Thank you, Lorii. Our patients generally do quite well. Today was just one of those days when several things seemed to go wrong. Thank goodness for world class anesthesia providers.

Review:
Sebastian St Cyr, Viscount Devlin is asked by his aunt to investigate the murder of her good friend, the Bishop of London. While the mystery unfolds, we learn that events from the previous book have consequences. This side story is masterfully woven into the intricate plot, which includes, politics, the Crown the Church, and American loyalists of the present day (1812) and thirty years prior. Ms Harris has the reader continually speculating, and in the words of our hero “Why is it,” he said, drawing up in front of his house on Brook Street, “that every time I begin to think I’m getting a handle on the events surrounding this murder, I suddenly discover I really don’t know what’s going on at all?” A dark and gritty historical mystery with great attention to detail.

Review — This installment had so much stuff going on, but man did it all work beautifully! Usually, with three distinct storylines going at the same time it is easy to get lost or overburdened, but each story flowed well and work with each other to provide an action-packed story from start to finish. There are some interesting plot points building and I can’t wait to see where Charley’s story goes from here!

A murder was taking place
Sylvester Yost is an assassin who is paid very well to murder. He kills a young maid in one of Roarke's hotel's and creates a stream of chaos. The continued murders point to Roarke being the final target.
Roarke is hosting an auction for an admired actress in the hotel. is there a common link?
I continue to gush about this series. There is quite simply not anything that I don't enjoy about it. I love watching Eve and Roarke's relationship grow and mature. I adore how Eve is starting to realize that she does have friends and her awkward baby steps towards preserving those friendships.
It greatly amuses me that Eve is not afraid of anything except Trina, the beauty diva. That cracks me up each time Trina is in the storyline.
Peabody so wants to be like Eve but she is still much to human to reach the coolness of Eve Dallas. I felt so badly for her and McNab in this book.
The introduction of Roarke's friend Mick from Ireland to me was a huge foreshadowing. It gave us a bit more information about the dark life that Roarke led before he became who he is today.
Once again I read through this book rather quickly then went back and re-read it at a more leisurely pace. I'm like Peabody in that I want to watch Eve and Roarke together over and over. it doesn't matter if it is in anger or love. The scene in the parking garage was one of my favorites. I'm not sure that I could have been Peabody at that point and kept my back turned to my favorite couple.
This is my most highly recommended series.

New author, New series for me.
3.5 stars for me, closer to a 4 star than 3 star read
It took me a little while to get into the story and to get a handle on this new world that i felt thrust into. I thought this was an interesting read and different take on magic and shifters from anything else that I have read in the past. I love badass female leads and Kate definitely fits that description.
As I made my way further into the book I was hooked by the characters, action and suspense. I knew that I had found a new series.

Review:
At a normal high school, having class outside on a gorgeous May day is usually pretty awesome.
Unfortunately for Sophie Mercer an outside class is not really awesome. Ms. Vanderlyden (the Vandy) has Sophie tossed into a campus pond to prove that witches can release their bonds and survive a drowning. Since Sophie is also part demon the theory doesn't work quite so well. Sophie's dad just happens to arrive as she saves herself from the spell protected waters. Sophie is adamant about going through with the Removal. Her dad convinces her to come to England to learn more about her demon roots. She agrees as long as Jenna can come along. Mr. Mercer requests that Cal accompany them as well.
I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I loved Sophie so much in Hex Hall. I loved that she was smart and snarky and could hold her own. I felt that she became a little too passive at times in this book. I love Jenna. She is probably my favorite character and one of the reasons that I kept reading.
Then we started circling the Twilight theme. Sigh. Sophie is almost obsessed with Archer who is a part of the L'Occhio di Dio (The Eye) which is trying to destroy demons. Cal with his healing talents is a much more appropriate suitor. I guess you can see where my loyalty would lie in choosing "teams".
The first three quarters of the book were almost blah for me. I caught myself skimming over pages and still grasping the main story line. The final quarter of the book is the only thing that kept this review from being two stars.
I'm not sure that I will continue with the next book.

Review — This was a powerhouse from beginning to end! Revenant and Blaspheme are both damaged creatures, who somehow end up on each other’s radars. While the previous book told us Reaver’s story, this book brings it full circle with Revenant’s tale. He is an angry angel trying to figure out where he fits in the world...Blaspheme knows where she wants to fit, but is struggling to maintain a centuries-old secret. Both of these characters are led by half truths and flat out lies, but somehow manage to create a strong bond to each other. I love Reaver and was skeptical that I could come to love Revenant, but darn it...it was not hard to fall hard for this dark angel!

How it fits: Shelved as Demons Page 20
Review:
Chaos Rises is the first installment in the spin off series of The Veil. It was an easy book to read because the world building had already been accomplished in the parent series. Chaos Rises is set on the other side of the country with a different set of characters but we do find some of the plot threads that were left hanging from the last book Ties That Bind answered in this one. I really enjoyed it but as is typical of Pippa Dacosta there are many threads to follow so it feels unfinished. I didn't fall in love immediately but I am looking forward to continuing the rest of the series arc.

How it fits: Shelved as Shifters - Page 8
Review:
Burn Bright is the fifth installment of the Alpha and Omega series and the 15th when combined with the Mercy Thompson series. It begins at the end of Silence Fallen book #10 of Mercy Thompson. There are minor spoilers if you haven't read the Mercy Thompson series. It is one of those series that is best read combined.
I liked that we get to see the ongoing evolution of Anna and Charles' relationship. The story continues past the promise of a HEA in the first book. We see them living the ups and downs of it. This is a major strength of this series. Anna's skills as an Omega are growing and Charles lends her his strength when she needs it. Brother Wolf is another character I adore. However the revelation of the motives of one of the main-stays of the combined series has many people threatening to boycott the rest of the series and indeed it does make me a trifle wary as well.
While I really enjoyed parts of this book, I found the initial part quite slow going. The last 40% of the book was brilliant and redeems the somewhat slow start. Holter Graham's narration was excellent as always. 3.5 stars.

Review — I love the Lords of the Underworld series, so I hoped I’d love this series straight off...not so much. The world-building aspects of the book work great for me, but the characters fell flat. I just couldn’t buy into the romance with so much animosity between Darius and Grace. They seemed to go from disliking and distrusting each other to being each other’s soul mate in a nanosecond. I’m good with the instalove thing, but there needs to be a stronger transition for cases like this where the two are so polar opposites. I’m still interested in seeing where this world goes, so I’ll certainly try the next book in the series!

Review:
Paranormal romance. A quick and easy read. I always enjoy a series where we continue to see the ongoing relationships of previous couples. Loved Connor, the hero who was a previous bad boy. Chloe didn't really stand out as the heroine and in fact had a few TSTL moments. I enjoyed the progression of the series story arc. Lots was revealed about special talents and background relationships. However, the heavy concentration on the story arc sidelined the love story between Connor and Chloe. It was insta-lust, but we didn't see them falling in love or simply getting to know each other. Weaker than the previous two books in the series.
