Interesting! So how does that work?
Today I'm all wrapped up in my own stats, replying to other fellow readathoners on GR, IG, Tw, and FB, but as of tomorrow I really want to continue my reading (still have quite the TBR for October)

I read what I want (trying to hit some of the challenges on the way) and record my progress here. Last time I also tracked time, now the mini-goal is finish as many books as possible ))

Nice, might do that too, though I have so much reading updating to do cause I participate in too many readathons… But I would like to set a goal of reading every day for half an hour (or more if I'm up to it)

Yes Lamilla so agree with you and Vickie and severak others that a post-readathon lap will help reading some books started. I will be starting my lap in an hour or so.

Lamilla | 818 comments I managed to get 3 challenges DONE with my morning read of Hostage. Pity that the book looks like a 2-stars read at the moment.

Great to hear about your post-readathon lap, Cynda!

Lamilla | 818 comments I'm done with Hostage, finally. The ending was even more boring than the rest of the book, although I enjoyed two last twists. 1.5 stars for me, -0.5 for the terrible narration

One down . Three more to go . Good for you !

I'm still trying to complete my 2022 reading challenge of 25 books .
Four more to go

message 216: by Lamilla (last edited Feb 01, 2023 11:52PM) (new)

Lamilla | 818 comments Spring challenge is posted!
My TBR for it:

1. Read a book mentioned by another Dewey's participant on one of our social media sites.
? Maybe The Magicians, mentioned in Winter Readathon fantasy thread by several people

2. Read a book set in January, February or March.
?

3. Read a book where one of the characters does some cleaning.
?

4. Read a nonfiction book.
The Elephant in the Universe, 13.8
Закат империи доллара и конец «Pax Americana»

DONE 5. Read a short story collection, book of plays, book of essays, etc. - To Hold Up the Sky - a collection of sci-fi short stories

DONE 6. Read 3 books with Spring-colored book covers.
Note: [What are Spring colors? A Spring seasonal color palette is full of warm and bright shades like poppy red, daffodil yellow, and tangerine orange. Some of the neutral Spring colors are ivory, cream, camel, and clearer browns] - Клара и Солнце - red, История пчел - orange, Spare - cream/caramel

7. Read a book with flowers on the cover or in the title.
?

8. Read a book set someplace where January-March are summer months (ex: Australia)
Jennifer Government

DONE 9. Read a book with snow in it - Полиция памяти

10. Read a book published in 1923 - would need help with this one!

message 217: by Lamilla (new)

Lamilla | 818 comments I have snow in Полиция памяти I'm currently reading, so it will go for no.9

I haven't had time to read a damn thing lately . Once in a while life happens and I have to stop reading .
What genre is POLITICAL MEMORIES ? Politics and snow . Sounds interesting .

Sorry to hear that, hope you'll get into reading mood soon! (although it's good to have a life of course)
I believe English title is Memory Police. The stated genre is sci-fi, although when I read it it felt like literary fiction - commentary on society, food for thought.

Oh ! My Russian is kinda rusty , and I am pathetically out of practice . It's a Sci-fi cop story like BLADE RUNNER by Philip K. Dick . And the setting is snow . Cool . Is it the Yoko Ogawa one ?

I was reading THE PRESIDENT IS MISSING by James Patterson but I had to stop just short of half way through to work extra hours . It's a good story . Want to finish it by the end of this month .

Yes, the author is Yōko Ogawa. The feel is quite different from Blade Runner though
