Excellent choice -- I've read this one twice, once in HS and again in college.

I hated it in high school @Heather L. I thought it was boring. However, now I'm really enjoying it now - 30 years later. The edition I have has an introduction by John Irving and he suggests reading it slowly and sentence-by-sentence and I've been trying that and it's really adding to my enjoyment.
Reading FBI thriller: Bombshell (2014)by Catherine Coulter. This is maybe 18th
In the series starring Savich & Sherlock.
I'm currently reading "The Enchanted April" by Elizabeth Von Arnim. I saw the movie years ago and loved it, especially the characters and the actors that played them. I'm just starting the book, and the movie - so far - followed the book quite well, while the book gives much more of the thinking of the characters. So far, so good.

We happen to be watching the movie - will finish tonight - and it's quite good.

Currently added The Homesman to my reading, the book club selection for next month. It has been a fascinating read - a little rough for those who don't like the profanity and some explicit description - but the main characters and the story are so well done.
I just finished Linwood Barclay latest book.
.I enjoy Barclay and Harlan Coben books because all the twist and turns their books always have.

Finished this and while the writing is good, I can't say I particularly liked it, especially the ending. Time for a cozy now I think...

Have started Emma for a group read. I read it in HS and did not care for it, so we'll see what I think after this reread -- provided I ever get through it. ;)
Heather L - I've come to the conclusion I should never trust HS me on books anymore. I've re-read The Grapes of Wrath and am currently re-reading Great Expectations and loved/am loving them.
Kirsten -- I've found my feelings tend not to change too much in rereads, but every once in a while I am surprised. I've read both books you mentioned twice and enjoyed them both times.
I was bored stiff in HS by these. But I re-read GoW in 2008 and found it very relevant. GE is just a delight with so many engaging characters.
This will take a while, but I've started
by David McCullough. Reading a little at a time, I find the people involved in such a huge undertaking, and all the dynamics of how it came about fascinating stuff.
Just finished What a Girl Wants. I began it back in 2008, but finally finished it. It was worth the wait.
I've been reading
and listening to
. I also have been reading
after my Kindle crapped out last night.
I read both The Witness and Angels & Demons and enjoyed both.
I'm finally past the quarter mark in Emma, and am remembering why I did not care for it. It's slow and plodding. I hate that it's taking so long to get through this one. If I make it to the end I definitely deserve a reward. Or, at the very least, ice cream. :-/

I'm reading The War of the Worlds. It's obvious the book was written over 100 years ago but I'm enjoying it so far. I had a goal to read 10 classics this year. I'm going to meet my overall reading goal, but I don't think I'll hit the classics portion of it.
I just finished The Fault in Our Stars - even more heart-wrenching than I expected. Definitely ready for a cozy now...

Emma is my least favorite Jane Austen novel so far (I still have to read Persuasion). Emma drove me nuts. Definitely ice cream when you're done; perhaps some chocolate at the mid-way point if you haven't thrown the book across the room. :)

Definitely, ice cream. A big one.

Ah, Persuasion. When I was in my early to mid twenties - Pride and Prejudice was my favorite. Then late-twenties my opinion shifted and I like Persuasionmore. More mature story I think.
Emma can be nerve grating. If I want to revisit it, I'll watch the movie. Takes less of my time.

Reading
Rose Gold: An Easy Rawlins Mystery. One of my favorite hard-boiled or noir series. I lucked into an ARC as the book doesn't hit the stands until later this month!
I just started
last night after my Kindle Fire died. @Christina - Persuasion is one of my favorite of Jane Austen's after Pride & Prejudice and Northanger Abbey
Thanks, Jennifer and Mary Jo. I'm glad I'm not alone in disliking Emma.
Christina -- LOL, on watching the movie to revisit Emma. I do have the movie, as well as the more prefered Clueless. I also liked Persuasion quite a bit. In fact, Emma is the only one I haven't liked.

Of course, I was the student that really enjoyed everything I had to read in school - Dickens, Austen, Shakespeare, etc. I enjoyed it all. About the only thing I remember reading in high school and college that I didn't enjoy was Paradise Lost, Kafka and Brothers Karamazov.
I'm reading short stories and novellas to go with my short attention span although I did manage to get through The Beautiful and Damned.

Not totally in the minority Teresa - Emma is my mom's favorite Austen novel, and I know quite a few people who have read it and loved it. :)
I read The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher by Kate Summerscale. The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher: A Shocking Murder and the Undoing of a Great Victorian Detective
