I'm still pondering my TBR. I'd say that I do some combination of TBR and spontaneous reading. The minute I call the stack of books "TBR" something in my brain balks at the thought of "planned" reading so I tell myself that the stack is just a stack of possibilites.

Monstress is good! I read a lot of graphic novels for the reverse readathon in July. That was fun! But every October I read only Stephen King books. I have 2 graphic novels from the Gunslinger prequels, an audiobook, and a couple of physical an e-books all by King.

Lamilla | 818 comments @Elyse hope I'll like it as well. Good luck with your King selection!

I think I will include the books I hope to finish this week in my TBR list:
GUTS 'N GUNSHIPS What it was Really Like to Fly Combat Helicopters in Vietnam by Mark Garrison and Making Sense The Glamorous Story of English Grammar by David Crystal .

I will also be reading Die Entscheidung by Charlotte Link , though I know I won't be able to finish it ))

what have you thought of the audible original freebies? Some have been better than others, but I've not been disappointed in any of them. I kinda wish they had more options each month since i have trouble finding two i want. However, it has gotten me to try some different genres/authors than I'd have otherwise read so there is that.

I haven't listened to any of them yet! lol. Not a one! I've heard disappointing things about a lot of them though. Like they're weird or too short or nonsensical. lol

message 83: by Lamilla (last edited Apr 26, 2020 05:21AM) (new)

Lamilla | 818 comments Closing survey

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
Last two, when I understand that I won't be able both read my 3rd book and listen to an audiobook for the bingo board

2. Tell us ALLLLL the books you read!
The Silence of the Girls - finished
Leviathan Wakes - made a good progress

3. Which books would you recommend to other Read-a-thoners?
something engaging - your fav genre, perhaps

4. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again?
Would you be interested in volunteering to help organize and prep?
Participate - yes, for sure. Volunteering - no way

message 84: by Lamilla (new)

Lamilla | 818 comments Found another survey in the neighboring thread:

1. How would you assess your reading overall?

I'm glad that I finished one selected book and started the other one. Having the bingo board in front of me helped me focused too. However, I didn't get to the third and haven't listened to any of the audiobooks I own - and didn't close any of the lines on the board

2. Did you have a strategy, and if so, did you stick to it?
I selected the books in advance, have them in front of me, have the bingo board for motivation + visited hourly discussions and other people's threads to feel the vibe. I didn't manage to read as much as I wanted too. Next time I'll include audiobook/easy read/something in Russian earlier

3. What was your favorite snack?
-

4. Wanna volunteer for our next event? Stay tuned for the recap post!
No

Lamilla | 818 comments Survey!

Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I hope to finish The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue! Curious about Аномалия, I don't read French authors often and not sure what to expect

If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today?
I made my TBR as diverse as possible, including different media types! I hope to participate in the reading sprints as well, this worked wonders for me in prevous iterations

Lamilla | 818 comments I'll use the same bingo board as last time: https://bingobaker.com/#297dcb7bf7334...

My most-read genre is sci-fi (50 books on my shelf) and least-read is either history or childern's book (have 2 books for each on my shelves)

Will start with either The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue or Аномалия or both :D

They might count for:
E
Read for one hour straight
Author initials in DEWEY (V.E.Schwab)

E-2
Read physical book
Finish a book
