Jane (PS) | 24338 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a great to know when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Team Captain - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme of SNOW WHITE, come up with a fun name. We are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 7 March.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2.

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A Annoucement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week if Option 2 is used, members must select their book from another team. This will be advised in the week 11 announcement.

The format for selection posts Option 1:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please insert a link to the qualifying bookshelf/list.
If the theme is based off the bookcover or a letter in the title etc, please just repeat the theme.

The format for selection posts Option 2:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

Format for completion posts:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

Jane (PS) | 24338 comments I'll be tracking each team's progress separately, using the Captain's summary in each team's thread to check for accuracy.

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 437 comments Hi Team,
My name is Linda and this is my first time as Captain. But I have been in this challenge several times and felt it was time to make the leap. I love this challenge!

I live in Upstate NY/EST and am a retired librarian, i.e., have time and am organized. Hope that makes this easy.

If you have questions, please check the introductory post first; if you are still unclear, ask. If I can't answer it I will get your answer.

Looking forward to getting to know each of you. Please introduce yourself and throw out a suggestion for a team name (SNOW WHITE related)

message 15: by lorii (Loriidae) (new)

lorii (Loriidae) Hi everyone, waving hello from the steamy tropics of far north Queensland, Australia. I am a retired teacher, and now teach embroidery, and other art techniques at my local craft group.

My hubby is currently working out of town, so lots of evenings to read. (The television hasn't been switched on since he left a week ago - so peaceful) We have a 26 year old son (still currently at home but working long hours) and a very spoiled kitty cat, named Georgiana (after Mr Darcy's sister).

Love to read, have always preferred it to any other activity. Over the last couple of years I have become adicted to audiobooks, and now housework isn't so much of a drag, they also make the gym bearable.

As to names, I am no good at that sort of thing - hopefully someone else has a brainwave.

HeatherMarie (heathermariereads) | 698 comments Hello!
I'm HeatherMarie from a town near Dallas/Fort Worth. Historical and paranormal are my favorite romance genres. Also LOVE audiobooks. This is my first time doing this challenge.

Brainstorm for team name?
Poisoned Apples
Lucky Number Sevens
Darling Dwarves
Mirrored Misfits
Fairest of Them All

message 18: by Alexa (new)

Alexa (psreadthisbook) | 313 comments Hello everyone! I'm Alexa and am very excited to join in. This is one of my favorite challenges.

I'm an elementary school teacher in Minnesota. Tired of the snow and very excited that this challenge should take me up into the warm season. It makes it feel as if it's not far away now.

I read mainly at night after my family has gone to bed. I have recently fallen in love with audiobooks. Although, I struggle to follow them perfectly as I tend to multitask. I have mainly been using them as a method or rereading favorites. I'll read pretty much anything in the romantic genre. I think contemporary is still my favorite... But it is really hard for me to tell. I love any good love story. I do read some mm, not a ton but once in awhile one will catch my interest.

Names are hard for me. I'll have to think on that tonight.

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 437 comments Hi everyone,
I forgot to mention that I like anything with a bit of romance, particularly urban fantasy, paranormal (except vampires), and mysteries of all types.

I like HeatherMarie's suggestion of Fairest of Them All - can be taken as beauty or fair-minded - both work for me ;-)

message 20: by lorii (Loriidae) (last edited Mar 03, 2018 02:11AM) (new)

lorii (Loriidae) I forgot to mention that when you look at my read shelf count, it's very low. For the last 6 months of books you will need to look at 2017 read and 2018 read. :)

I read a lot of urban fantasy and pnr - preferably with romance, romantic suspense and historicals. I rarely read contemporaries, hence this challenge - spreading my wings.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello everyone! My name is Sarah and I am from Toronto, Canada.

This is my second time doing the challenge and I had a blast the first time around :)

I love contemporary, historical and romantic suspense. Favorite authors are Kristan Higgins, Heather Graham, and Julia Quinn!

message 22: by Alexa (new)

Alexa (psreadthisbook) | 313 comments I am really struggling to come up with names.

I like Mirrored Misfits... but I think I just like the alliteration of it. I also like Fairest of the them all.

I'm really not picky at all with group names though. I'm happy with anything.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I like Fairest of Them All as well!

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 680 comments Hhhhmmmm so I live in New Zealand, which is the first country in the morning to see the sun. Also home to Narnia and Lord of the Rings :D

I'm 21, in my last year of uni, which is going to be very tough. Not so much reading this year due to uni, gym and work as well as study.
I'm living out of home with my boyfriend, who you'll probably hear me talk about in the future.

I've just gotten my insta recently up and running if anyone's interested in that :)

Alexa (psreadthisbook) | 313 comments Welcome Loriidae! I love PIFM and M&G as well, but I stopped doing those challenges after realising that having a tbr shelf honestly just doesn't work for me. Since they are pretty necessary for those challenges I dropped them.

PTP is definitely a favorite though, they are a lot of fun.

This question from the Q&A section should answer your question

Q: My book doesn't have a page count on Goodreads but I have the word count. Can I use the word count and what is the minimum acceptable?
A: Yes - a 35,000 minimum word count will be accepted as a substitute for the 100 page minimum. Because the word count to page conversion varies greatly, I have gone at the high end for this conversion.

Or has it been changed to the date of September 8th 2017? If so, does that person need to have read it after 8th September 2017 for me to be able to read it?

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 680 comments THANK YOU ALEXA FOR ACTUALLY READING A LITTLE YA! Everyone who does these types of challenges only reads paranormal/urban fantasy or smut/romance and that's not my cup of tea.
