YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! After the disappointing news that Hill's Locke and Key was passed on, I'm so excited that this is actually happening.

I like this idea even better than I liked the idea of Locke and Key, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
      Here's a fun game-cast the main characters:Vic:
Lou:
Manx:
Maggie:
Who would be the best at portraying these characters?

Perfectly stated. I kinda would prefer it to be on Netflix or HBO so they could do it no holds barred.

I was thinking about this overnight, and I think AMC will do a good job. They are doing well with The Terror. HBO and Netflix are good for if there's a lot of sex or nudity, but there isn't with this story, so I don't see where AMC would be stymied. I would love to see it without commercials, though, so there's that.
Well, it all depends on the screenwriting, how much they change and don’t change, the cast, the director, and how much money they put into the whole thing. There was another cable network, can’t remember which, that had a really good adaption TV show. Then the next one, sucked. Like they didn’t even try. So I hope that doesn’t happen, but you never know.
I am glad they are doing a mini-series as opposed to movie for this. Definitely going to keep an eye out for it. My vote for Manx: Tom Noonan!
I am actually OK with Locke and Key not coming to fruition. You would really need a huge budget to properly adapt it. I think comics are the perfect medium for that story. I think they COULD make a series based on the Keyhouse though! Make it an anthology series focusing on different keys and then have the stories intersect and overlap.
The novel has been sitting on my TBR pile for ages. I might just go and pick it up know while expecting the TV show. I hope both will be good.

A series about Key House is a great idea! I looked up Tom Noonan and he does look good for the part.
What about Jennifer Lawrence as Vic?

I don't know about this. Zachary Quinto is not really a Charlie Manx to me. I hope I'm wrong.
I’m 75% through the audio book, it’s an unpleasant book in parts, wonder how amc is going to handle the nastiness.

I think it looks good but of course trailers always have a tendency to do that. I'm glad it's premiering in June and not have to wait until fall.
Just curious... does Joe Hill have a writing style similar to his father or does he have his own independent "voice" ?

Robert wrote: "Just curious... does Joe Hill have a writing style similar to his father or does he have his own independent "voice" ?"He definitely has his own voice though there are a few similarities. Sometimes there are references to his father's work in his books.
For instance, there are mentions of Pennywise in NOS4A2.
I didn't realize till last year this spelled out Noferatu..always read it as a regular license plate...smh

Has anyone watched the first episode yet? I'm super excited but also nervous to watch because I loved the book so much. Trying to decide if I should wait until the season is done and binge it or just start now. Don't feel bad, I did too lol
I haven't yet, but I bought the episode on Amazon Prime Monday morning so I'm gonna try to get to it maybe tonight or tomorrow.

I watched the premiere and really liked it. I'll be curious how this sustains as a series. That being said if it can make it past a first season.

Did anyone see the trailer for the second season of The Terror? It looked really good, though it also looked like it no longer has anything to do with the book.
Re: NOS4A2, I thought the makeup on Zachary Quinto was amazing.

Yep, I read that The Terror would now be a series whose theme would change each year, the way American Horror Story did.

I had hoped they would keep her husband fat but I don’t see anyone, but the janitor, fat. I’m ashamed I don’t remember his name but he was such a good guy. This was his story too.

She is still living with her parents right now, but I don't see anything about her husband listed as part of the list of characters. That's a shame because Lou was one of my favorite people in the back.

Lou was his name, if I'm remembering right. He was such a good guy. I don't think she's met Lou yet in the show. We'll see what happens but I hope they keep Lou true to his character in the novel.

I did see the first episode. Lou, yes I think so. I thought the whole book was going to be a miniseries. No Lou at all, terrible decision.

On IMDB, the character of Lou is listed for only one episode. I'm guessing he'll appear in the final one.

Lou Carmody, Yeah, I don’t remember him being black. Guess we’ll see.In my mind her man was Chris Pratt in his fat Parks and Rec look.
Just started the book (as you can see via my profile), so gonna wait til I finish before I watch, but I am looking forward to this.

Lena wrote: "I recommend the audiobook book, Kate Mulgrew was great!"Agreed! (I just started reading her latest autobio, How to Forget: A Daughter's Memoir, which she narrates herself.)

Yes, they turned it into an anthology series. The second season will be about the Japanese internment camps, in the US, during World War 2. George Takei is starring in it.
Agreed! Her performance of it, (even though she mispronounced Haverhill), was so good that it raised my rating from 4 stars to 5.

Oof. I'm at episode 5 now and am rather disappointed with the show. The cast is great but the writers clearly had some issues adapting the story for the new format. There is a lot of stuff that falls under the table and I don't like the rather tropey patchwork they used to stitch up some of it. Overall the show has a very different vibe to the book, less horror and much more drama and teenage angst. It's not a bad show by any stretch, it just isn't great either. I was really hoping for more from this adaptation - especially after seeing the early trailers.Anyone else thoughts after seeing the first few episodes?
I watched the second episode and I am still enjoying the show. I don't really have any complaints about it.

I watched the second episode and I'm still enjoying it. Most especially the portrayal of Charlie Manx.

Erin wrote: "I watched the second episode and I am still enjoying the show. I don't really have any complaints about it."Same..There are some little things with the time that are off, but I don't have any complaints
Randy wrote: "I've only seen the first two episodes. If it were canceled tomorrow, it wouldn't bother me at all."Yep. That's about right. The early episodes are also the better ones, for me, the show really took a nosedive starting with 5.
I’ve watched three episodes, and I liked all three so far. There are a few scenes I’m like what the hell?!?! Plus Vic is still young so are they going with that storyline? Kate Mulgrew was an excellent narrator for sure. I really would want to read the book again.
