Read-a-Thon #2 - Blue Team Battleship Strategy Topic

Kathy Jo - C6 is a hit!
Hilde - that’s one guess for reading a poem (there’s a limit for the team overall but no individual limit)
Erica - C9 is a hit too, that’s our first battleship sunk! (C6-C9)
Also, that’s fine for the novellas task. And you earn one more guess for reading a poem.
Rachelnyc - you have one more guess for A Man Called Ove
Marina - you have two guesses: one for Foul Play, one for Ukuelig
Tracy - you have three guesses, one for reading a picture book, one for We Should All Be Feminists, one for reading a poem
Kathy Jo - you have one guess for The Heavenly Man
Rachel - those squares were guessed in earlier posts so you can use your guesses on another two.
Team guesses - we have
One guess for reading three novellas or short stories
One for completing three books started before the readathon
One for two books by women
One for two books by PoC

A book for the ATY challenge
A book with a one word title
A non fiction book
I also added another 313 pages making my total so far 637.
And I listened to an audiobook for 1 1/2 hours.

I read 116 pages of Looking for Alaska, bringing my total so far up to 528 pages. I also did the Candy Book Tag.

East of Eden is one of those books I have on my TBR put I always put off reading because it scares me a little. I feel that way with a lot of the big classics. But maybe it's time to give it a shot!
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping Erica or Tracy have hit something before I make my guesses :-)

- female author
- POC author
And on its own could count as
- published in 2018 or
- an article in the title
My page count is now 678

Erica
A3 and B12 are misses. H5 is a hit!
Tracy
H10 and G4 are misses. J12 is a hit!
Rachel
C5 and C10 are both misses. Sorry!

Hannah - one guess for reading two hours straight
Jill - one guess for Bossypants
Erica - one guess for An American Marriage
And we have two more guesses for the team, one for two books by women and one for two books by PoC.

I've just read this short story: Beyond the Door.
I finished it in one sitting. Can it count for anything?
I also did the Candy book tag earlier today.

I also read for two straight hours on the airport/flight today (started Hallowe'en Party).
I will check in later tonight with my page count.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, I also want to read it at some point:)

Hilde, you earn two guesses, one for reading two hours straight, one for a book finished in one sitting.

We’ve finished 12 books started during the readathon, which actually earns us another team guess. That’s seven team guesses now, just let me know when you want to use them. :-)

ATY challenge book
Published over ten years ago
Updated page count: 200
I also have participated in all games so far.

Kathy Jo, you have one more guess for completing A Study in Scarlet.
We also have one more team guess for reading five books for the AtY challenge.

I haven't been doing a huge amount of reading since I finished my first book. ☹️ But I did a bit of audio today, so I'm still helping!
I'm now sitting at 263 pages, and 3.5 hours of audio. How do you want us to update our progress, Bryony? Like this, or just wait until the end?

Kathy Jo - B1 is a miss, sorry!
We have two more team guesses available as we have read over 4,000 pages and listened to 20 hours of audiobook.

We’ve now completed the pages read & hours listened to tasks but we can complete them again, however only people who haven’t reached the 600 pages and 5 hours limits can contribute.

I hit 600 pages today and I should finish Bonfire tonight.
I'll hold off on using my next guess until I see if G3 is a hit.

This adds another 1 1/2 hours to my listening to an audiobook.
I also played the Candy Shop game.
For my guess for yesterday, I guess E11.

-female author
- middle grade
- for ATY challenge (not sure if we finished that one?)
Updated page count: 297
Starting When Breath Becomes Air

I did manage to finish Looking for Alaska, which was for an ATY prompt (book from the first 10 on your TBR).
I read 105 pages of that, plus at the library today, I read Purple, Green and Yellow to one of the participants I work with. I'm not counting it toward any of my reading challenges, but it's an extra 32 pages read. That brings my total pages overall up to 665.
Purple, Green and Yellow can count toward the rainbow potentially because of all the colours in the title, or as a book with a child main character. Or just as a picture book.
I also mentioned the other day (yesterday, I think?) that I read Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, but I'm not sure if that ended up getting counted toward anything. That one also could be a picture book, child main character, colour in the title, etc.

A romance
Published more than 10 years ago
It was also my 3rd book started and finished during the read-a-thon.
Last night I read Fyrtøjet in one sitting and it's a picture book.

I've been listening to my audio a bit again this morning, and will have some reading time this afternoon while the Spider is at art class. I feel like I'm really slacking off though. ☹️
I've participated in all of the games so far, including the Candy one.

I finished Bonfire which is my 3rd book finished.
Bonfire also has a female author and works for one word title or mystery/thriller.
I've participated in all the games up to today's Scrabble.
It seems we have a bunch of team guesses remaining so once we see whether the most recent guesses are, we should start using them!

G3 is a hit. E11 is a miss.
I’ll update with new guesses earned as soon as I can.

Kathy Jo - one guess for The Family Under the Bridge
Rachel - three guesses (Looking for Alaska, Purple Green Yellow, Lily’s Purple Plastic Purse)
Marina H - four guesses (Back to the Bedroom, Fyrtøjet, book in one sitting, three books total)
Rachelnyc - one guess (for Bonfire)
We also have another team guess for two books by a female author.
Good work team! We’re only half way through the week and we’ve earned lots of guesses and sunk three ships already.
