I'm struggling with the necromancers shelf, but there's a book from my TBR that I just saw on the list. But it's 154 pages.

And the 200 page rule is in the Rules Post in the Bingo folder.

I checked there and didn't see it. But I was skimming. :)
I found another one, though. One I would rather read, anyway.

We're having people over tomorrow for a bbq, people the hubby worked with before he retired in December, so I've never met them - cleaning frenzy happening here :(

After your frenzy there, you can pop over to my house. You know since it's so close! LOL!

Our guests have now gone, and I can't stop yawning ~ its only 6.50pm Saturday night. Is it wrong to want to curl up & go to sleep ......

I'm in NC and Marisa is in Madrid. Maybe Sandra needs to do a world tour. ~;-)

Review:
The Mane Event consists of two novellas set in a world with shifters. The first story, reunites Mace Llewellyn with his childhood crush, Dez MacDermot. Mace is a lion shifter whose family has just lost one of its males. The second novella picks up right after with Brendon Shaw, also a lion shifter, and Ronnie Lee Reed, a wolf shifter, who meet in the aftermath of the first story.
Both stories were fine, I was a bit confused on the world. At first, I assumed that shifters were known to the general public, but in the first story, Mace does have to reveal himself to Dez and while she's a bit shocked, she accepts the idea rather quickly. Brendon and Ronnie also have to come to terms with being from different species, but this issue I felt got more coverage and I was more satisfied with the conclusion.
I've read other books with paranormal creatures that are in hiding and there was much more care to keep their existance hidden. The way it was handled in this book confused me. I may continue the series at some point, but it's not a priority.

Gwen Miller, a human, who lives & works at a haunted B&B, stands up for a female shifter who was physically beaten by the entitled local bully with the rich dad & his thug mates. This doesn't go down well with the said dad who does everything to get her to recant her testimony to the Shifter Council.
Along comes Zander Devlin & Bracken from the Mercury Pack, who are staying at the B&B as Zander's uncle has passed away & they are having a Will reading.
Lots of shenanigans with Zander protecting Gwen & her family from the bullies and also from his twin, Rory, who didn't get anything from the Will.
As always alpha males & strong women, whether shifter or human inhabit SW's work. I'm a fan!

Jim Butcher never disappoints! Harry Dresden continues to be one of my favorite wizards of all time. His life has gotten complicated through the years, but that is all the more endearing. He learns, he makes mistakes, and he tackles world-ending problems with grit and determination. I just wish he could find a woman to love! :)

I'm half-way through my Necromancer book, its good but surprisingly slow going, not sure why.
And a new shelf is due in about 20 minutes :)

Please ignore all the kid's books, someone obviously called their kid Hunter.

Necromancer review pending (I hope to write it today)

I’ll check the next in series, though. :)

Sorry, I did see that, but not when I was by a computer to update and then forgot. It's in there now. Enjoy, I really liked that series.
Also I can only find requirements of >200 pages, no graphic novels, all stories in an anthology must be read, and only books can be reread during challenge. So I think childrens >200 is fine, especially when it has YA as a MPG.

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'shifters'.
[Your updated BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D

Thanks Missy Steph :)

Review
I'm not so sure about this book. It hasn't been a difficult read but it hasn't been an entertaining one either. the humor inside the book hasn't appealled to me, it was more a dud moment than a laugh. Neither bad enough to leave it nor good enough to want to read all the time. I feel both MCs as bi-dimensional pictures which don't fit with the allegedly background, mainly the hero, and it's too much "pim, pam, pum, that's all" for my current mood.
I don't think I'm going to read more books in this series in some time.

I'm going to go with Ruins of Gorlan. I need YA books for another group next month, and Poison Study would be a re-read for me.

Set in Victorian England, Charlie (Charlotte Holloway) was thrown out of home & lived on the streets for 5 yrs, as a 13 yr old boy.
This was a fairly complex plot regarding the world-building with Charlie being a Necromancer & her father a local vicar who thought she was possessed by the devil, hence her banishment to the streets.
Lincoln Fitzroy, a man raised to be the leader of a secret society dedicated to the welfare of the royal family, is searching for her to prevent her falling into the hands of a mysterious villain.
Fitzroy, was basically an antihero, and Charlie became a soft fragile little thing as soon as she had a bath, food & a clean bed. Not the person who survived on the London streets for 5 years.
This should of been a rollicking, humorous, action packed story but sadly it became a slog to get through. No romance, no funny moments that stand out, a few TSTL moments that do stand out. Don't think I'll be reading any more of this series, but if I need a green gorgeous cover I may do, as all the books in this series have those.

Angel's Pawn
This was the first book I read of this series, in a moment I knew I liked Nalini Singh but I was fed up with vamps and angels are not my favorite heros. In that moment, it was a very nice change of pace and today, almost ten years later, it's still a very good novella (better because I already know Janvier and Ashwiny's story).
Angel's Judgment
Although the story is the second in the book, I think it's the first one in the time arc of the series, as it shows when Sara became the Guild Director. Both MC are strong characters, and I dind't dislike the story of some of the secondary characteres (Sha, Lucy ;) ). It's curious to see it know when the relationship between Rafael and the humans has changed so much.
Angel's Wolf
A very sad and happy story, at the same time, about love of any kind. A very beautiful, beatiful novella.
Angel's Dance
The most classic courtship but, in some sense, I miss something in it. I don't know exactly the reason, perhaps because the characters are so different from the current ones (although you can find them there).
Anyway, a nice book where all the stories are solid by themselves.

Book: Abhorsen
How it fits: Tagged as necromancers five times

Review:
Abhorsen picks up right where the book Lirael left off. Lirael and Sam are accepting their new fates and dealing with a world ending threat along with the Disreputable Dog and Mogget. Overall I really enjoyed this book and its ending. I'm not sure if I will pick up the newer books as I'm pretty satisfied with where it ended.
