Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed my 8th book - Educated by Tara Westover. I'm blown away by this book. Apart from Westover's beautiful writing and efforts to be as accurate as possible, the way she relates her history is unflinching. I definitely found a few parallels in her book that resonated deeply. Above all, I admire her greatly for being able to find her own mind and voice it so clearly. Definitely worth reading! 5 stars

message 323: by Megan (new)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed my 9th book - Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler. Maybe it was the author's plan, or maybe just her writing progressed, but the writing was half-formed at the start and became much clearer towards the end of the book. Either way, it made for a confused beginning. Like I said, she might have been mirroring the progression of the main character, but I did not find it incredibly enjoyable. I did like the description of the restaurant life. and her descriptions of food, taste, and drink were impeccable. I'm intrigued enough to check out the show. Worth reading. 3.5 stars

message 327: by Megan (new)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed my tenth book - Belong: Find Your People, Create Community, and Live a More Connected Life by Radha Agrawal. I wish I had this book when I turned 25 and moved to So Fla or turned 30 and pulled out of my work-a-holic phase. But on my own, I've been lucky enough to create my own tribe, and I already employ many of the tools the author suggests. For me, it was validating but not incredibly enlightening. However, for those who are younger or just moved to a new place, this is a good starting point. 3.5 stars
