1st Match: Gryffindor vs Slytherin

Who decides what books each person will read?

The player decides but it needs some coordination with team.
Chaser has free hand what to read. Keeper read to read whatever Chaser has read for Quaffle. Beater has to read what chaser is reading for the chain or what opposite team Beater is reading to demand your player.
Something like that.

And the chasers need to work together to complete chains and spellout

So if I’m the Keeper I have to read a book the opponent is reading. Do they tell us what they are going to read and then we start reading it at the same time and see who finishes first? I’m not sure how I am supposed to “spoil their fun.”

Unfortunately, one of the Slytherin Chasers had a malfunctioning broom and had to be taken to Madam Pomfrey as a result.
