I already have a TBR but it'll probably change a bit as I'll be working my way through the books up to the readathon. But here it is:
Max the Miracle Dog: The Heart-warming Tale of a Life-saving Friendship - Autobiography, currently reading so likely will have finished before the readathon
Stone Blind - Greek Myths
The Whale Road - Historical Fiction Torvill and Dean - Biography
Cobwebs and Cream Teas: A Year in the Life of a National Trust House - A reasonably short book that looks like a quick read
La Grande Therese : The Greatest Scandal of the Century - Only 134 pages so should be a quick one to finish early for a sense of achievement!
I expect I'll add a couple more as we get nearer but its good to have a starting TBR.

I'm planning on doing some housework over the next couple of evenings after work so I can relax and not feel guilty about reading all weekend.
I'm heading to the library on Saturday morning (readathon starts at 1pm for me) so I can grab a couple of graphic novels or short novellas to give me some more variety and then I'll list my final TBR for the readathon.
I've also prepped a couple of topics for my Co-Moderation hours. I'll be doing hour 3 and hour 22 so please swing by the hourly threads and join in if you get a chance.

Kate thank you for your co-mod service:) I will be checking in and checking through all the hourly threads. I do my best to support all here who help 🐞

Cathy, I really like a lunchtime start. I always need to sleep so it helps that its night half way through!
No problem Cynda, I enjoyed co-mod duties when I did it last year. Happy to help where I can. I imagine its a massive job for you Mods!
Thanks Ann A. I try to have a variety so I can change things up.
Have a great readathon everyone. 🤗

Hi Kate!!
Hope you have a great RaT!
I decided to turn it into a 4 day event--lol only because I'm home and had a pretty open weekend with no disturbances! Why not spend it reading!
I started at Friday 4/25/12:01 am and I will end it at 11:59 pm Monday!
I waited to join at the last minute so I'm winging a lot of things. I usually do better when I don't do a lot of planning. I'm a mood reader so I have to have lots of choices!
Have fun and hope you get lots of reading done!

I've been out shopping and to the library this morning so I now have all my snacks and books at the ready.
Snacks:
dips/hummus with crisps, cheese straws, cucumber, carrot, pepper & baby tomatoes
Chocolate Easter egg
Chocolate chip cookies
Hot cross buns
Breakfast
grapefruit/hot cross bun
Lunch
Dips as above + soup & crusty bread
Tea/dinner
Pizza & coleslaw
Drinks:
Lemonade (no added sugar)
Water
Coffee
Gin & Tonic (maybe but I don't concentrate well on reading if I drink!)

To finish:
The Whale Road
Torvill and Dean
Stone Blind
Smaller books to start & maybe finish:
Cobwebs and Cream Teas: A Year in the Life of a National Trust House
La Grande Therese : The Greatest Scandal of the Century
Graphic Novels from the library:
The Librarian of Auschwitz: The Graphic Novel
Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor, Vol.6: Sins of the Father

It can be interpreted in any way but I'm going to try and find each word in the text of the books I read during the readathon. I'll cross them through as I find them.

I used to do the bingo board too but the last couple of times I havent. Ill be focusing on reading lol

Opening Survey April 2025
1) What part of the world are you reading from today? I’m in Hampshire, UK. The readathon starts at 1pm for me.
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? Cobwebs and Cream Teas: A Year in the Life of a National Trust House by Mary MacKie
3) Which snacks are you most looking forward to? I have a large Easter Egg to make my way through!
4) Is this your first Dewey's Readathon? Nope I’ve done most of them since I found Dewey’s in April 2018.
5) What are your goals for this readathon? I would like to read over 10 hours and at least 500 pages
6) Which book are you starting with for this readathon? I need to finish The Whale Road by Robert Low
7) Tell us a little something about yourself! I enjoy doing calligraphy.

I've managed to finish my first book The Whale Road and will probably give it 3 stars.
I have to divide my time for the next couple of hours as Villa have just kicked off against Crystal Palace in the Semi-final of the FA cup so I need to keep an eye on the match and cheer on Villa! Fingers crossed...

I like your bingo board, it is open for interpretations!

Nice going!

I have managed to finish a second book Torvill and Dean and started the Dr Who graphic novel as its getting late here now. I'll probably read for another hour then I'll need to sleep.
Villa lost the football so I'm glad I didn't waste my time watching the match!
Your National Trust Houses sound like they might living museums? Or maybe preserved houses with a tea shop?
We do not do that.formally in US. Private foundations and other organizations do operate houses like I have described.
We do have National Historical Markers where.something significant happened. See then an organization may become interested in restoring and having a shop/cafe.

I am assuming it is a candy treat type of egg?
In my family, an Easter egg is a hard boiled, dyed egg. lol

Hi Cynda, Our National Trust houses are mostly stately homes with landscaped gardens/park land which have significant historical value (maybe visited by royalty or owned by a prestigious family whose history goes back centuries). The National Trust now own them and open them up to the public to look round. They often have a gift shop, tea shop and second hand book shop!

Ha ha. In this case I mean a huge Chocolate Easter Egg so a candy treat. I haven't even touched it yet!

Its almost 7.30 am here and I started reading again at 6am.
I now have a coffee and am settling down to finish another book.
Hope everyone is enjoying their readathons.

I finished 4 books
I read 498 pages
I read for 11 hours and 54 minutes.
If I had read for another 6 minutes I would have got over 500 pages. Typical. I really should keep a running total instead of adding up at the end!
But, I should say this is the best I have ever done in all the Dewey's I've taken part in so I am very happy that I appear to have hit on a winning formula.

I suddenly realised that its readathon weekend and for me its 1am Saturday to 1am Sunday. I'm not so fond of this one but we'll see how I get on.
I grabbed some snacks today and am sticking to my firm favourites:
Hummus and cucumber, pepper, cheese straws, crisps etc
Popcorn
TBR to follow in the next couple of days.
Off to check out what everyone else is reading now.
