Bad boy Kaidan Rowe has never wanted for anything—money, popularity, musical talent…hot girls—but seducing them is part of his duty as a Nephilim, slave to the demon Dukes. As the son of the Duke of Lust, Kaidan has learned his father’s ways, becoming a master of passion, a manipulator of chemistry. Disobeying his father would mean certain death. Thankfully for Kaidan, he’s good at his job. And he enjoys it.

Until he meets Anna Whitt—smart, feisty, and inexplicably good—the one girl seemingly immune to his charms. The daughter of a guardian angel and a fallen one, she makes him wish for more than he could ever deserve.

Determined to save all the Neph from their dark lives, Anna joins forces with Kaidan to overcome the Dukes’ oppressive ways. In the light of her affections, Kaidan must undergo his toughest test of all, a battle of the heart.

Sensual and swoonworthy, this companion volume to the Sweet Evil series, told from the perspective of the mysterious Kaidan Rowe, gives readers revealing insights into the true emotions that drive him.

My boy is getting his story, and it's a hot mess. Emphasis on HOTT.

This book is more mature than the original trilogy, as far as harsher language and more sensuality and details. It's for an upper YA age range and the crossover adult crowd. Being in Kai's head is NOT like being in Anna's.

I am thankful to Kaidan for keeping me company and taking over my mind during a crazy time when I might have otherwise gone mad. I love him even more after this journey, though his story definitely isn't always pretty or sexy.

FYI, this book is the entire trilogy told from Kaidan's pov. Obviously I could not include everything, and there was a good bit of "telling" necessary. It's a mix of Kaidan's stream of consciousness and action, present tense. It begins just before he meets Anna, so we get a look at what his life was like before, and it ends at the same point as Sweet Reckoning (book 3). I am so thrilled to share his thoughts and feelings on the whole journey. I hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. <3

"You bring out everything in me, little Ann. All of it."

4 Sexy Kaidan Rowe Stars!

(Buddyreading this book with my sissy Avy)

Reading this book was reminiscing everything in Sweet series and bringing back the feels! I am not really fond of reading a book that rehashes the entire series using the voice of the male mc but this one was an exception because, *sigh It's KAIDAN ROWE'S POV and why not?

I knew Kaidan was sexy in Sweet Evil, Sweet Peril, and Sweet Reckoning but I think he's way sexier here. Lots of naughty things were running inside his head and I can't help but blush. LOL. I think I even loved him better here because I was able to really see through his thoughts and his emotions and the way he regarded Anna. Right in the feels!

"Anna has ruined me with a craving for something far more substantial. She possesses the only thing that can fill the deep void within me, and nothing else comes close."

Anna and Kaidan have always been one of my favorite OTP's that's why it was kind of difficult for me to read this book without missing this couple so bad! But I'm really glad because I already forgot lots of scenes in the series and I'm happy to rewind all of those, especially those scenes I consider my favorites. All in all, it was a worthy somewhat-reread of the entire series. Kaidan Rowe is truly worth it all!

"I can't simply have a tiny slice of Anna. I'm no masochist. It has to be all or nothing."

I. Sigh. For. Kai.

Thank goodness for the 4th book of the Sweet trilogy series! MORE KAIDAN ROWE! MORE SEXY, SWOON-WORTHY MOMENTS! I can't keep calm for this. I'm fangirling too much and I can't help it!

description

How can I not resist this book? This is told in Kaidan Rowe's perspective in the first three books of the Sweet series and … oh my GOD. I just fell in love again. Kaidan's thougts are just oh-my-scorching-hot-jalapeño. Absolutely sexy, edgy and more mature . It's nice to see those moments which are not present in the first three books and I think Ms. Higgins did an amazing job on writing this because it didn't dragged on nor it's rushed. It's a perfect last hurrah to me. I just love this bad boy to bits.

I just love this book. I will never forget this series and I'm gonna miss it. Definitely one of my favorites this year.

Wait a minute. You mean to tell me that after all this, the author is having the story retold.. by him?!!

SEX ON LEGS? LORD OF THE COLD SHOWERS? THE WALKING STRIPPERGRAM? MAGIC MIKE COME TO LIFE? THE POOR MAN'S CHRISTIAN GREY? LEADER OF THE GROWN UP, NAUGHTY VERSION OF THE LITTLE RASCALS?

AND SHE'S TELLING THE WHOLE GODDAMN STORY ALL OVER AGAIN?!!!

Thanks, but no thanks. Because knowing how Mr. Sex on Legs works, this story is going to be a hot mess. Emphasis on the mess.

Wendy Higgins has released a teaser!

I jump from the couch and lunge at Anna, grasping her shoulders hard and pressing my ear to her cheek. I whisper as softly as I can. “My father is here.”
She stiffens under my hand. Yes, she knows what we are, therefore she knows Father is a demon. Be afraid, Anna.
I pull her to the couch and fling her down. Thank God for shirts with buttons. I rip it open, needing this scene to appear realistic. When she sucks in a shocked breath I press a finger to her lips. Her aura is a swirl of gray tones, both fear and embarrassment. This is not the time for modesty. I can’t have her appearing terrified if we’re supposed to be making out. So I toss a throw blanket at her and rip my own shirt over my head. I point to her shirt and she starts rolling her shoulders to get it off.
God, she is sexy. Even in that innocent white satin bra. Let’s hope I haven’t been a fool, and she doesn’t shove a dagger in my spine as I lower my body over hers and taste the skin at the base of her throat. I move upward to the curve of her neck and shoulder, and let out a low moan. Our skin touches and she moves underneath me in a sultry way, grasping the nearby pillows in her fists. I suddenly want all her clothes off.
The sound of Father coming down the stairs erases that thought from my mind. He knows by now I’m with a girl, but he has no notion of privacy.
When the door opens, Anna’s body jumps under me and she lets out a bleedin’ squeak. I turn my head to the door where Father stands, smiling, inching further to the side to get a better look at Anna. Damn. I can’t hide her any further without being obvious.
“My apologies, son. I didn’t realize you had company.” He is still moving casually across the room, staring.
Before I can say a word, the politeness slips from his features and his eyes flash red. I look down at Anna, who has foolishly backed away from me and allowed the blanket to fall enough to give Father a side view of her badge. I hold my breath. They definitely do not seem to know each other.
“I never imagined you’d care to entertain female Nephilim,” he grits.
Not good. Not fucking good. Neph can work together, but they are not to play together. Especially in the one-on-one way.
“I don’t normally.” I stand and move away, as if coming to my senses. “She caught me while I was bored and alone after practice.”
His face sours as he scents the air. “You will come up for tea. Both of you.” He leaves, and I ball my hands. Close my eyes. I want to punch something.
Anna is my problem. My mystery. I don’t want to share her with anyone, especially not the wolf upstairs. It’s clear now they weren’t working together. The blood has drained from Anna’s face as she clutches the blanket to her chest. I simultaneously feel sorry for her and want to shout at her that she’s a stupid, stupid girl for coming here.

The world that is depicted here is very black and white, it is based in very basic concepts that generalize the way things are.

I have come to have a big problem with all the christianity based ideas that form this “fantasy” world. I found these ideas really offensive and it bothers me that they can reach so many young influential minds through these books.

An example of this would be that Anna needs to preserve her virginity until marriage in order to keep her heart pure Well, this is truly morally repugnant, the idea that having sex outside marriage would make your heart impure is plane wrong.

Another example is that every time the books talk about lust, it is done from a heterocentrism perspective. Since we are in the 21st century, the supposition that heteronormativity would be the normalcy is backwards and discriminatory and personally I can’t abide by it, no matter wether the books are fantasy or not.

The ideas that the story is funded on have put me off this series, and although I did find the books entertaining, I would not recommend this series.

Well, excuse me while I'm sighing for Kai, riding my post end-of-series depression (again) and listening to Kai's playlist. *dreams*

Also, I may or may not be more than slightly morose.

This journey with my beloved Kaidan Rowe was bittersweet. It was amazing and beautiful, but also heartbreaking.

This constant throbbing ache in my heart never left me until almost the end, when Kai broke free from the chains of his terrible past and all the fear that kept him prisoner and finally accepted he couldn't live without Anna, that he wanted that future with her and that he deserved all of it.

So sad everything he went through, from the time with his devil of a father, to the empty, desolate life working as a Nephilim, to the incredible love he felt he had to bury for the good of everyone, to the even emptier life, away from his heart's desire.

I'm so, so glad Anna didn't give up on him and that he finally held on to her. That epilogue? Sweetest thing ever!

Now I know he is free and happy. What else could we ask for?

So, thank you, Wendy! For giving him that happiness and for giving us access to his innermost thoughts and feelings.

P.S. Can I just say I loved the lyrics of the songs in the beginning of each chapter? Great idea, considering Kai's a drummer and lover of music. Also, those songs fit him like a glove. Amazing!

Note #1: I do not recommend reading this book before or if you haven’t read The Sweet trilogy. Not only you will not get a full view of the books but it’ll spoil you big time.

I was meaning to read this book since it came out back in September and now I finally did and it was good and I probably over rated it because it wasn’t really that good in my opinion.

My main struggle with the book it wasn’t the content by itself but rather the way it was delivered. I’m fan of the Sweet trilogy, it’s one of my favorite trilogies and it’s sad it’s not that known.

description

Alright, so Sweet Temptation offers a look into Kaidan’s head before he meets Anna and through all three books and like I said my main issue was with the delivery. While I was reading the book, I couldn’t stop thinking “wow, this is what a fanfiction would’ve been” and I get why Wendy kept it short but it wasn’t enough.

I like that Wendy wasn’t greedy and tried to release every single book from Kaidan’s POV but ST felt short. Why? Simply because I couldn’t feel anything while reading it. The chapters were too short and I wasn’t fan of combining all three books in one because if I didn’t get to feel what was going on during those glimpses of book one, how could I feel and invest myself in book two? You know what I mean? It wasn’t well executed and it didn’t know the character development that the whole trilogy managed to do and therefore I didn’t sympathize with Kaidan the way I did in the past.

description

It wasn’t all bad, you know? I truly loved and appreciated learning a bit more about Marna, Ginger, Blake and Kopano and through Kai’s eyes I could see things differently and details and I missed the first time I read the books and I could fall in love with Anna all over again. She’s my favorite character in the whole trilogy and she’s just such a good character. You know how I always struggle with those honest-to-god good characters? Well, Anna’s genuinely a pure of heart girl and I have no problems with her. She gets things done and she’s braver than anyone else. She’s just amazing and it’s because of her, my love for Wendy and her work and the rest of the characters that I’m rated it this high when I’m not happy with the book.

You know what would’ve been great? Instead of giving us all sort of three books in Kai’s POV, Wendy could’ve given us a whole book about them raising their kids and meetings with the other Neph and doing whatever they’re doing now and Ginger coping with Marna’s death and visiting Jay and the baby…. I mean, that would’ve been so much better in my opinion. Or maybe some straight after the fight chapters? I would’ve loved to read how the Neph took their new lives and what they did with them and I could go on and on and on but yeah. Even though this wasn’t what I was expecting, I still enjoyed my reading.

description

Note #2: Like I expressed before, I kinda realized something. Kaidan said he could only feel lust when someone felt it first, so, my question is: if a guy would’ve (and I’m sure it happened) felt lust towards Kaidan, does that mean he had to act on it? If the twins had to break up a marriage, could they have targeted the wife? What if it was a gay couple? I kept wondering about it because Blake joked about Kaidan being bisexual and I got curious. They work with sins and sins are not exclusive. I’m not trying to open a debate or anything (although if you want, we can totally discuss it) but now that I’ve thought about it, I can’t go back and I think that wasn’t explained in the books. So, if you’re reading this, Wendy, care to explain? (:

Oh, and I absolutely loved those piece of lyrics at the begining of the chapters! Damn, Wendy, kudos for your taste in music.

*glass case of emotion*

If this book were a cupcake, it would be a Dark Chocolate Cupcake. It's tall, dark, and sinfully delicious, just like Kaidan Rowe. It'll satisfy that chocolate craving without jeopardizing your waistline--everyone knows dark chocolate is the healthy chocolate---and leave you coming back for more.

I LUV'D being in Kai's head and getting the chance to see the whole series from his point of view, LUVED IT!

The odds are stacked against him from the start. Sure, he makes his fair share of mistakes. Who doesn't? But after meeting Anna, Kai sees that good really does exist, it can triumph over evil and hope is not lost. The most important lesson he learns though, is love really can transform you.

If you let it.

That epilogue though...I cried when I read it from Anna's POV in Sweet Reckoning, but seeing it from Kai's destroyed my feels in the best way possible.

My God I love it, I thought it will be boring cause it's basically what happened in the other three books but damn was I wrong.

The book was more of a retelling and Kaidan's POV is as great as that of Anna and it filled all the blank spaces when they were apart. Wendy once again whelmed me.

OMG, this book was a fantastic surprise!

5 Kaidan-loving stars

I loved the Sweet series, and fell in mad love with epic bad boy hottie, Kaidan Rowe, so to get this companion novel which covers the events of all three of the original books from this POV – cue the epic fangirl squealing.

Sweet Evil, Sweet Peril and Sweet Reckoning tell the story of a group of Nephilim – children of angels and humans… although in this case, the angels in question are all fallen angels, and so essentially the Neph are the offspring of demons and humans, each with a specific sin that it is their job to encourage and promote amongst humans. When sweet and innocent Anna Whitt is revealed to be a Neph, she becomes a part of their world and events are set into motion that will change things forever.

The set up for the series is original and interesting and though I loved the story when it was told from Anna’s perspective, it’s something very different from Kaidan’s POV. Kaidan is the son of the Duke of Lust, so you know where his talents (and most of his thoughts) lie, and with the story told in his sarcastic voice, it’s darker, dirter and hotter than the previous books, with an edginess and laugh-out-loud humour that was missing from the original story. And the forbidden love story between Kaidan and Anna is possibly even more painful and angsty when you see all that he went through and everything that he was feeling, but it’s SO freaking good!

If I wanted. She’d no clue how much I wanted. But I couldn’t have just a tiny slice of Anna. I was no masochist. It would have to be all or nothing, and “all” would ensure the death of us both.

This book will mean nothing to you if you haven’t read the originals. Key scenes are retold in Kaidan’s POV, and there is a whole lot of content we haven’t seen before featuring Kaidan on his own (with his father, his friends, and while he was 'working'). Because it’s such a condensed version of events, there is no way it can cover the depth or detail of the original books so there are also whole chunks of the story that are glossed over. But as a companion novel it’s perfectly paced, it shows exactly what I wanted it to show, and I was completely hooked from start to finish.

If you loved the original trilogy, and you’re a Kaidan fan (and really, who isn’t?), then you will love this one!

5 stars.

Note - I listened to this as an audiobook, and Christian Coulson does a sensational job! Not only does he capture Kaidan’s personality brilliantly, but that accent! Hot English boy, I could have listened to that voice forever. Highly recommended!

2,5 stars

Yes, you've seen right. I've just given 2,5 stars to Kai's book.

Book 1
Book 2
Book 3

What I remember about this series...even though it's been a while...

-How much I hate Kopano as love interest.

-Limited plot & nothing is truly explored and expanded

-Kai is a sexy bastard.

-Anna is one of the biggest Mary Sues. She's too fucking perfect.

-Cant fucking understand how these guys won cause they had no real or solid plan to win the war. They just got lucky.

-Great romance, strong friendship but no world building

-That fucking and retarted pregnancy plot (STILL NOT BUYING THAT SHIT)

The Moral of the trilogy;

Praying saves lives, kids. When in trouble just pry to save the day

Overall feeling for the series;

Overall feeling for this book;

FINALLY IT’S FINISHED.

For a minute here and there I thought I’d never be able to finish this book. Damn. WAS I BORED.

Now, dont get me wrong. It was what it was – a compananion. Nothing more, nothing less. I know I’m probably being harsh considering I thought the trilogy was ‘ok’ and yet enjoyed the books a lot…but that itself made me a bit salty about how this book turned out. I was excited to read this book you see, because I’m a big fan of Kai and couldnt wait to see how his pov turned out. I liked him so much during Anna’s pov, however when the spotlight was on him it felt so….MEH?

I can see millions and millions of Kai fans freezing...

‘Bu-bu-but How can Kai ever be meh?’ you asking?

HE IS NOT.

He is sexy and cool as always but his pov is just…weak.

I dont know why exactly, maybe because I stopped caring about this series, maybe I was still pissed at some things (what happens to Marla etc.) but this was me during the book:

Maybe I felt this way because this book came too late but I’m so sick of these random books that love interests are getting. Why the hell I need a whole new book that re-tells the whole events of a whole book or the whole trilogy from love interest's perspective to understand he wasnt a huge jerk even though he was written as one? (Not that Kai is a jerk). Just show me he isnt one from the main character’s perspective, damn it. Good writers are capable of that. BUT NOOO. Instead we are getting novella after novella, short story after short story, random 4th books after a trilogy ended.

WHY NOT RIGHT? (Insert sarcasm here.)

NO. Just NO. Just because I want something as a fan doesnt mean I should get that. Fans dont know what they want sometimes dear, Wendy Higgins. If I knew what was I getting I'd have never read this book.

So why I did read this book? One word: KAI. And I got Kai. A lot. However, I also realized Kai works as a secondary character better. At least in some novellas or these kind of books the hero of the story has a 'story'. He doest just stand here and lust after the heroine. Kai, on the other hand, does nothing but that. It's always Anna this Anna that. Even though I buy the 'romance' aspect of the series (most of the time), I cant buy Kai did nothing productive the time he wasnt around Anna (which is most of the book). Seriously, does he have a life? Where the hell all the bro-romance from the earlier novels go? I wanted to see Kai with his father and his friend more but instead he keeps thinking about Anna the whole day.

Plus, unfortunately this book made me realize a horrible thing: Kai, my friends, is one of the most useless characters in this story. He does nothing for the plot (not that there is a proper one). This book was filled with his so many shortcomings. The moment he became a protagonist instead of a love interest all the was swoon worthy charmed just...went away.

I also didnt like how Kai was just geared up for sex the entire time. There were times he showed how nervous and excited he truly was because of Anna but I just stopped caring about the character (s) so I didnt care about those tiny moments either.

WOW!!!! This book was incredibly amazing/ wonderful/ awesome/ whatever other great adjective you can think of, that was this book!!! You've all probably guessed by now that I'm a BIG Kaidan Rowe fan, so this book was perfect. If you're like me and #sighforkai you really need to read this book when it comes out in September!!

If you didn't already know this book is a condensed version of all the Sweet books but retold from Kai's POV. So, it's not every little thing from the other books but Wendy Higgins did a fabulous job with condensing each book into Sweet Temptation! If you didn't already know, but you probably do, Wendy Higgins is amazing!;-D

I'm not going to say anything else about the book;-) ya'll have to wait and read for yourselves. Trust me Kai is worth waiting for!;-)

Reading Kai’s POV was a great way to relive the series. I actually am so glad I ended up reading it because I was torn on reading it because of obviously knowing how it plays out. This companion novel actually kept me entertained and added to the series honestly.

My quick and simple overall: great way to reread the series in a short period of time. Highly entertaining!

You would think writing an entire trilogy in one book from a different character's POV would be difficult, but Wendy Higgins does it seamlessly! We still get all the important aspects of the main story but from Kai's perspective and it really feels like it's own book.

I love how Kai has loved Anna since the beginning and has only pushed her away for her own safety.

Definitely a book worthy of being a part of the Sweet trilogy!

Jinak miluju autory, kteří něco napíšou, a pak to přepíšou z pohledu jiný postavy. Za chvilku se to bude psát z pohledu podlahy.

***Waring: Contains spoilers from the first three books***

Let me start by saying that I don't always enjoy re-tellings from a different POV especially when it's just the exact same story. I'm so glad that wasn't the case with this one. I just loved it.

I've wanted to know what Kai was thinking from book one. I wanted to see his colors. I wanted to know what he was thinking when he pushed her away. In my heart, I knew he loved her and I needed to understand him. I got all of that and more in Sweet Temptation.

I loved how the author balances the retailing with new things we learn about Kai, tender or emotional scenes between them with summaries of things we learned in other books. I do think someone could read this without having read the first three but they won't enjoy it as much. For me, the summaries brought back great memories and detail that I didn't need to read again but loved remembering.

The new things we learn about Kai tugged at my heart. He loved her much sooner than I realized. His actions were always to protect her... mostly from him. I loved his strength. He never gave himself enough credit but he was so strong. I loved his fierce emotions and loved finally being able to feel them with him. I loved seeing things through his eyes...his band, his father, the other neph, Anna and mostly himself. He may never believe that he deserves Anna but I do. I believe. I know him. I love him.

Those tender moments between them show up in this book. The kiss in the hotel room, the moment she gives all her money to a begger, the pinky lock before the summit meeting and the stolen kiss, the pain they put each other through in book 2, the cold water hiding, the touching and holding, and so much more. Hearing things from Kai's POV, learning how much frustration he had, how much love he had and how close he was to tears tore at me. Then book three and his determination to save her, his willingness to die for her, his desperation to help her. His joys and his fears. I thought I couldn't love him more...I was wrong. I love him more.

The writing is brilliant. The story is full and complex. The characters bring out emotions in me. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It felt like meeting a friend. It satisfied me and made me happy. It's the perfect capstone for this series.

If you've read the first three, then this one needs to be your next read. If you haven't started this series, now is the time. It's paranormal at it's best. Loved it.
