When you're not reading a cozy....
Just finished Under the Cajun Moon by Mindy Starns Clark. Very good, rated it 5 stars. Impressive research! (Evidently this is an award nominee title too.)
Just finished reading When Christ and His Saints Slept
by Sharon Kay Penmanhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I am reading "A Catered Birthday Party" by Isis Crawford. This is a mystery and I love this book. I can't hardly put it down. I got this book from the Library.

This series is definitely cozy, so I'd put it under the "what cozy are you reading" thread!
I'm reading "The Paying Guests" by Sarah Waters. A long book - over 500 pages- but it's going by fast. A fascinating read.
I like to read other types of mysteries, historical romance, paranormal books..I real a lot of different types of genres. :)

Another in Mount TBR I really need to get to! Love her "Gallagher Girls" series, still need the last book in that one.

I have been reading a variety of genres from cozy to suspense/thrillers to crime as well as YA and some children's books. Right now I have a couple of cozies on the go as well as
and
. Both good so far.
Started The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan Saturday afternoon, and spent a good chunk of the weekend reading. 500 pages total, and only about 100 to go -- I finally had to put it down last night just as epic battles were to begin, or I wouldn't have gotten a lick of sleep. I feel like a zombie this morning as it is. :-S
Just finished An Ember in the Ashes
- a great YA story about two teens set in a Rome-like Empire. 5 star read for me. The narration is excellent so I def recommend the audio.

I've been dipping into some non-cozy crime reading lately. Enjoying books by Deborah Crombie, Ruth Rendell and Louise Penny so far. Tried the first Tony Hill book by Val McDermid, but afraid I found it rather too gory/disturbing for my tastes.
Any recommendations for other authors to add to my non-cozy crime list? =)

As expected, finished this Monday evening. So sad to have another adventure series come to an end.

I loved the Percy Jackson series and the Kane Chronicles. I hope to get to it by the end of the year.

Finished Inferno yesterday. Another good international thriller. Am now reading a romance, Riding High by Vicki Lewis Thompson.

One of those books you either love or you hate. I would be in the latter category. I love his Kenzie & Gennaro series, tho. It starts with A Drink Before the War
.

I can see that. I'm definitely going to try his other books.
Just finished listening to A Royal Pain
by Rhys Bowenhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
(Still not quite ready to define these books as cozies. But, they would appeal to cozy lovers)
Just finished reading/listening to The Exile Kiss
by George Alec Effingerhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished Riding High and Riding Hard over the weekend, and am working on Riding Home to tick off my trilogy for the ultimate challenge.

There are 4 different time periods of these books and they are all very interesting!
Currently reading More than Happy: The Wisdom of Amish Parenting
. I don't have kids, but this is a great look inside Amish life.
I am currently reading
for another group read as well as
for another group. It makes it busy because I am still trying to finish the June Challenge.
Just started reading The New York Trilogy
by Paul Auster. There's a great line in the first chapter describing the narrators love of mysteries:
It was a kind of hunger that took hold of him, a craving for a special food, and he would not stop until he'd eaten his fill.
I just finished reading The Count of Monte Cristo
by Alexandre Dumas. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
