Our third read-a-thon of the year starts on the 25th and has a team challenge!

For those of you who have done a read-a-thon for the this group in the past, this should look familiar. If you're new to this, allow us to explain!

What do I have to do to participate?
If you can commit to actively participating in the read-a-thon, then please sign up in the comments below. We have chosen the categories so this group activity is fair and fun for readers of all speeds.

Please only sign up if you can commit to checking in with your team (on Goodreads) at least 3 times during the week from August 25th to September 3rd.

How many teams will there be?
The number of teams and participants on each team will be determined once sign-up is complete. Without knowing how many participants will sign-up, this is difficult to determine now. Typically we have 3 teams.

Please try and sign-up by Friday, August 24th, to give us a few days to work out teams.

You’ll be able to count books started before the readathon for most tasks, as long as you have at least 100 pages left to read when the readathon begins.

Question! Does the read-a-thon have to be done on a team, or can I set my own personal goals & join in for the week as an individual? Is the team portion a separate/bonus part? I signed up for the team, thinking that was the only option. I’d rather just set my own goals without having to participate in the game portion.

Liz, I'm not a mod so please don't quote me, but I think this is set up in such a way that while you are on a team it is very much up to the individual how much or how little they participate. It is fun and pretty low key. Nobody forces you to do the games. I read more during the last read-a-thon than I've read in years.
