Naughty books indeed!!Maybe they're planning a surprise for you ;-)
Perfume is a VERY weird story. The smell descriptions are fantastic though.
Sorry about the jinx haha - but I was actually only hoping not to get Spin Off, ooops ;-) Right, let me see what I can read for that shelf.

I think I'll go with one of the shorter ones so it's easier to catch up. But will see once I'm done with my Hunter book and once I've decided what I want to read for Urban Fantasy.
Even though this shelf is useless to us, I’m kinda excited since I’ve been in the mood for horror lately. Probably because I saw A Queit Place last week and have been obsessing over it.But I’ll decide on my book once I finish my UF book, which is Moon Over Soho. I’m going to Germany for week on Sunday and I’m hoping to finish before I leave.

Haha I think it might just be Frankenstein. I swear I have three copies of that book but can never seem to locate them!

Read half of it last night and I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm not always a fan of dark, but I must be in the right mood right now. :) Also, I thought it was an incredibly long book for some reason but it is under 300 pages, so that is awesome. I'm already inching through a long book, one is enough at a time.
Victoria wrote: "But I’ll decide on my book once I finish my UF book, which is Moon Over Soho. I’m going to Germany for week on Sunday and I’m hoping to finish before I leave. "Damn you, that book looks awesome. Now I have to add that series to my TBR mountain.

 "I'm rooting for
. One of my favourite books of all time and one of the few excellent novels that also has an awesome movie.

Good to know! I've been putting it off for years now, and I have no idea why. Maybe I should really just finally read it haha.

haha that TBR mountain only ever gets higher!
And I agrees, To Kill a Mockingbird is an excellent book! Although why it's listed as a gothic horror is beyond me.

Review: Odd book. For the most part I liked it. Until the end. Then it was ridiculous. I honestly don't know what else to say about this book. It wasn't gothic. It wasn't really horror either. It was just odd.
Right?? Very odd book and the ending.. yeah, let's not talk about the ending.Didn't consider this Gothic Horror either, but I guess the tags come from people who watched the movie, which makes Grenouille into much more of a mass murderer and person to be feared than he actually is.
I didn't know there was a movie. I can't really recommend the book. It wasn't bad by any means, just hard to explain. I think the author was attempting to be shocking and provocative by his ending, but it was just a failure to me. But the descriptions were excellent.

The movie came out a few years ago but I never watched it, only saw the trailer and didn't like it. Or wait... I think it was on TV a few weeks ago and I watched the beginning actually. Did not like it, did not like the actor for Grenouille.

Anita has a contract on her and she is more concerned about how Richard feels than staying alive. Luckily she has Edward as her protector. Anita chooses Richard but can't put up with his unwillingness to kill for his pack. Anita is still self focused and thinks of herself only to change her mind when she thinks she is protecting a "friend." She is still annoying and its shocking that this is the first time that someone is paying to have her killed is shocking.

I finished my uf book, going to try and write a review tomorrow and also starting Wuthering Heights for gothic horror tomorrow.

Hello team! Hope everyone is well. I'm working much, reading little right now. :DLooking forward to next shelf call, although odds say it will be our last week. Boo!
The odds really aren't in our favour for another week, but hey, at least we'll get this shelf call - better than nothing, right? ;-)I'm finishing up my last 60 or so pages of my Hunter book (gosh, I've fallen so behind with this slow but good read). And I'll continue with my gothic horror book tonight, which isn't actually gothic horror at all, but tags! I'm about half-way through Mockingbird for that shelf.
And I keep changing my UF book because nothing really screams "read me now!!". I wanted to read the next Iron Druid book but decided against it. I think I'm finally set on The Lies of Locke Lamora though.

Review
It's always a pleasure to walk into a new series not knowing quite what to expect and to come out surprised and thoroughly enjoying the book.
This is a book I've had my eye on for a while but it took me quite some time to pick it up because I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not. I'm glad I finally read it. Rachel isn't exactly the typical heroine with her sometimes utterly clueless behaviour. It struck me as odd at times that she seemed so uncertain about a lot of things concerning Inderlanders considering she is one herself and has lived in the Hollows for most of her life.
Ivy... well, I'm still not a fan of her but maybe once I get to know her a little more that will change. She came across as very volatile for the most part and as though whatever went wrong in their relationship was Rachel's fault, despite them considering each other friends. A very odd combination.
Jenks was quite simply awesome, and so is his family. Nick seems nice but is hiding too much yet for me to form a proper opinion on him.
And Trent, our resident villain so to speak, I love him. Most of the plot involved him and it was often a slow build before some kind of action hit but the story nevertheless kept pulling me forward and I wanted to know more.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next book to learn more about certain people, and to see how certain things pan out.
Sorry for falling so far behind! Slow reads and not always a lot of reading time, meh. I'm already half-way through Mockingbird though - my "gothic horror" book hehe. Work permitting, as I'm doing sneak reading here at the moment, I'll be done with it by tomorrow.Fingers crossed for a good shelf call tonight! :-D
No worries Eldarwen. No one is that far behind and since our card doesn't allow us a win this week, why worry too much about anything? :D Besides,

is a short little thing but

is a chunkster. I've been meaning to read that book for years too. Just never seem to get around to it. So many books, so little time.

If you were participating in Tower Teams, I'd say, let's do a BR of it, right now haha.Mockingbird really is surprisingly short. I always thought it had more pages, but the paper in this old edition is just fairly thick so it looked chunkier than it actually is.
So many books indeed! To the point that for some shelves you just can't decide what to read!

Oh ffs.....Good thing I kept the ONE book on that shelf in reserve for this eventuality.
Though now I'm wondering if I should read it since I still have my UF to catch up on and the game might be over in a couple of days anyway. I'll go do some stalking to see how fast they might be done ;-)
CONGRATULATIONS, One and Done! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'hunter'.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit with its easy flow and likeable characters. Apart from Atticus, I didn't feel particularly strongly about any of them but they were all likeable in their own right, even Aunt Alexandra with her airs.
What really struck me though was how very little humanity has evolved in all these years since the book was written, how incredibly pertinent the moral of the story still is today and just how ridiculously hypocritical people are when things happen somewhere else and can easily be condemned even while they're doing the exact same thing under slightly different circumstances in their own town/country.
And diving into my Urban Fantasy book!I'm intrigued so far. If I can fit in some quality reading time this weekend, I might even get a good chunk read of this 500 page monster hehe.
Thanks Sandra!I haven't even started my Spin Off book. Completely forgot about it actually. :D I guess this challenge is already over in my mind, even though it isn't.
I will start tonight.
I'm glad you liked To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus Finch and Cousin Matthew from Anne of Green Gables have always been my book heroes.

Review:
I'm having so much fun reading this series!
The world-building and characters are all great. I love the magic system and seeing how Peter does his best to learn magic (and latin), as well as seeing his innovation to make magic a bit more modern. I also just really love his character. He's not the type of MC I would think I'd love, but he's written so well I absolutely love him. Not sure how to actually describe him...
I think the weakest aspect of the book was the plot. It wasn't bad, and I still really liked it, but it felt a little disjointed and all over the place.
Overall, a great book and I'm excited to continue with the series! (especially after that ending!)
Finally wrote my review (a week later) lolAnd I just finished
, which I thought I could use for spin-off, but it's only 196 pages, 4 pages short!!

Review: This is a cute YA series spin off of a cute YA series. It focuses completely on the younger generation of Cahills, pushing the agenda that the adults are now not only evil, they are also incompetent and completely outclassed by the 15 year olds. :D
I enjoy the history and the travel parts the most. I would have adored these books when I was a kid. I hate the cliffhanger ending though. I always feel like the author is trying to force me to read the next book immediately and I don't want to read a whole series in a row. You failed Gordon Korman, I'm reading a different book now. ;D

So very close! And I didn't know there was yet another series out by Carriger. I still haven't finished Parasol Protectorate... oops. Only the last book left though, for the past 3 years, I think haha.
