I am going to have a go at reading Poor Things by Alasdair Gray. Poor Things Not sure how I will get on with it yet? But Mary Shelley's Frankenstein Frankenstein: The 1818 Text and Alice in Wonderland Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass are two of my favourite novels.
I am not sure if they share similarities with the novel Poor Things but it looks intriguing nonetheless.

page 150 sounds like the world since 9/11. Shock after shock after shock. Until 10/7/23 when we don't think it can get worse and it just keeps getting worse, but a little worse than the last horror show (Ukraine) and the last (wild fire smoke out) and the last (Pandemic) and the last (Trump) and the last (Great Recession). And I think there a dozens more smaller but shocking events that just keep piling up.
