No, standard humor is not my cup of tea in books, and this is another example of it. I've finished it because I had chosen for Bingo and I hadn't found another thing which was interesting for me.. or I hadn't read it. For me, it has been like watching a cartoon for teens: so much pee and poo from the demon dog, so much "inner voice", so much blabbing, so much "I don't like it but I'm going to climb or bed you".
No, it's not my kind of book, and I guess not my kind of series either.

Review: What to say about this book? I loved it. I hated it. I cried. But only a little. I should have known what to expect. After all, this is the same author who made us feel sorry for Cinder's Queen Levana. But I held out hope for Cath's HEA right up until the last hour (I was listening). Meyer excels at weaving together so many pieces of a fairy tale into something completely new.

It's been fun playing with all of you!

I'll finish up my spin off book today regardless & if Natalie does the same we'll have a full card :)
Don't forget to watch out for the big Stats rollout, probably next week.

Book: The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan
How it fits: Tagged as spin-off twice
Rating: 3.5/5
Date read: 5/22/2018
Review:
I'm a big fan of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series. I'm not as familiar with Norse Mythology as I am with Greek/Roman. I did enjoy this book, but not as much as his previous books.
Magnus came off as a more surly Percy and there were a few too many similarities to the first Percy Jackson.
I did like how he brought Norse Mythology into modern times. That was where he excelled in his other series and it continues in this one. It was published in 2015 and at that point there had been multiple marvel movies featuring Thor, and while there is at least one direct reference, I think there could have been a few more. Just one Hemsworth or Hiddlestone name drop?
I'll probably continue the series. Not sure when.

It's been fun playing with all of you!"
Darn, I was hoping we may get one more week. I had fun playing with all of you and once Sandra posts her review I'll request our final stamp!

Sophie Ross, magic user, is on leave from consulting with the LAPD following being shot 3 times. She still has nightmares.
She's given a fantastic opportunity to go to the UK and see if she can get into a manor that has been broken, and if she can its hers along with an annuity. The manor has been built over a broken passageway to an other land.
Sophie ends up in the middle of a war between the Light Fae Queen (the baddie) and the few remaining Dark Fae Knights (the goodies) left trapped on Earth, after Morgan, Head of the Queens Hounds has broken all the passageways.
Sophie & Nickolas have an instant attraction but both are reeling from their pasts. Sophie is her own woman, and Nickolas has that old time protect the little woman thing happening.
They both got annoying throughout the middle of the book, with too much angst and it wasn't till things started happening that I've bumped it up half a star & then rounded up to 4.
I really liked the world carried over from the Elder Races books, but this isn't my favourite by a long shot. I'll continue reading though, cause the Fae war needs an outcome.

Hope everything works out for your family Laura, and once again Marisa, keeping us all entertained :)
Keep an eye out for the stats early next week :D
