Christine | 64 comments I added Quicksand to the spreadsheet. It works for #16 on the April mini. (character goes to court)

message 602: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments I moved a few books around to fit a few of mine in. Mostly mine and Cinthia's I think. But all books that were already there are still there. :)

Laura | 2892 comments I've got a book with a heart on the cover that I may be able to get to in time. But if someone else finds something first, feel free!

message 605: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments A little status update:

We've got 8 hands completely done. We only have 2 color cards still to be read! 16 books more will fully complete our hands!

Mini-challenge: 35 books completed. We're halfway there! Of the remaining 35 tasks, only 15 of them still need a book selected!

We're currently in 7th place on the ranking spreadsheet. But we haven't copied any of our mini-challenge info over. When you add in those points, we're in 3rd place!

Sarah Twiggs (twiggssl) | 572 comments Finished Court of Mist and Fury - and holy book hangover! I ordered the third one because I need to know how this ends!

Side note. I have Tale of Two Cities. Should work for author name Charles :-)

message 607: by Kristel (new)

Kristel | 586 comments I did some switching: I put Cinthia's Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things to 27 and Sarah's A Court of Mist and Fury to 23.

message 608: by Christine (new)

Christine | 64 comments I added A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall to the spreadsheet. It works for the mini #48...book with a pink cover.

message 609: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments I've found a short book with the word Chance in the title!

I've got a book with Haiku in the text, but my mom is coming on Sunday for a few days, and that will affect my end of the month reading time. Not sure if I'll be able to get it done, so I won't claim it on the spreadsheet yet.

I just added a book with "haiku" in text, so that won't be a problem:)

Perfect!

message 612: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments I just did some really convoluted moving around. I moved Christine's pink book to the heart spot, Sarah's Brownies book to the baked goods spot, Diana's newspaper book to the baked goods, my lawyer book to the newspaper spot, all so I could fit in the one I just finished. :)

message 613: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 241 comments Finished The Martian

message 614: by Cinthia (last edited Apr 22, 2018 06:13AM) (new)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 308 comments Finished Coast. I found a book with a mirror on the cover that I might be able to add at the end for something breakable on the cover.

message 615: by Christine (new)

Christine | 64 comments I added The Almost Sisters by Joshilyn Jackson to the spreadsheet.

message 616: by Cinthia (new)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 308 comments Christine wrote: "I added The Almost Sisters by Joshilyn Jackson to the spreadsheet."

Christine, would this work for Humor on the mini challenge? If so, I can remove the one I have planned for that and read the one with the breakable item on the cover instead. If not, do you think it would fit anywhere? You can give us the numbers and we can figure out if moving things around would help.

message 617: by Cinthia (new)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 308 comments Cinthia wrote: "Christine wrote: "I added The Almost Sisters by Joshilyn Jackson to the spreadsheet."

Nevermind on the humor part, I had only read the description, but it's not officially listed in the humor genre.

I was hoping it would work for #18 - siblings that reconnect. Leia and Rachel turned out to be stepsisters, and I don't really consider them "reconnecting." They weren't close but they weren't estranged either, so I don't think it would work.

message 619: by Christine (new)

Christine | 64 comments I also added The Tidewater Sisters. I was hoping it would work for #18 but it will not.

message 620: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Christine, if you tell us any tasks something works for, we can figure out how to move things around. I’ve moved as many as 4 books around to fit in 1 new book! :)

Laura | 2892 comments Cinthia wrote: "Cinthia wrote: "Christine wrote: "I added The Almost Sisters by Joshilyn Jackson to the spreadsheet."

Cinthia, my book for #40, Newspaper or Book on cover, also works for humor MPG. So if anyone has something for that, we can move it to humor and save you reading the other book. Or, if anyone has a baked good on the cover, we can move a few around to take out your humor book. :)

ETA: There is a book on our Black cover book, so if someone has a black cover, we can do some switching there, too.

message 622: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Also, any book of mine that's on the spreadsheet for the mini, if it doesn't have a read date yet, feel free to replace it if that's the only spot something can be worked in. Just post here so I can adjust my reading. :)

message 623: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments One more thing. Don't forget the 4 bonus book spots! Those books can be read before the others are all finished, but if we don't finish all of the others they won't count. Basically, if a book can fit into 2 spots in the mini-challenge, it can be used as a bonus book. :)

message 624: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments What do you guys think: The Yellow Fairy Book by Andrew Lang ? Does that cup look breakable?

message 625: by Cinthia (new)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 308 comments Laura wrote: "What do you guys think: The Yellow Fairy Book by Andrew Lang? Does that cup look breakable?"

I can't tell about the cup... Do you have the physical book? Is it easier to tell from there? I think I'll be able to fit the one with the breakable cover even if I read the humor book. I'm making good progress with the other ones.

Also, I think there are already some books that were not listed on the mini but that might be able to go for the extra bonus. We should write them there so we don't forget.

message 626: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments No, not a physical copy.

I think the only ones not yet used are The Yellow Fairy Book and The Tidewater Sisters. I put Christine’s other in for task 1, since Eni hasn’t finished Redwall yet. Redwall can go in the bonus spots.

I just realized there is a glass vase on a cover I need to read this week. So that gives you a breather.

And, I just realized that I should check Uno Pixie’s shelf to see if she’s read anything that works for these spots!

message 627: by Laura (last edited Apr 23, 2018 08:27PM) (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Many thanks to the wonderful Kristel who searched Uno Pixie's shelf and found a book with a space craft on the cover and a MPG of music!

So we're looking for the letters of SKY in title, natural disaster, and something breakable on cover.

message 628: by Cinthia (new)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 308 comments Finished Until I Die

Here are some books with SKY in the title: "The Sky is Everywhere", "Under the Never Sky", and "Let the Sky Fall". I wont be able to read any of them, but thought I'd list them here if someone else can.

Laura, Pixie's books weren't listed in the mini challenge spreadsheet yet. And is there still one more from her shelf that we can add?

message 629: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Yes we can add another one.

It doesn’t have to be the word sky, just the letters S, K, and Y.

message 630: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments It looks like I found a book with a hurricane in it for the natural disaster task. Sweet Caroline. I will do my best to get to it before the end of the month!

Just in case, I've got a few other suggestions if anyone is interested: Sandry's Book (Circle of Magic, #1) by Tamora Pierce has an earthquake. It's an easy read, by an incredibly wonderful fantasy author.
A Wedding to Remember in Charleston, South Carolina by Annalisa Daughety has a hurricane.

message 631: by Cinthia (new)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 308 comments Laura, if I'm doing the one with a breakable item on the cover, would that allow you to read the natural disaster one?

message 632: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Cinthia wrote: "Laura, if I'm doing the one with a breakable item on the cover, would that allow you to read the natural disaster one?"

I need to read Heaven is Here for another challenge. But I should be able to get everything done. That's 5 for this week for me.

message 633: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Cinthia wrote: "Laura, if I'm doing the one with a breakable item on the cover, would that allow you to read the natural disaster one?"

We can always use one of ours for the bonus book. :)

message 634: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Diana is reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which does have the letters of SKY in the title. So if someone has a replacement alien book we could switch those out.

message 635: by Laura (last edited Apr 25, 2018 04:35PM) (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Here's what we've got left to read. If you won't be able to finish something, please let us know!

Diana - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The yellow birds, And then there were none
Good for 2 - And Then There Were None & 1 other

Kristel - The Loneliest Girl in the Universe, The Hidden Oracle, Our Dark Duet

Sarah - A Tale of Two Cities

✔ Nicole - The Queen of Blood

✔ Eni - Immortal in Death

✔ Cinthia - Furiously Happy: a funny book about horrible things, If I should die

Something Breakable on cover - Cinthia/Laura

message 636: by Eni (new)

Eni | 169 comments ugg.. i dont know whats wrong.. everytime i think about reading redwall i just loose the will to read.... Thankfully we dont need it anymore. Great job gals. Ill start Immortal in Death and should be done tomorrow or next day.

I need a book with a mouse on the cover for another challenge (hence the redwall).. *sigh*

message 637: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments I don't know if I'll be able to finish those three. Turns out I'm heading to Madrid on Friday, and this was told me today.
I'm almost done with And then there were none and I really liked the few pages I read from The yellow birds.
But then there's The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, which should be easy to read! I don't know what to do. Between these last two, which one would be easier to fill in if I drop it?

message 638: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Btw, Megan usually passes by and adds a lot of books at once. Did anyone try to talk to her to find out what is she reading?

message 639: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments She has books on her shelf, but I don’t know where they’ll fit for the mini. Hopefully we can use them for the bonus books, since those should be easy to fit in.

I’m not sure which is easier to fill. Anybody have anything for:

1. Aliens. OR
2. Letters WORK in author’s name

message 640: by Eni (new)

Eni | 169 comments if anyone can finish it faster go ahead, if not, i can read The Dangerous Days of Daniel X. It´s supposed to be an easy read and in the description says the mc is an Alien Hunter.

message 641: by Megan (new)

Megan (celtic_girl) | 157 comments Books I've finished:
I've Got My Eyes on You by Mary Higgins Clark
4/14-4/18
22. with 3 E's in the title

Tribal Affairs by Matt Dallmann
4/15-4/19
Not sure if this works for anything

Better With You (A Change in Plans Book 2) by Rachel John
4/19-4/19
23. where all the letters in YURI can be found in the title

Bachelor Remedy (Seasons of Alaska #5) by Carol Ross
4/19-4/20
31. with a predominant sky on the cover

A January Bride (A Year of Weddings, #2) by Deborah Raney
4/20-4/20
39. where the MC is a writer

The Legacy of Merlin (Charmed, #8) by Eloise Flood
4/23-4/24
Not sure if this works for anything

I'm nearly finished with Orpheum (Orpheum, #1) by D.S. Murphy which might work for 34. with something breakable on the cover (violins can be breakable).

I'm planning on reading Doctor Who The Taking of Chelsea 426 by David Llewellyn , which works for aliens but if someone else finishes a book first that works that's fine. :)

message 643: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Thanks, Megan!

message 645: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Just realized my breakable object book has a book on the cover. With some shuffling that would free up a book to take the humor spot, Cinthia. If you need to. :)

message 646: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 241 comments Completed The Queen of Blood

message 647: by Cinthia (new)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 308 comments Laura wrote: "Just realized my breakable object book has a book on the cover. With some shuffling that would free up a book to take the humor spot, Cinthia. If you need to. :)"

I'm currently reading the funny book, so no need to shuffle things around to accommodate it, but if your breakable cover one fits somewhere else I can still read the one I was thinking about. I should be able to do one more after the funny book. What do we still need?

Oh, and I finished If I Should Die

My breakable can be used as a bonus book, but first I'm going to see if I can get Megan's books to fit those spots, first. Then I see where we're at and let you know what we still need.

I'm going to send Jessica a PM. Because if she can't finish the same cover book and we don't adjust, we're sunk! :)

ETA: Going to send Sarah a PM as well. She picked a long, heavy book!
