I finished The Firefighter's Pretend Fiancée by Victoria James, Shadow Creek, Montana #5, and really liked this surprisingly serious story. Here’s my review.

I finished listening to Good Little Girls by Rita Herron, The Keepers #2, and it was a take-no-prisoners kind of story. Not for the faint hearted. Here’s my review.

I’m reading The Laird's Willful Lass by Anna Campbell, The Lairds Most Likely #1 and listening to Broken Promise by Linwood Barclay, Promise Falls #1.

I am too so far! I liked The Cuckoo's Calling but The SIlkworm is better. I think because I feel like I know the main characters a bit better now.

Nightmares of Caitlin Lockyer (Nightmares, #1) by Demelza Carlton Nightmares of Caitlin Lockyer by Demelza Carlton on Kindle
Nathans sister was brutally murdered and now Nathan is out for revenge. Walking along the beach late at night he comes across a women's body laying in the sand where his sister was also found. Caitlin was left for dead after being raped and tortured. Nathan is determined to keep her safe and not let the bastards win. This is the first I have read by this author and as disturbing, raw, deep, dark and emotional as it was from the start, it kept me on my seat. I was pulled in from the beginning. It had so many twists and turns, I didn't want to put it down. So many questions throughout the whole book and still unresolved which makes me so anxious to read the second in the series. Not a book for the faint of heart, but if you want a great suspenseful mystery that will unnerve you...this is it. I loved this book and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. 5++++++ stars

A Christmas Star by Judith Keim A Christmas Star by Judith Keim as an ARC
Noelle North's rich ex-fiance left her at the altar on Christmas and ran off with his best friends wife two years ago. She just can't bare to stay in Boston over the holidays and wants no part in celebrating them, so her dear friends at the Assisted Living center where she works at, persuades her to rent a place in Florida for a much needed vacation. She finds out just how much she needs it and love the little Seashell cottage. Taking one of her walks along the beach, she meets a wonderful young seven year old boy Silas, who warms everyone's heart in this book. They go up to his great-grandmothers Althea's house and Noelle discovers that the older woman is being abused by the caretaker there. Noelle goes ballistic and throws the woman out finding herself the new caregiver of Silas and Althea. Althea's grandsons are taking over the business running plush hotels while their parents are missing in the Rocky mountains after a plane crash. Jake Bellingham has enough of his plate and doesn't need this "bossy" woman taking over his household and his life. This book was so sweet, loving, romantic and emotional. the characters were strong and believable and well developed. It made me laugh, cry and feel good all at once. With many plots going on in this story, the author kept it all together and flowing so wonderfully. I will certainly enjoy reading more books from this author. 5 stars

Courting a Spinster for Christmas Sweet and Clean Regency Romance (His Majesty's Hounds Book 16) by Arietta Richmond Courting a Spinster for Christmas: Sweet and Clean Regency Romance by Arietta Richmond on Kindle ARC
A lovely read. A very tender, clean and romantic book. I enjoyed the history of this family that was brought into it. My first book with this author and I enjoyed it very much. The only thing I thought could have been different is that it was a bit too drawn out. I really felt it could have been condensed some and still be a fantastic book.

Love For A Reluctant Highland Lass (Blood of Duncliffe Series) (A Medieval Scottish Romance Story) by Emilia Ferguson Love For A Reluctant Highland Lass (Blood of Duncliffe Series)Starting an ARC by Emilia Ferguson on Kindle, "Love For a Reluctant Highland Lass
The story behind a maid servant, Ellie Lemont, who has always been thrown away it seems and has never truly been cared about or loved is thrown in suddenly as the Lady of Duncliffe when someone is coming to speak to the Lady regarding land. Lady Marguerite thinks it is her estranged relative who could endanger her. Unbeknownst to them, Garrick Hale is just the messenger. Finished "Starting Over" by Laura Scott in a PDF form. A novella that only she posts to those who are subscribed to her newsletter.
A clean, inspirational romance who with the help of her faith, the main character has been physically, emotionally healing after her late drunkard, abusive late husband tried to run her over, and also her son is in prison from following in his fathers foot steps. She decided to go back home, only to find someone does not want her back. By leaving messages painted on her front door, a rock through the windshield of her car, and a patio door smashed with a brick, he calls on the police. Where she meets the deputy who has a lot of fear and baggage of his own. This is a beautiful story of healing, love, and forgiveness. 5 stars

A Reason to Remember by Leigh Duncan A Reason to Remember By Leigh Duncan in PDF form
Margo and David were getting a divorce. All that was left was to sign the separation papers. Until an accident gives David temporary amnesia. Margo wonders if this is a chance to have him remember how their marriage once was and how in love they once were and before David's ambition took over his life and took him away from her and their children. This second chance short story was filled with so much inspiration, love and emotions. The ending blew me away. I read this in 24 hours. I just couldn't put it down. It made me think how precious spending time with friends and love ones is. I would definitely recommend this book. I am so looking forward to reading more of her books. 5 stars

Forgotten & Remembered The Duke's Late Wife (Love's Second Chance, #1) by Bree Wolf Forgotten & Remembered: The Duke's Late Wife by Bree Wolf in PDF form
Graham lives in isolation following the death of his wife. He needs a new mother to raise his six year old daughter. His best friend Edmond takes him to a house party were Graham see's a young woman playing joyfully with her nieces. Rosabel was taken in by her aunt and uncle only by obligation after her father dies and she was left alone. They always remind her how her mother shamed the family marrying someone out of their class. Her uncle is too willing to give her to Graham as a wife. Graham is NOT interested in the marriage aspects of this arrangement and shortly after the wedding ships her off to his other estate to care for his daughter. This story was so sad throughout the book. Graham is self-centered and constantly feels sorry for himself and I felt cruel to his daughter and Rosabel. I just couldn't like him. The book was too drawn out for me and could have been cut in half and still have a decent story line. I got bored with all the melodrama of Graham and his late wife and the redundancy of thoughts and dialogue. After all his bellyaching, a light finally comes on. I did enjoy many of the other characters though. I feel I am being generous with 3 stars

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn in paperback
Her books never seem to amaze me. The characters in this book are so strong and well defined and very scary. It is a very deep, dark, emotional and at times very disturbing. The sickness and mental illness that has been passed down through generations that causes illness and murder. The darker side of life for a wealthy family. I just love her stories. Brings out the darker sides of us that we wish to keep hidden by goodness. Hope they bring this small series to Netflix in the future. EXCELLENT!! 5 stars
