Good talk of Norwegian and Russian Literatures! After we are a hundred percent running back on a normal schedule I'll suggest other rounds of national literatures! We did Japanese Literature, and others were arranged to be scheduled.
By the way, when we chose the first national literatures, the poll result was like this:
Japanese Literature: 227 votes, 26.6%
Russian Literature: 224 votes, 26.3%
French Literature: 224 votes, 26.3%
So, Russian and French are in demand in the group! :-)

I would also second this. We could break it down into just the first book, and those that want to read further on could. Much more manageable for those with busy schedules and for slower readers!
Book one is The Wreath if anyone else wants to second it now. Or we could go with Marcos' suggestion of holding another National literature month and see if Norwegian would beat out Russian or French! :)
An old and good idea, to read only the first part of Kristin Lavransdatter, Cheryl and Kerri! Seconded. If it doesn't make it into the poll, we can always suggest Norwegian Literature ahead. But I guess Russian or French will be unbeatable, then. :-)

Maybe there’s a buddy read scenario for some of these types of reads.

I wasn’t sure how to count these so they are on one line with Kerri, Marcos and Cheryl being the seconds.
Tally updated!
Jared wrote: "And if get a third it would be Phantom! Lol"Yep! You can Second as much as you want, though I would advise only those you are interested in reading/discussing.
Mon67 wrote: "I would like to read any Dickens except Tale of two cities."Hi, currently there are no Dickens nominated this month yet. If you would like to nominate one, just let me know which one. Thanks!
I nominate The Three Musketeers because it has to win eventually. Its destined to be swashbuckling fun!
I want to second Something Wicked This Way Comes. I have already read it but would love to read it again. Plus it is a great choice for a Halloween read.I also gladly second Dracula
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
and The Phantom of the Opera.
I would like to nominate Dicken's Bleak House and second Lavransdatter's the Wreath, both have been my To Read list for years
Hey, guys!Just have a look here:

to see how the group is doing great this month! Best month ever, actually! And still five days of nominations ahead!
Wow I thought the nominations seemed unusual this month, but then I realized we're selecting for October, which for many means a Halloween Theme.
NancyJ wrote: "Wow I thought the nominations seemed unusual this month, but then I realized we're selecting for October, which for many means a Halloween Theme."Yes, even though it was not a theme, it has certainly worked out that way in this thread!
Melanie wrote: "I definitely like the running tally. Thank-you."You’re welcome! We’ll see how it goes, but I think it helps me keep it all straight.
I second Jekyll and Hyde, Dracula, Something Wicked, and Phantom of the Opera. Absolutely ready for a spooky October.
Meg wrote: "How about The Monkey's Paw by J.J. Jacobs? Just in time for Halloween?"That is a short story, not a novel...
Esther wrote: "The graves of wrath"I believe you meant Grapes of Wrath, which I counted as a second. However, if you did mean Graves of Wrath, I did find a book called that, so I just wanted to make sure that you did not mean to nominate it instead.
Meg wrote: "How about The Monkey's Paw by J.J. Jacobs? Just in time for Halloween?"Just making sure, but do you mean W.W. Jacobs? That's what I found. Please check to make sure I captured the correct one in message 2.

We don't have a requirement on minimum or maximum length, fyi.
I remember reading this in school. I would enjoy a reread. I will second The Monkey's PawMeg wrote: "How about The Monkey's Paw by J.J. Jacobs? Just in time for Halloween?"
