The monster mystery part of this book was good. It reminded me of the first 3 books in this series.

The poly love part was a bit much, but that is what this series has become, so I expected that. What bothers me is that the author makes people who are unaccustomed to the reverse harem seem bigoted. In the last several books, there is a character who judges Anita for loving more than one person. This character is usually the bad guy, or an inferior law enforcement officer. Either way, they are shown to be stupid or prejudice.

The author seems to hit the reader over the head with the lesson of acceptance. It's almost preachy.

However, some of the main characters are so compelling that I keep reading.
