Yay!

Ruth Lanton (ruthla8) | 177 comments I've just found quite a few books with "beast" or "the beast" as the title:

Beast
Beast
The Beast
Beast
The Beast
Beast
The Beast
Beast
Beast
Beast
BEAST
Beast
The Beast
Beasts
The Beast
The Beast
The Beast

Quite a few "beauty and the beast" books as well.

Rachelnyc | 186 comments I told myself I wouldn't research the advanced prompts since I'm already overextending myself for 2019 challenges but it doesn't hurt just to do a little planning just in case, right??

I'm surprised at just how many options there are since you would think writers/publishers would try to avoid being confused with another book.

Anyway, IF I do it, I'll probably go with

The Golden State
Golden State
since both are on my TBR (there are also a few others with the same title if anyone is interested!)

And just to have options:

Invisible Man
The Invisible Man

The Idiot
The Idiot

Sarah (sezziy) | 901 comments I was looking at Ruby Red for the African author prompt and came across:
Ruby Red
Ruby Red
Ruby Red
Ruby Red

That said, I am considering bending the prompt and going for a similar title but same content or a book published in two volumes.

Janet Cripe (jcripe) | 39 comments I'm going to read Dark Matterby Michelle Paver and Dark Matter by Blake Crouch.

Robert (book-book-goose) | 1 comments I'm currently reading Of Blood and Bone and I was planning on reading Children of Blood and Bone.

Would these work for the prompt?

message 162: by Darci (new)

Darci Day | 164 comments I had a lot harder time with this prompt then I thought I would. I figured I'd pick a book off my TBR with a common title and find another that looked interesting. But I had the hardest time finding the second book. Bob looks interesting, and I've been wanting to read Bob for awhile.

The Feed is fun too. A novel idea and a quick read. Mira Grant's whole series rocks though.

Jessica (gorjessina17) | 8 comments I'm super tempted to do The Book of Lost Books: An Incomplete History of All the Great Books You'll Never Read and The Island of Lost Maps: A True Story of Cartographic Crime even though they aren't actually identical. I have them sitting practically next to each other on my shelf and never even noticed the similarity until today! Lol!

message 169: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (gorjessina17) | 8 comments Did you guys know this combo actually exists?!?

The Mermaid in the Basement
Mermaids in the Basement
The Mermaids in the Basement
Mermaids in the Basement

Is this some sort of common phrase that I've never heard before?

(Btw, I've read the first one and it was a pretty decent little mystery.)

message 170: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 734 comments Ok, my curiosity made me look it up. It is apparently from an Emily Dickinson poem (here's a link)

There's apparently a band called Mermaids in the Basement too.

Super weird.

message 171: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 97 comments I just decided to read the Silver Triology by Kerstin Gier
The titles are not the same in english, but the german original is nearly identical.

Dedra ~ A Book Wanderer (abookwanderer) | 190 comments I'm trying really hard to use books I already own, so I'll be going with The Living and The Living.

message 175: by Angelina (new)

Angelina Struggling to find two good reads I own or can get from the library for this. I am reading The Girl Next Door and there are loads more with this name, just don’t look like my sort of thing!

Also read the art book I'd Rather Be Reading: A Library of Art for Book Lovers this evening and when I went to add it as read found another I'd Rather Be Reading: The Delights and Dilemmas of the Reading Life so that might help someone (can’t get the second from my library)

IF you are not bothered too much about perfectly matching titles there is also Breathing Under Water which is one of my very rare 5* reads and one of the most beautiful emotive books I have ever read.

Megan | 361 comments Why am I so dumb, you guys?
I was struggling with this task and just now glanced at my TBR shelf on my bookcase and BOOM! Two books with the same title

D-Day, June 6, 1944: The Battle for the Normandy Beaches

and

D-Day: The Battle for Normandy

Yes I know the subtitles are different but pffffft the titles are the same (looking at them now, the D-Day is the only thing you see)
I bought them after visiting Omaha beach; a trip I believe everybody should take at least once in their life.

Some areas along that coast are just so emotive. Etaples cemetery always makes me cry as does Rue des Juifs in Hardelot Plage. It starts up by the house we worked in and runs down through the woods to an area where Jews were executed or brought in as prisoners. It also terminates at an old WWII bunker still on the beach. Hardelot Plage the town has only 4 houses which are pre WWII left the rest were flattened. It is a beautiful but haunting place so if you are going to Northern France any time soon do visit.

I went to Pont du Hoc too and stood in one of the German bunkers. Chilling experience. The ground is still cratered! I've seen pics of people sunbathing on Omaha Beach and it's like..."how? How can you lay there and sunbathe knowing what terrible things happened on that beach?" It's like camping at Gettysburg. I don't get it.

(Sorry guys for going way off topic!)

They are beautiful beaches but the minute you think about what happened there..... I always had about 40 teenagers in tow to wrangle so didn't get to dwell unless it was day off.
Sorry to others for off topic but ……. not really, that bit of history is important and being forgotten way too fast.

If you're into thrillers/psychological suspense, you might try The Girl Before by J. P. Delaney and The Girl Before by Rena Olsen.

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) | 896 comments I just noticed that there's another book called Sourdough, by Benjamin Ludwig.

This would be a lot of fun to match with the Sourdough by Robin Sloan that a lot of us read last year.

Ruth Lanton (ruthla8) | 177 comments Okay, I just finished reading "Winter Garden" by Kristen Hannah and "The Winter Garden" by Johanna Verweerd.

Do you think those titles are close enough to count for this challenge? I could always use the Verweerd book for ""A book set in Scandinavia" and the Hannah book for female author or a novel with 2 or more viewpoint characters or book with 2 word title or find another author's version of "Winter Garden" for this challenge.

Definitely. I don't think an article at the beginning should count as a different name. They even allow that on Jeopardy, so it's official:)
