Roswell, NM (US)


Roswell is a city in New Mexico. It is the county seat of Chaves County in the southeastern quarter of the state of New Mexico, United States.[2] As of the 2010 census it had a population of 48,411,[3] making it the fifth-largest city in New Mexico. It is a center for irrigated farming, dairying, ranching, manufacturing, distribution, and petroleum production. It is also the home of New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI), founded in 1891. Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge is located a few miles northeast of the city on the Pecos River. Bottomless Lakes State Park is located 12 miles (19 km) east of Roswell on US 380.

The investigation and debris recovery was handled by the local Roswell Army Air Field. Roswell is a popular town for tourists from around the country because of its many alien-themed stores, restaurants, museums, and other attractions, including a McDonald's location built in the form of a flying saucer.

I'm not sure how to phrase this. Does this mean that we have to pick either country or city as a group and then everyone has to stick to that one?

I checked again:
read books set in that country or by an author of that country

We only use the city if we chose to spell it out.

So individually (since I think we're all in agreement barring a few) we can either read a book set in America or written by an American.

So for example you could read Born in Fire by Nora Roberts. The book is set in Ireland but the author is American, so it would count. Or you can simply read an American author, where the books setting is in the States.

Just a random question: for the spell-it-out rounds that we've done. Does every member have to read a letter and if we have leftover letters, then other members read two books? Or is it ok that we have members who haven't taken a letter?

I think as long as all the letters are done, one person can read more than one book.

no. I think for this round we need only about five people to read the book. But we usually make sure that everyone who wants to participate does and then we move on to the next stop.

TASKS
◈ Completing a task will earn the team 10 points AND
◈ If at least 6 members of the team read a book that contributes to the tasks, that is an additional 15 points AND
◈ If ALL team members read a book for the time you are at the stop, that is an additional 10 points

DETOURS
◈ Completing a detour earns the team 25 points AND
◈ If at least 7 members of the team read a book for the detour, that is an additional 15 points AND
◈ If ALL team members read a book for the time you are at the stop, that is an additional 10 points

From this it looks like we need a minimum of 6 members in order for it to be considered complete when we are doing the option of reading a book set in a country or an author from that country. I just wanted to check because I started confusing myself
