Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments Since we have enough team guesses for everyone to use one, I’m going to go ahead and say D3 is a hit, and we have indeed sunk the 5 block ship!

Only one three block ship left to find now...

message 152: by Marina (new)

Marina | 1312 comments I'll use one more guess for F10 before I go to bed.

Broyny, I think you marked F6 as a miss instead of F7.

I'm working on a few books for other challenges that runs out in March so I'm all over the place when it comes to reading! I hope to finish a couple of books more during this read-a-thon though so maybe I should make myself a plan for the next days 😁

Well, I'm soon off to bed... happy reading everybody!

message 153: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 943 comments Woohoo!

I'll use my last guess on G9.

Question: Was the single member finishing 3 books a one time only deal or is it repeatable? If repeatable, I have finished 3 books.

Lots of team guesses left folks so let's use them!

message 154: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments Hey team! I’m halfway through my next book, and it’s a surprisingly quick read, so fingers crossed I’ll be finished soon, although the Spider is off school now till Monday so we will see how that goes. 😂

Can I use my team guess for J6?

message 155: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments Ack. Can’t edit on phone, I meant J8, my finger hit the wrong button!

message 156: by Bryony (new)

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments Marina, thanks for spotting that, I’ve corrected it now. Perhaps I need new glasses! And, F10 is a hit!

Rachelnyc, G9 is a miss, but you can have another guess for completing three books.

Hannah, I7 is a miss, sorry.

Jody, J8 is a miss too sorry!

message 157: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 943 comments Nice work everyone, we are so close!

I'll use my guess on F9.

Maybe I'm a little confused here, but I thought you weren't allowed to guess since you're a mod and know where the ships are? Not that I'm complaining really, since D3 was the obvious next choice, and this saves someone having to waste a guess on it.

As for my three available, I will guess:
H12
E10
F11

message 159: by Bryony (new)

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments F9 is a hit too Rachelnyc, only one more square to find!

message 160: by Bryony (new)

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments Rachel, I didn’t make a guess (you’re right that as a mod I know where the ships are), I just accepted the suggestion that Rachelnyc made to use a team guess for D3.

message 161: by Bryony (new)

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments H12 and E10 are misses, but...

F10 is a hit so we’ve sunk the final battleship!

Great work blue team, we’ve finished only half way through the readathon!

Although we don’t need to complete any more tasks, we can continue using this thread to talk about what we’re reading for the rest of the readathon if everyone would like to.

Fair enough. I didn't see Rachelnyc's suggestion.

Anyway, great job team! Can't believe we finished so quickly.

message 163: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 943 comments Well done everyone!!

I still plan to keep reading so I'll definitely keep coming here to update and see what everyone else is reading.

I just started The Broken Girls and hope to finish that and maybe one more by Sunday.

Kathy Jo (kjsotr) | 304 comments I think we should keep earning guesses, just to see how blue we can make the board! :)

message 165: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments Way to go Blue Team!!

message 166: by Marina (new)

Marina | 1312 comments Well done Blue Team 👍😊

My five days of Easter Holidays start today and we have made zero plans so I hope to keep reading a lot and tackle some of the challenges I'm working on.

I'm also working on The House at Riverton for the ATY. It's my first book by Kate Morton but I'm really liking her writing so I think I'll have to try more of her books.

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Woho, great work Blue team!:)

Like Marina, my five days of Easter Holidays also starts today, and with that more reading time. So a little bummed that we already finished 😂🤣

I have made good progress in Persepolis and Hallowe'en Party, so hope to finish those before the readathon is over. Both are for my AtY challenge. PS: Persepolis would have fitted the red cover task perfectly;)

Happy holidays and happy reading!😊📚

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments Go Team Blue! 🎉 I like Kathy Jo's suggestion of trying to "blue" the whole board!

I'm up for an extra challenge as well 😊

Me too!:)

message 171: by Erica (new)

Erica | 555 comments I finished another book: Fitness Junkie
I highly recommend it if you want a funny, light read. It’s a pretty snarky novel about the fitness industry and what some women will do to be thin (because society says we should be). Loved it!

message 172: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments I just finished The Black Tulip - it was ... interesting.

message 173: by Tracy (last edited Mar 29, 2018 01:14PM) (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments so even though we've sunk all of our ships, I'm going to try and read like crazy for the weekend.

I'm really enjoying Peony in Love , almost done. Lost Memory of Skin has been good too and I have 2 more to read to catch up on ATY challenge plus some middle grade. I have plenty of alone time so, we'll see what I feel like reading.

Did the Halfway Check In and Scrabble, so all games completed up to this point.

Not sure if we're still tracking page counts but my total to date is 220.

Are we trying to turn the board blue??

message 174: by Kathy Jo (new)

Kathy Jo (kjsotr) | 304 comments When Breath Becomes Air

Nonfiction
POC (parents immigrated from India, but I have already used one)
For ATY challenge

Page total: 527

Participated in all games thus far

message 175: by Marina (new)

Marina | 1312 comments I finished South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami last night. I'm not sure I understand Murakami, I always find his books weird.

message 176: by Erica (new)

Erica | 555 comments I finished Fire and Fury on audiobook. I started it before the readathon, but I’ve now listened to more than 2 hours audiobook.

message 177: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3282 comments Since my last update, I finished The Seafarer's Kiss which is a YA book that I read for the ATY challenge. It has a winter cover (lots of snow and ice), and it is by a female author.

I have also started reading 99 Red Balloons, but since I'm still working on that one, I'm not sure if it counts toward anything yet.

message 178: by Hilde (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Good morning:) I finished Persepolis. It was really interesting.

Just started Big Little Lies, which I heard so much fuzz about. I think it's going to be a good and quick read. I've already seen the tv-show, so know the basic storyline 🙈🙊But the book is always better, right?;)

message 179: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments It’s a fantastic book, Hilde! It was a group favourite back in 2015, when a bunch of us read it for a prompt for an antonym in the title. It’s totally not my normal style of book, but I loved it! It’s not a short book but it reads quickly and easily.

message 180: by Hilde (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Good to hear! I'm already liking it, and it reads very quickly 😊

message 181: by Kathy Jo (new)

Kathy Jo (kjsotr) | 304 comments I finished The Broker by John Grisham. I am using it in my ATY challenge as a Legal Thriller, though the legal part is s bit iffy! It's been a while since I've read a Grisham novel, but I really enjoyed it.

Page total: 650

I also participated in all games thus far.

message 182: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3282 comments I finished 99 Red Balloons. I just realized that as of my last post, I stopped calculating how many pages I finished! Good thing I had it marked down in the progress post. I'm now up to a total of 1213.

I've also participated in the Scrabble game both days that it was available, and I did the Guess the Cover game. The only thing I have not done yet in the Quarterly Reader's Choice Awards, which I was a little surprised to see in the read-a-thon section.

message 183: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments Wrapping it up and going to bed.

My total page count for the challenge is 356.

I finished all of the Games.

I got a Bingo!

and I finally finished reading Peony in Love today

message 184: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 943 comments I finished The Broken Girls (which was really good!) but came up one book short of my goal of 5 for the week. I knew going in that this weekend would be busy and I wouldn't have much time to read though so I feel good about it anyway.

I finished 1 book started prior to the read-a-thon and read 3 more with a page total of 1069.

Hope everyone had a great week. This was fun!

message 185: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3282 comments I'm done for the night too. I read 220 pages of Meg & Linus. If I didn't have to work tomorrow, I probably would have stayed up to finish the rest! 1233 pages total for the whole read-a-thon.

message 186: by Kathy Jo (new)

Kathy Jo (kjsotr) | 304 comments I finished Because of Winn- Dixie on Saturday. Total pages over 1000.
