Team I: There's No I In Team
Anna wrote: "I've started The NunI'll also read At the Mountains of Madness ..."
I've just finished At the Mountains of Madness for Professor MC. It was heavy going at times but the last chapter has really creeped me out. Wasn't expecting that at all!
It'll be interesting to see what you think. That Lovecraft has a WEIRD imagination.
Cherie wrote: "Hi team. I'm checking in. I've started my first book for Starts with a V, Valkyrie Rising and I'm off to catch the MAX train into Portland."...clutching book. I'm grinning imagining it ; )
I've started reading / listening to The Snow Child for female author. I have it on ebook and audiobook, so will switch between the two. Will also be ok for trees on cover, snow on cover, standalone, set in United States (Alaska), author debut
I didn't get to read as much as I had hoped. Why do people try to talk to you when it is obvious you are reading? A woman kept asking me what time it was about every 10 minutes, until she got off. It was windy and cold in Portland. I always forget that it is never as nice as out on the west side, where I live. I got to the competition just in time to see my granddaughter and her team and stayed for several hours, until my back was killing me from sitting in the cramped seats and having to get up because people wanted in and out of the row. No one sits still. It is constant up and down. I finally left after I watched the team that was expected to win. My daughter said there were still three teams left, after I texted her that I was back in Hillsboro. She has a two and one half hour bus ride home with the team after they are all done. I don't know how she does it!She has to be at work to open the restaurant tomorrow morning at 6 am and it takes almost an hour for her to drive to work, unless she rides her motorcycle. Ok, back to reading...

They think you're only reading out of boredom and because you've too much time on your hands..
Your daughter sounds so dedicated. She must love cheer leading.
I finished Lord's Fall for the free space and posted it in the reporting thread. I've now started a book for card #2: witches--Hex Hall. It also fits several categories for #1: animal on cover, 1st in series, YA, vampires/werewolves/ghosts, & female author
I've finished Hex Hall and am starting Viscount Vagabond, which will fit several categories on both cards 1 & 2.
How's everyone doing?I've finished book 1 Letters to the Lost and book 2 Speedbump, and in the middle of book 3 Finders Keepers (which I'll probably finish today) and book 4 The Hammer of Thor
I'm in awe. I never ever managed to read a book in 24 hours (at least not one with a minimum of 175 pages) and several people here have finished 2 or 3 already!

I loved it. That's how I like my horror.
I can't always read so fast, but I've been listening to audiobooks, which I can do while knitting, cooking, etc. Even while shoveling snow! Also, I listen at an increased speed, which usually sounds more normal than standard speed anyway. So, I just posted that I finished Viscount Vagabond and am now starting A Dangerous Talent. So far this challenge is encouraging me to read books I've had for a while.

Yeah, my reads so far have been a combination of reading and listening to audiobooks. It's the audiobooks that help you fit in more, because you can carry on 'reading' while doing things like driving, washing up etc.
my 4th book is going to be The Casebook of Carnacki the Ghost Finder card #2
trees on cover, set in 1900s, mc has special powers, mystery, set in England
I've finished The Snow Child for trees on cover, snow on cover, author debut, set in US (Alaska)I'm going to read book 3 next - an Agatha Christie for 'female author'. Doing a lot better than I expected.
After the Funeral

Does that mean you've finished book 3 Anna? I don't have anything in the reporting thread.
Lynn wrote: "Does that mean you've finished book 3 Anna? I don't have anything in the reporting thread. ""
No, I'm currently reading it.
I finished my first book and posted in the reporting thread. I am starting the beach umbrella on the cover book, The Girls of August. I saw that Almeta only gave it two stars.
Valkyrie Risingcould be used for Debut Novel on card two, and also female author, if someone else wants to read it. It will fit in my yearly challenge for the Mythology task and could also be used for female, unmarried and under 20 yo. Ellie is 16 in the story, set in Norway.
Hi allI have started my first book Slave to Sensation too.
It can also fit female author,MC has special power,MC belongs to a group or pack, set in USA, first in the series.
Finished book 3: After the Funeral by Agatha Chrtistie for female author.Have started The Gunslinger on audio for hat on the cover
I'd also like to tackle trees on cover if thats ok with everyone? I cant see page 2 of the spreadsheet on this device to check, but I think it's still clear...?
Annerlee, page 2 has you for trees on cover already :) It says The Snow Child. I really enjoyed that book, hope you do too!edit: hm, the box for trees on cover is coloured and has points, so I think that means it's covered already. But it does have your name and The Snow Child in it. Did you read it already?
Annerlee - That's ok, I can move Snow Child to another category, it's just the first one I picked of the options. Go ahead with the book you have in mind for Trees on the Cover.

Peggy wrote: "Annerlee, page 2 has you for trees on cover already :) It says The Snow Child. I really enjoyed that book, hope you do too!.."I read it at the weekend and really enjoyed it. It has a fantastic sense of 'place'. I could hear, see, taste Alaska in the Summer and especially in the Winter. And I loved Esther!
I didn't read as much in the weekend as I had hoped, but I have a day off today and making good progress with my first book. I'm pretty sure I'll finish it today.
Last night I read A Dangerous Talent, which may or may not fit well depending on what others read. Then I started Zoe's Tale and stayed up way too late listening. Of course, it got pretty intense right when I should have turned out the light to sleep, so I had to listen longer. I'll finish it tonight.
I'm still reading The Casebook of Carnacki the Ghost Finder and will start reading Zombie it could fit card #2, title starts with z, standalone, set 1900s, set in the US, mystery or thriller
Peggy wrote: "I started my second book, Howl's Moving Castle. It's planned for 'First book in a series'"You're on a roll now Peggy!
Has anyone heard from Vicki? She's the only one that hasn't checked in since the Toppler started ....

Yes I have finished my first book Midwives and will start My glasses on the cover now. I'm pretty well into Beastly Bones too- I love the narrator of this series!
Wow everyone's doing so great!I see I am marked on card 2 as Police detective but I don't think I will be able to read for that one after all and I am the only one listed so if anyone can pick it up that would be great. I can always just go to the library and grab something quick though if needed but all the books I own are private detectives which I don't think will work.
I am currently reading
which will fit on card 2 as mc police/detective or mystery or set in usa or published 2018.

No worries Vicki - you weren't down to read that category, just down as a preference. I've now removed it.
Annerlee wrote: "Your daughter sounds so dedicated. She must love cheer leading. ..."I don't know how much she loves Cheer leading, but she does love her daughter. She and her husband have been very supportive of the team. They have driven all over the state to provide food and drinks for the girls when they have been in competitions. You cannot believe what the kids end up eating most of the time. They practically live on granola bars and junk food from the concession stands - that cost so much money. Danyell made the Cheer team when she was a Freshman. Oh - and her team won 4th place in their division at the tournament on Saturday!
I am still reading my 2nd book, The Girls of August. I'm not sure what to think of it right now. It is definitely not my preferred genre.
