Read-a-Thon #1 - Yellow Team Discussion
I just bought a book today and it is a mystery. It can fit under bought, mystery, paperback? It is also a three star book. Also came home today with a 4 star, science fiction fantasy, 2017 book. I also just started The heart of horses, which is a western, historical fiction.
Hey guys! I haven’t met all of you yet but I’m excited to work with you. Haven’t been able to read the full challenge yet as it’s not loading on mobile but I will tonight. This is syllabus week for me so I should be able to participate a good amount and check in several times a day.
Hello Friends! I am still trying to figure out the actual challenge, as I was given an ARC from an author today that doesn`t have any shelves yet! :-/ I can just put that one on the back burner though. We need to figure out who is going to be Team Leader. Then we can figure out which shelves we are going to tackle! I am excited to read away the week with all of you.
What exactly does the team leader do? I’d be willing to if nobody else wants to but I’d want to know what I’m expected to do lol
Hello yellows! I am so excited for this read-a-thon and to read with all of you. I am willing to be team leader.

Okay Team! So if you could comment the titles of the books you read as the week goes on, I will keep track of which shelves they cover and put updates here for everyone!
Ok. I will start with Hearts of Horses tonite. I don't think Westerns will be that popular a topic and I need to read it for book club anyway. After that I can read some obscure topic if you want. Happy reading!
Ann wrote: "Ok. I will start with Hearts of Horses tonite. I don't think Westerns will be that popular a topic and I need to read it for book club anyway. After that I can read some obscure topic if you want. ..."Hearts of Horses is in my TBR list!
Sabrina » No, they cannot. One book per shelf for each team. Otherwise you guys would blow this challenge out of the water on the first day. ;)
One thing to look for in the top shelves of your TBR books is location. Any of these:Africa
Antarctica
Asia
Australia
Europe
North-America
South-America
China
France
Germany
Italy
Malaysia
Mexico
Spain
Thailand
United-Kingdom
United-States
Those will be the hardest shelves to find books for.
Go team!
Thanks Tabitha!!! I am not even halfway through The Black Book by James Patterson & David Ellis, so I am going to start with that one.
Okay. I should finish East of Eden tomorrow (I have 180 pages left). It fits a lot of shelves so we squeeze it wherever we want
Hi Team, I'm glad to be working with you for this challenge! And thanks Tabitha for being our team captain! This week I'm planning to read The Picture of Dorian Gray, which could count for several shelves: abandoned, book-club, books-i-own, currently-reading, own, tbr, to-buy, wishlist, favorite, fantasy, fiction, gothic, horror, mystery, audiobook, kindle, library.
I'm also going to read La Belle Sauvage, which can fill: 2018-reading-challenge, book-club, books-i-own, currently-reading, maybe, own, series, tbr, to-buy, wishlist, adventure, fantasy, fiction, mystery, audiobook, kindle, library.
I am starting today The Sun Is Also a Star for this read-a-thon. I will post later the shelves were it could fit. I have borrowed from the library, in case of this information is useful for the shelves.
Hi team, looking forward to reading along with you all this week. Thanks Tabitha, for volunteering to be our team captainI’m hoping to finish Unaccustomed Earth today (I have more than 125 pages left so it will count) which can count for lots of shelves. I’ll post a whole list when I’ve checked properly.
My next book will be News of a Kidnapping. I’m also hoping to read Truly Madly Guilty before I have to return it to the library. And, if I still have any reading enthusiasm left after that I’ll read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.
Happy Sunday everyone!Have fun reading today!
I will start out by finishing Wrongful Death: The AIDS Trial.
Here is a tally so far of how many books could work for each shelf. I will update this often.Personal

Hey guys happy to be part of the group! I am currently reading Key of Light by Nora Roberts and it can fit in Romance, currently-reading, own, series, mysteryI also plan to read Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne
it can fit in to: France, Sci-Fi, Historical
Also I plan to listen to Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren which would fit into: Young Adult, Audiobook, Adventure, 2018-Reading-Challenge
Got halfway thru The Hearts of Horses last night, my western and the next will be A Dangerous Place which takes place in Spain. I can try and work on location books since I love them.
Hi team!I finished Smaragdgroen by Kerstin Gier.
The only one this can count for that has 0 is: urban-fantasy
But it can count for multiple others too.
Hey Y'all, I almost done finished my right nice western. Yee Hi! It was good, but my family is tired of my cowboy talk. From what I read about locations; Erica has Asia covered, Bryony India and South America, Sarah France and Europe and Lieke Germany? Is this correct? I don't want to tread on anyone, but would like to do Spain and Mexico next. I have both books at home and found out using the library for a one week challenge won't work. Need to own or download. OK with everyone?
I have A Sting in the Tale but am I correct that the shelves must match exactly? There are Britain and English, but not United Kingdom. I can shelve it as a memoir
I have updated the tally in message 26.We can go ahead and lock in the books that cover locations, if you all want to.
They would be-
Asia: Erica reading Men Without Women
or Bryony reading Unaccustomed Earth
South America: Bryony reading News of a Kidnapping
France: Sarah reading Journey to the Center of the Earth
Also, Perri yes the shelves have to match exactly.
I wish there were shelves for these gems: probably-not-depressing, bedtime-reading-for my spawn, adorbs :)
Ann wrote: "Hey Y'all, I almost done finished my right nice western. Yee Hi! It was good, but my family is tired of my cowboy talk. From what I read about locations; Erica has Asia covered, Bryony India and So..."No Germany in the shelves for my book, there is german as it was originally written in German. But is is set in London, unfortunately it doesn't have United-Kingdom as shelf.
I'm about to start Octopus: The Ocean's Intelligent Invertebrate, which hopefully can count toward something on the list. Looking at the shelves now, and I'm not really seeing anything helpful.
Lieke wrote: "Ann wrote: "Hey Y'all, I almost done finished my right nice western. Yee Hi! It was good, but my family is tired of my cowboy talk. From what I read about locations; Erica has Asia covered, Bryony ..." DARN I tried to read the German words but it has been too long.
I have updated the tally in message 26.Let me know if you all want to start locking in shelves.
I will do another update in about 12 hours.
I am almost finished with Wrongful Death: The AIDS Trial. After that I am going to read Accidental Love and Me Before You.
Chinook, it just means deciding which book will cover each shelf, since most books work for more than one shelf.
Just checking in for the day. I am still reading The Black Book. Fingers crossed I can get it done tomorrow. I have plenty of options to read next. I guess it depends more on which shelves we need covered. This East Coaster is off to read herself to sleep......
I'm fine with locking in books now as long as they've already been finished, especially for the more difficult shelves. I read 90 pages of Octopus: The Ocean's Intelligent Invertebrate. I'm debating whether it counts for the Bingo square of 2 hours uninterrupted, because I did but I was multi-tasking at the same time, so I'm not sure that really counts as uninterrupted either.
Ok I finished Key of Light today and we can slot it into any of these spots: Romance, currently-reading, own, series, mystery. Not sure which one we want to use it for.
I finished The AnimatorsCould be used for contemporary, United States, 2017...
Next up I plan to finish Men Without Women and also read On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
And I also just started Thirteen Reasons Why

Hello Yellow Team! Welcome to your 1st read-a-thon of 2018! This topic is just for you to discuss your strategy and progress throughout the week. Make sure to take a moment to read over the rules of the challenge here before you dive in.
It is also helpful, before getting too far into the challenge, for someone to take on the role of Team Leader. This person will keep the team updated on progress throughout the week so they'll need to check in more regularly. If you're interested in taking on that role, please let the team know.
