Book:Spellfall by Katherine Roberts
Qualification: Earthhaven #1
Pages: 250
Finished: 9/23/18
Rating: 3 star
Review:
This book is definitely different from the other books about magic that I have read. I love that the author didn't stick with the norm. She created a whole new way of performing magic. I really like how many different types of familiars a Caster or Spell Lord/Lady can have. This was definitely an interesting start to the series and gave the reader some insight into the world that the characters live in. I am curious enough to want to see where the author takes the series. There is so much potential with this world she created.

Oh, nice roll! I found a 4-book series I had lying around, so I'll see if I can manage the "starting and finishing a series" bonus point with this.

P.I. Rafe Bridges knows better than to fall for a straight guy, but he just can't say no when an attractive cop he met a while ago on a case asks him for help with a missing persons case - and the more time he spends around Jeremy, the more he feels drawn to him despite his self-imposed rules about crushing on straight men. Jeremy Halliday has always thought of himself as straight, no questions asked, but Rafe has him tied up in knots he absolutely didn't see coming. And while the two of them are trying to figure this mess out, there's still a missing teenager to find.
Started out really good, but quickly devolved into entirely too much overblown drama. Both the main characters were exceedingly frustrating and occasionally rather judgmental drama queens with a habit of jumping to conclusions and blowing things entirely out of proportion... after a while I just wanted to bash their heads together and tell them to get their shit together already, damn it. Over all that the missing teenager's case they were supposed to be dealing with kind of fell by the wayside (before blowing up into one hell of a clusterfuck pretty much out of the blue). Let's see how the next in the series turns out.

I don't think I've read this author before and was pleasantly surprised with this little read. I'm also really enjoying the non shifter, alpha/omega books which is what this is. Toby is the omega with what appears to be severe ADD or ADHD (I'm no expert so not sure) and Thorne is the Alpha who is also for "rent" to help omegas in need. Toby hires him and I found the whole beginning of their relationship quite funny. This was just a really fun read with a few twists and turns and just enough going on to keep things interesting. Will definitely read the next one soon.

Review: This was a fun and sexy light read. Mackenzie is a single mom, who got pregnant when she agreed to sleep with her BFF who wasn't sure if he was bi or gay. Now they are co-parenting a teenage son who loves to play violin. Campbell Evans is a musician and music teacher (and also a single parent to a teenage daughter), who Mackenzie meets when she is playing a trivia night at the local pub and Campbell is playing with his band. The two end up having a one night stand, which turns out so good they hope to have it turn into two, until they find out that Campbell is Mackenzie's son's new violin teacher! That puts the affair off limits, but of course you know they can't stay away from each other. I enjoyed this book - a quick fluffy read.

Review: I really enjoyed this book. It is the first time I have read anything by the author but defintely won't be the last. Every character has a story to tell and I look forwards to learning more about them. This book introduces us to Truman, he has recently re joined society after being in prison for a crime that wasn't his fault, he was trying to protect his drug addict brother and mother. After a desperate phone call he finds out his mother is dead after an overdose and he has two infact siblings he knew nothing about. Stepping up to protect the children he takes them with him and starts a new life with his motorcycle club and the kids. Luckily for him he meets, Gemma who fails in love with the children and Turman.
It is quite obviously what is going to happen but I enjoyed te book none the less.

Review: I loved this!! I feel like it wasn't really 1.5 though as it kind of happened during Maybe Someday, and I was expecting it was afterwards. I really liked that about this story though as you could see links and reasons for things that occurred during Maybe Someday. I loved Bridgette and Warren's relationship, and Warrens mission to constantly break down Bridgette's walls and heal her from her past. I liked seeing Ridge and Sydney's little parts too. Definitely want a reread of #1 now, as I can see a different side of Warren and Bridgette.

Review: A very good friend recommended this to me and ai’m glad she did. This was a fun take on time travel and the ethics of involvement in history. I wish the romance aspect had been bumped up a touch but I still found myself rooting for Si and Julia all the same. I loved how immersive the descriptions and art were to paint a picture of life in 1882. I also loved the somewhat plausible explanation for time travel. I found the mystery most intriguing and loved how it all wrapped up at the end. Now I’m so curious about where the series goes from here!

It's official, I am really enjoying this series. And this book was a rarity with a younger, smaller, omega Dom and an older, larger, Alpha sub. I loved that dynamic. Troy is a millionaire casino owner with too much sitting on his shoulders and Robin is our rent-a-dom. I don't want to spoil any of the story but they have met before. As Troy's Dom, Robin takes over his personal finances which really gets him going but I kept wondering what if Robin was a total douche and stole all his shit? That wasn't even brought up. Well they are living in an alternate universe, right? Anyways, I loved this story, loved Robin's brother (hope is story is next) and adored their dynamic. Can't wait for the next one!!

Qualification: Liaisons #2
Pages: 345
Finished: 01 Oct 2018
Rating: ★★★
Review:
Mark has finally accepted that he's definitely not getting back together with his ex and that they just weren't meant to be. It's hardly the first time a relationship of his has gone wrong, and something needs to change. Mostly Mark himself, because he's not overly thrilled with himself right now. To get away from everything, he's off on a vacation to Bora Bora - and promptly runs into Hollywood star Zane Whitlow. Zane hasn't had all that much luck in the romance department either, with a lot of the people he's been with more interested in his career and the media attention that comes with it than in him. Things seem different with Mark and he's willing to take a chance for once, though both of their inecurities might end up pushing them apart.
Much like the first one, this started out well, I was getting invested into the romance... and then all the fucking drama in the world happened, predictably enough. Please repeat after me, people: Jealousy. Is. Not. Sexy. Thank you. (And yet, I really want to know how things turn out with Christian and Kevin now, though I already dread the overwhelming amount of unnecessary drama that is bound to happen in that story too.)

This book was very well written. It picks up right where book 1 ends. With all the lies being told from both the Patrus & Matrus sides, it is hard to figure out who the good guys are. The truth is even scarier.
I was pulled into this story immediately. I just couldn't put it down. The story was mesmerizing due to the actions of people from both sides. Who do you turn to when both sides are out to get you? One society geared to the success of women and the other to the success of men. I loved how despite the horrific things both societies have done to her, Violet doesn't give up. She is determined to save the people she loves and find somewhere safe for them to live. Somewhere far away from the clutches of Matrus & Patrus. She is exactly the type of heroine that I enjoy reading about. She has weaknesses but her determination and fierce will to survive help her through the trials she faces. I am looking forward to learning more about these societies and how things play out.

Review: This book was so funny and I loved Braht! Ashley Power and Sebastian Braht made their appearance in Man Hands and Ashley can't stand Braht. Except they ended up doing the deed in a pantry in the last book, and now Braht is being transferred to Ash's real estate branch. The two are in a competition to be the top realtor, but several other things are going on at the same time. Ash's criminal ex-husband has been released from prison, and her parents meet Braht and assume he's Ash's boyfriend, Hunter, who she's been telling her parents about for almost a year. Braht was so ridiculous that he's adorable. He's into pastels, mani-pedi's and chick flicks and he's in love with Ash and is determined to win her over! This book was so much fun to read, and even though some of the stuff was over the top, it was entertaining and sexy and hilarious.

What an amazing book! I have been on a total roller coaster journey with this one, not really a suprise when you know the author is Samantha Young. Skylar Finch once mega famous pop sensation needed to escape her life and the horrific murder or her mother and step father and ends up living rough on the street of Glasgow, busking to earn enough to keep clean and eat sparingly.
Not wanting to give too much of the story away as I urge you all to read it. Skylar meets Killian O’Dea a music producer from Glasgows top record company and the two of them learn to forgive themselves for their past mistakes and try and create an album together.
It is a sad and beautifully written book and I can't wait for the next one in the series where we learn more anout Killians Sister.

Review: I did enjoy this, but think I would enjoy it a lot more reading the physical version as I would follow all the fantastical elements and characters a lot better. I did enjoy the narrator and liked Abigail’s character, she was very determined to follow her career dreams rather than follow the traditional woman’s role during this time. I liked how peculiar jackaby was, I thought it really made his character unique and his and Abigail’s friendship well balanced. I liked how Abigail would question his findings and visa versa, they constantly challenged each other. Will reread in physical and then continue the series!

Review: I will admit that there was maybe one too many of the misunderstandings that kept this couple apart, but even still I loved this book. MacLean can do no wrong in my eyes. She always writes such great chemistry into her books and these characters were no exception. I loved the theme of redemption from our most shameful acts, and how we can always overcome them if we can forgive ourselves. The ending act took courage and a willingness to fight for what you want - a message that surely is needed for all time.

Six years ago, Christian Blakely, fresh out of college at the time, and Gunnery Sergeant Kevin McGuire spent a single night together in Cabo. What could have been the beginning of something special ended with Christian running, overwhelmed by anxiety over giving in to desires he'd been trying to hide. Unbeknownst to each other, neither of them has been able to forget the other, and now, after all these years, coincidence brings them face to face again. A lot of guilt and resentment have built up over the years, but Christian has finally come to terms with who he is and what he wants and despite the anger and hurt Kevin still carries over Christian's rejection back then, seeing Christian again makes him realize how much he still wants him. Life has given them a second chance to attempt to build a relationship with each other - they only have to overcome the shadows of the past to do so.
Definitely my favourite from this series so far. It took me quite some time to warm up to Kevin, and both of them have their moronic moments going on, but there was far less overblown and annoying drama this time around and I really loved seeing their characters and relationship develop.

Lincoln Mathis is known as a playboy by all his friends, a gorgeous man to seems to have it all, especially ladies flocking around him. At his boss's wedding he is warned off by the bride to leave her sister alone due to his manwhoring ways. Daisy Sinclair has come out of a very bad marriage and the divorce almost ruined her, the last think she has on her mind is men. The unlikely pair hit it off and become really good friends. Both are hiding secrets to do with their past relationships and become drawn to one another.
The book is very easy to read, they were both quite witty characeters with just the right amount of sexual tension. I have throroughly enjoyed this new addition to the series. There were also sad parts to the book which kept my interest.

Recently single, Lily takes Randy up on his no-string sex offer - Randy's not a relationship kind of guy and Lily isn't the type to do casual, but she figures after so longer with her jerk of an ex, she's going to try it. Lily was so funny and Randy was much sweeter than he usually lets on. But things get difficult when Lily starts having feelings for Randy, and also when her mom finds out about him (her rule is NO hockey players!!!) This book was fun and sexy and I enjoyed it. I did think there were missed story opportunities with Lily and her skating

Review: What a great introduction to this series (apart from the novellas). I loved how much Calaena grew on be during this book. The love triangle with Dorian and Chaol also kept me on my toes and I have no does where this will span now that she broke things off with Dorian. I am so suspicious of the King and Perrington, particularly how he stitched Kat up with the poisoning. I really like the princess and Calaenas friendship, and hope to see more of that union in book 2. Yay for finally starting this series!!

This one started with Asher and Dakota already in a relationship that started out as a friendship. Dakota is an omega and is the most unromantic guy I've read about in a while. Asher is a big hulking beta but longs for romance, hearts and flowers, candles...the whole nine yards. Their current sex lives read like two buddies trying to get off but it's not really working. Awkward and at times funny (think Asher's attempt with the pink spatula). I really did feel their deep devotion to each other but no way were these two going to make it in the long run without some serious help. So they rent a dom. In comes Guy. He fits in perfectly. He's a bossy, controlling dom who explains things to Asher about romance and gives Dakota the romance he needs. The perfect bridge. I loved how these three complimented and completed each other. This series is just a really fun ride.

Shannon earned us a bonus point. I did not cash it in yet. Do we want to use it next week or hang on to it for a while? I believe we are tied for the lead spot right now....
I'd be in favour of hanging on to it for now. It might come in handy if we end up on tricky spots higher up like let's say 88 which don't offer many options for what to read - or for pushing us over the 100 if needed. It's still fairly early in the game, so I wouldn't worry too much about whether we're right at the top as long as we're not falling far behind.
