Chapter 14 (view spoiler)[ I’m not enjoying Juliette’s character at all. She was tolerable last book when she was “weak” and whiny. Now she’s just whiny, immature, reckless, thoughtless, sobbing and making the stupidest misplayed. Ugh and she’s sooo dramatic about everything. Girl, can’t you wait till they finish telling you everything? She’s gonna blow up everything again for no reason. Honestly, I don’t think what they doing to Adam was that bad before she blew up the lab. He consented to it and like Castle said, most people have been through these tests already. Yes it might not be the most ethical but people are getting answers about who they, how they can control themselves and what they can do. It’s eeally their choice. Juliette is just being whiny about all of it without even looking at the facts. Oh and Adam’s really annoying for not telling her anything. It would have prevented what happened at the lab. So I have read this before and my comments will be mostly replies, but I like the new direction this book is offering andd I cannot wait to learn more about Omega Point and all the powers.
And of course I cannot wait for Juliette and Warner to reunite!

I have never been a fan of Adam and he is so dramatic and I was so happy about the speech Kenji gave to Juliette. I mean, nothing wrong with them being together, but you're trying to survive, so do something! Or at least, do not bother the ones that do.

(view spoiler)[The first time I read the book I didn't know what to think about them experimenting on Adam because I did not trust them yet, but looking back to it, she does overeact. Though as you said, Adam could have talked to her or given her a heads up (or Kenji, for that matter, once Juliette forces him to show her). However, I have to say that, she doesn't know how to control her power. She doesn't even know what she can do! And her training alone is not a good idea because she has no idea what to do.
I agree with what Kenji said, that even if she doesn't want to, she is dangerous. That is why it surprised me that she was "training" alone at the beginning. Yeah, nobody wanted to train with her, but at least give her some instructions!
Oh and yes, she's very whiny, but I believe she gets better, and given everything she has endured, it's a miracle she is not worse. (Adam makes her even whinier though) (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 40. Yes I know I didn’t make any updates but it was kinda hard to. (view spoiler)[ Wow they’re brothers. They would be brothers fighting over the same girl. Luckily I’m the type of person that enjoys cliches like this. That makes so much more sense about the whole touch immunity thing to Juliette! It only a book and a half to get to that answer! I’m glad we’re seeing more of Waren again! I missed him. I do feel bad for Adam and what he’s been through. Anderson has been a terrible father to both of his sons. (hide spoiler)]

Finally we see Juliette leaving Omega !!! and we see Warner for the 1st time in this book. I really liked that scene where she sees him with the dog and he´s cuddling him, so sweet! She was really not expecting it. And then comes Kenji that "saved" her from being seen!!! this is my Warner (hide spoiler)]

Juliette’s character is growing a bit in the book, but she’s also becoming more negative and annoying. She hasn’t done much in the first 13 chapters, such as try to meet new people, work on controlling her ability, etc. Instead she mopes around kind of feeling sorry for herself. I’m struggling with the character growth in this book... I know we’re supposed to be feeling empathy for Juliette, and we’re starting to understand her feeling of loneliness much more in this book, but she is just so negative and whiny!

Examples from chapter 15-

I am a horrible, selfish, pathetic monster. I allowed myself to forget, to be greedy and stupid because I wanted what I couldn’t have. I managed to out myself as the terror I’ve always been accused of being. (My parents were right to get ride of me.) I cling to something like hope, to a thread of maybes and possibilities and perhapses. But I should have listened when my parents told me that things like me aren’t allowed to have dreams. (Things like me are better off destroyed, is what my mother said to me.)

Agh- learn to fix it!!! I hope this is the “rock bottom” for her and she learns to pick herself up and rest of these books is her being awesome and a great role model for teenage girls!

I'm kinda sick of Juliette feeling sorry for herself. And acting like a brat. That's all she's done in this book so far and endanger the lives of so many people. Bringing the tunnel down because you're pissed off is not gonna win people over, Juliette!!

(view spoiler)[ I enjoyed parts of this book...I wish I cared more about the characters though...I think that would make the love triangle more interesting for me, but right now, I don't like Juliette's character a ton, so it's tough for me to root for anyone being with her.

I liked Warner's character growth the most in this book, but I felt Adam's character didn't have a point except to add drama to the story. There was just so much drama! Didn't love the ending, but interested to see where the story goes next!

(view spoiler)[ Well, I’m finally getting a little more into the story. It helps that I switched to the audiobook version. The little crossed out sections aren’t so bad on audiobook. Anyway, omg?!?! Did she just kill Warren’s dad?!?! And Warren basically admitted to being obsessively in love with her. So bizarre to me. She’s beautiful, but she’s also pretty whiny and totally self deprecating, which is a huge negative for me. I know!!! It’s like a train accident I can’t look away from!!!! This is going to be 2 stars for me unless a miracle pulls it out in the last 79 pages.... totally doubtful.

I absolutely agree with Shanarra. There are so many wonderful dystopian books out there. It’s unfortunate this is the one you are reading first. Please check out my read-dystopian bookshelf if you’re interested in some really good ones. It’s one of my favorite sub genres.
