Em*Greedy* (Iniya) (iniya_n) | 4582 comments Time to spice up the reading for this year;-) We are proposing a new readathon challenge where we team up, choose our own books and read at our pace ;-)

Rules:

Participants have to be in pairs.
Duration: one month (tentatively June 2018)

There will be a list of books from which both should read and compete. The one with higher page count at the end of month is winner.

Booklist: Each one can nominate 10 books (count can be mutually increased after discussion with your partner. Max limit for nominating books is 25. )

Apart from this, Each member should suggest 2 challenge books that must be compulsorily read by his/her partner.

So there will be totally 24 books minimum in the list which can be counted towards this challenge. This must be chosen and fixed before commencing the challenge.

You can leave some wildcard slots to populate later during the month but the number of books to be suggested by each partner is FIXED.

The number of wildcard slots is limited to 5. Not more than 5 can be left as wildcard slots

Only completed books will be considered for this challenge. If you have 10 pages unfinished in a tome, the tome is not considered.

Em*Greedy* (Iniya) (iniya_n) | 4582 comments Some clarifications:

--> You can sign up in pairs. If the pairing needs to be done by the mods, you can sign up individually and Mod's can do the needful

--> All the 24 books need not be read to complete the challenge, only the 2 books suggested by your partner are must-reads. Partners can be considerate while choosing challenge books.

--> The idea is to read at our own pace. So we need not be intimidated by the number of books.

--> The competition is between you and your partner. This is not a Inter-team challenge

Teams as of now:
1. Iniya - HP
2. Manju - Srividya
3. Kru - Syl
4. Sharadha - Akanksha
5. Kavitha - Sathish
6. Rebecca - Aparna
7. Smriti - Kan
8. Neha - Gitanshi

I have another nephew who is a teenager, but he reads 25-50 books a month and we, family members, are guessing he would have read at least 10,000 books. He is totally not interested in recording the books read in goodreads.

Same here....I would have read more than 1000 books, however, I don't remember the titles, only authors....

wow! you were reading more before!! Your parents were ok spending that kind of money on books when you were kid?

My parents used to get me books whenever I asked. But the wide choice wasn't available and neither the hefty discount. I had membeship in a couple of libraries ..hence I survived.
