Phillip (new)

Phillip Ratliff | 9 comments I’m on my 10th of 10. Revising up to 15. I had set a goal of 35 for the year but thinking I could hit much more.

My one concern in raising the goal is that I’m about to start a graduate course with a lot of technical reading. This tends to zap my reading for entertainment.

message 300: by Megan (new)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed my 7th book - Beastly by Alex Finn. I liked this contemporary, YA telling of Beauty and the Beast. It got a little schmaltzy at the end, but overall, it was entertaining. I particularly appreciated the growth she showed in the main character. Worth reading! 3.5 stars
