Lynn (lynnali) | 524 comments I'm reading Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography. I saw an interview where he discussed it and then saw it on the display in the Vegas airport and just loved the idea of a choose-you-own-adventure for a biography. I'm only through the dedication page but I've already laughed out loud. I hope it continues.

Olivia "So many books--so little time."" | 27 comments Currently I'm reading Cane and Abe by James Grippando. So far it has been a page-turner.

message 5303: by Carla (new)

Carla (carla1957) I have been reading some children's books lately for Netgalley as well as Second to Cry (Avalon, #2) by Carys Jones . Getting ready to start Dead Simple (Roy Grace, #1) by Peter James for another group I am in.

Kirsten (kmcripn) Just finished reading (listening to) Whiskey Sour Whiskey Sour (Jack Daniels Mystery, #1) by J.A. Konrath by J.A. Konrath.

The book has some gruesome scenes. But the author is really good at breaking them up with a good dose of humor and wit.

Debra (debrapurdykong) I'm reading Buried Preyby John Sandford and absolutely loving it. I read my first Sandford novel Gathering Prey a few days ago & loved the writing and protagonist so much that I had to read another. Don't know why it took me so long to discover this guy. Gathering Prey is book #25 in the series!!

Started Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy last night for a June group read (yeah, I'm late -- didn't have time to fit it in).

Ramla: All I Want Is You is in Mount TBR. I also have two books from her "Destiny" series to catch up on, which makes me feel a wee bit guilty since I know the author. :-/

Kirsten, I saw in another group that the owners of the group don't know what happened to it, but are trying to find out. With the holiday weekend, it may be a few days before they hear anything.

message 5325: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Thanks, Heather L. I just noticed it disappeared and was shocked. Hope you're having a great holiday weekend. It's 103F here today. Can't wait 'til this broiling of Washington State stops.

No problem, Kirsten. The day has been pretty good, only 82F here today, but a bit hazy from smoke drifting down from Alaska and Canada. We had a cookout at a friend's, brats and dogs on the grill. Several people left around 7pm, some for area fireworks. The few of us remaining just came in from doing sparklers and s'mores. Almost 10:30 now and still a lot of fireworks going on all over the neighborhood.

I hope so. My entire group is gone *poof* and we are sending a book around to each other so I need the list of group members to continue to pass it along.

message 5330: by Kait (new)

Kait Carson | 182 comments Not a cozy, not a mystery. Not sure how to classify it, but I am loving the story. I'm reading The Calling by Amber Foxx . It's a wonderful book. The characters are so three dimensional and the story and conflict so finely drawn that I am wondering if there isn't a good bit of the biographical in there! Don't miss this if you feel like taking a trip away from mysteries.

Yay! I love Kristan Higgins

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I finished Dry Storeroom No. 1: The Secret Life of the Natural History Museum while I was on holiday and started reading The Mother Tongue: English and How It Got That Way. Dry Storeroom No. 1 was really good, although I was having enough fun on vacation that it took me FOREVER to finish it. I'm also finding Mother Tongue fascinating! I keep reading parts out loud to DH... :)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I just started reading Dead Simple Dead Simple (Roy Grace, #1) by Peter James by Peter James today.

I also started/finished reading The Pigeon Needs a Bath! The Pigeon Needs a Bath! by Mo Willems by Mo Willems for the GCAC-2015 challenge.

I've also been listening to Frankenstein Frankenstein by Mary Shelley by Mary Shelley as narrated by Dan Stevens (of Downton Abbey fame).

Karen (kvelthaus) | 13 comments I am reading Dark Witch. I am a big fan of Nora Roberts and am loving it.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I've read and finished Silent in the Sanctuary and Silent on the Moor over the last few days. They are historical mystery and sort of iffy as to whether they'd feel cozy or not. Nothing graphic, but the theme for the last one at least was enough to curl your hair, so in this thread they go.

Both, btw, great reads (although Silent in the Sanctuary was marginally better).
