Michelle's Empty Nest (mlundy5) | 1069 comments Ooooohhhh....I see some fun stuff on the SS and some challenging stuff! This is going to be tons of fun!!! I'll be interested to see what you do once you play around with it, Vicky.

Also, thanks for the links, Daniela!

Wow, I didn't realise the classes were going to be a whole other thing separate from the spells! I'm going to have to take a closer look at some of those challenges!

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments Rachel wrote: "Okay. I have read over the rules for the spells game. Can someone please explain it to me?"

Sure! It looks like spells are going to be the easy part of the challenge! ;)

We've been given a list of words and as a group we need to work together to read books with titles, authors (first or last name), series names (as written on Goodreads), or characters (first, last or commonly used nicknames) that fit the letters. I'll show you an example with ACCIO.

A - Arcturus (character from The Bone Season)
C - Cole, Kresley (author of Endless Knight)
C - Court of Frost and Starlight, A (title - A/An/The can be used or ignored)
I - Illuminae Files (series name for Gemina)
O - Orson Scott Card (author of Ender's Game)

Does that help clear things up a little?

Lory | 629 comments I just looked at the spreadsheet and it does make more sense now! I think I am going to participate in one of the buddy reads. Grave Mercy

I am also going to try to read the BOM Lilac Girls, although I will be traveling, but I do believe we get points for discussion (even if we don't make questions!

The classes are the best! I love finding books that fit specific challenges. The book I am reading right now has 800 pages with a gryphon on the cover (which should work for the magical creatures, if needed).

I can't wait to get all these books I have in line read!

Also, Jen - I just noticed you said you read the Elemental Assassin books. I love them! How far along are you? I just finished up Black Widow (before this challenge started).

I've only read the first five. After I finished book five, when Gin (view spoiler), it just felt like such a series ender of a book that I still haven't been able to bring myself to continue that series. I know new Big Bads are introduced, but it's still a struggle. :-/

Yes, we do get points just for discussion! We also get a month from the time the buddy read starts to get discussion points for it - since Lilac Girls starts on the 16th, you have until June 16th to pop into the discussion - so there is a little wiggle room! :D

Ugh, I wish I had something fun happening! I just got home from my hoarding clients, I have a pack/unpack on Tuesday/Wednesday, and then I'm back with my hoarders Thursday and Friday. Plus three closing shifts at my store. I feel like I need 10 showers everyday when I get home. ;_;

I do have Saturday off though, so... looking foward to that. XD

I got a rather quick reply to my request for help. Here is what I was told:
Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for taking the time to write in about this!  Our developers are aware of extra reading sessions being erroneously created and are working on fixing it.  While I don’t have a firm date for the fix, this bug is prioritized in our development team’s backlog - we know how important it is to save your book activity appropriately and hope to fix this soon.

I’ve added your report to the developer ticket and I’ll let you know once it’s been resolved.  If there’s anything else I can help you with, in the meantime, please feel free to reach out!

Hopefully they'll get this bug fixed soon!

Jen (reader44ever) | 2930 comments Hi all, If we ever get a word that we have to spell out, I just checked and all four books in The Tapper Twins series by Geoff Rodkey would be acceptable for this challenge: They all have over 25,000 words. :-)

Each of the four books in this series has a major secondary character named Xander in it for X:
The Tapper Twins Go to War (with each other) (The Tapper Twins, #1) by Geoff Rodkey The Tapper Twins Tear Up New York (The Tapper Twins, #2) by Geoff Rodkey The Tapper Twins Run for President (The Tapper Twins, #3) by Geoff Rodkey The Tapper Twins Go Viral (Tapper Twins, #4) by Geoff Rodkey

Or, I can recommend XVI (XVI, #1) by Julia Karr by Julia Karr. This is a YA dystopian story. It was good, I gave it 3.5 stars, but there's always the chance you'll enjoy it more than I did. (My friends who read it gave it four and even five stars.) :-)

You should definitely jump on the buddy reads and BOM books if you like the books they are reading You'll get more points and our house standings will increase! You can also ask in the Buddy Reads thread if people want to read books you're reading and if you can get someone not on your team to join you'll get points.
