No worries. I'll just roll when I wake up in the morning. Hopefully everybody else will have their reviews in by then too

If all reviews aren't posted within the next 24 hrs we won't get to roll at all this week.

Book: Killer on the Fens
Read: 10/26/18
Rating: ★★★
How it fits: #4 in series
Review
This mystery series, about DI Nikki Galena and her partner Joseph Easter who solve crimes in the Lincolnshire Fens, is quickly becoming my current favourite British series. They are quick, easy reads with interesting characters and good mysteries. This one however, was not quite as much of a pageturner as the previous book in the series and therefore left me slightly disappointed.

#4 in All the King's Men series
Continuing the story of the battle between the drecks and vampires. Cobalt running rampant. More evil plots forming. As for characters and relationships. It's focus was on Io and Miriam. Though it also starts the building blocks for Marek's book. Wasn't one of my favorites to date but I love the writing.

Book : Winter by Marissa Meyer
How it fits: Lunar Chronicles #4
Read: 26th Oct 2018
Rating: 4 stars
Page count: 827pgs
Claiming Bonus: Starting and finishing a series AND Page count 500+ pages
Review: The conclusion to this series so there were obviously a LOT of things happening. Just constant activity without the plot slowing down at any point. Meyer did a good job tying up all of the stories from the series. Winter's character seemed a bit inconsistent to me but overall a fitting end to the saga. My favourite couple was still by far Thorne and Cress though.

The single book bonuses can overlap with a series bonus, so you can claim both the starting and finishing a series point for reading the series and the 500+ pages point for this specific book. :)

Awesome ^_^

Oracle's Moon
Read: 10/26
Rating: 2 stars
Review: This book was a bit strange. Not the story itself, the substance of the book was not there. I expected a lot more and was so disappointed on how it dragged and droned on. Note: The audio narration for the book was wonderful. The book itself... bah

Review: Maya's family was horrible. I'm glad she basically told them to fuck off at the end. She should have done it years before. These books are all quick and easy reads. A good go to when I need something easy for a challenge
*Bonus pts earned for Halloween bonus

I already used an alternative :(
But I did earn the Halloween bonus so I'll add that to my completion

So far I am on track to earn that bonus.

Review: London police detective Peter Grant is tasked to the countryside when two young girls disappear. Peter isn't just any old copper though. He has special magical powers. His investigation uncovers lots of strange happenings and finds that he isn't the only one with special powers.

Book: Stalker on the Fens
Read: 10/29/18
Rating: ★★★★
How it fits: #5 in series
Review
I'm continuing the mystery series about DI Nikki Galena and her partner Joseph Easter who solve crimes in the Lincolnshire Fens. The fifth book was definitely one of my favourites in the series so far. It had some great characters, the plot was fast paced with lots of twists and turns (some of which I did not see coming) and was difficult to put down,

#5 of the Brie's Submission series
Brie Bennett is my favorite female character. And in my top 5 favorite characters either. Red Phoenix is my 2nd favorite author. A continuation of Brie and Thane's story. Well out of the Training Center, their story still involves others from the Training Center. Drama, laughs, tears, ups and downs...you feel the emotion pouring off the pages.

Review: I liked the story and yet again Quinn is in it but what's with all the sex? I know it's part of the whole werewolf thing in this series but man sometimes it can get a little annoying. I'm looking forward to picking up the story again in book 3, that is something I do like about this series thus far, the continuing story arc.
How it fits: Set in Australia

I didn't know Carrie. For some reason I thought it was noon but it doesn't say that in the rules. Just my addled brain.
Don't worry, Sheila. You still have plenty of time. Reviews need to be in by 11:59pm Central Time tonight.

Book: Looking for Alibrandi
Author: Melina Marchetta
Rating: 4 stars
Finished: Nov 2nd 2018
Review: This book really surprised me. It took me a long while to get into it. After a few chapters I was sure I didn't like it and it was gonna be a one star read at best. But astonishingly my mind changed by the end of it. Josie Alibrandi is an Australian of Italian descent in the 90s. Trying to find her place among different cultures and peoples, grappling with the stress of the last year of high school, and new people coming into her life. This is the story of all she learns in a year and how much she changes and grows. It's about finding one's place and coming to terms with your identity. Excellent coming of age story if you can bear the exposition dump of the initial chapters.
