It would be interesting as an experiment to change both and see if anyone would figure out who you were :) As in, "Who's this new guy with 800 comments?"
The last time you changed your profile pic (a Tom Petty tribute, if I recall correctly), it confused me because I use your pic to tell "which Randy?" You'll aways be Burgess Meredith to me. :)

Me too, and that's what I would use to see my comments vs. other Randys' comments. But when you quote someone, their profile picture doesn't show up in your post. In another group there was a Randy who asked someone about Fritz Lieber and I honestly had to do some digging to make sure it wasn't me who wrote the post. That was disorienting.

Right. That's what I thought too. Cat's answer to that is in Post #49. Someone else identified me by my post in a Buddy Read of Sherlock Holmes.
And in the future, once everyone is used to RJ, it would be easier to change the profile pic for a brief tribute to someone since there won't be other RJs around to confuse anyone.
There aren't that many Randys in the world, so it's kind of unusual to run into so many here on Goodreads. Although at my wedding almost 20 years ago we had a DJ named Randy and a photographer named Randy. That was a very confusing trifecta.

Reminder: Today, Monday, is the final day to update your nomination. Current status is:
Cat - Mistborn (3)
Jim - Codex Alera (6)
Bryce - Throne of Glass (7)
Silvana - The Books of the South (3)
Rachel - Young Miles (3)
Laura - Terra Ignota (3 with #4 forthcoming)
RJ (formerly known as Randy) - Narnia (6 since we're already reading one)
Feel free to add/change/remove a nomination.
I think it's fine we have a lot of nominations, just remember when voting if you see your first choice cannot win, you are free to update your vote before the closing of the poll to help your second choice win. Even if we still have a runoff it might help ensure that the ones selected for the runoff are also the ones with the most interest.

A poll to select our Second Science Fiction / Fantasy Series discussion topic is now open. If you're interested in participating in the discussion of one of our nominees, you can vote here for your choice.
Please vote only if you plan on participating in the discussion of those books. Keep in mind the number of books in the series and the length of each book as we need dedicated readers to keep the discussion going through the entire series.
Please also post a vote in the comments for whether we start right away in Jan or if we want a break and start only in Feb. Except maybe for Narnia since we're starting it in Dec :)
This poll will be open through Tuesday November 27

Is the plan to read monthly once it starts?
Is the plan to read monthly once it starts?

Is the plan to read monthly once it starts?"
I think so, unless people feel it's better to go every second month. I find that it might lose momentum if we do that, I'm already forgetting stuff from the first couple of Amber books, but at the same time if people feel it's too much every month then we can spread it out more. If Codex Alera wins those are pretty thick books, the Glen Cook books must be smaller since the omnibus of the first 3 at least wasn't huge

I think it makes sense to take a little break between series, after all we used to regularly have every second month off (anthology was every second month) so we'll start in February. Then it probably makes sense to just read the series straight through once a month so we don't lose momentum, and also so that those that were not interested in the series don't have to wait a full year before the next series! If we find it overwhelming we can change the pace as we go if needed.
I'll go add the books to our to read list now.
Personally looking forward to this one, need to thank Jim for giving me an excuse to start on this series before I finish other ones I've already got going :) Otherwise I don't know when I would get around to reading it.

I didn't even notice the name change, I guess I tend to go by people's profile pics :)
I'm also expecting a runoff poll but maybe that's a good thing for this kind of read. Still, happy to see a lot of nominations, so far the series reads are much more active than the regular ones! I wonder if people like the idea of not just always reading the first book of a series and then never following up on them :) I know I have trouble following up on all the series I end up starting due to the group.
