Jenny works hard in her families bakery and is very well know for her wonderful pastries. She is not of nobility but her dream is to work in a notable house as a pastry chef. Thomas Haddington, the Duke of Pemberton is expected to marry his friend of many years, Helena. But she is in love with George, Thomas' best friend. They have to hide their romance as Helena's father is dead set of the Duke and his daughters marriage. Thomas' uncle was his guardian for many years and now that Thomas is taking his rightly position as Duke has now discovered that he has brought not only his mothers but the whole estate close to financial ruin. Thomas and Jenny meet on a rainy day and it becomes and clouds and sunshine for them in the days to come. This was a very sweet, interesting, suspenseful story. The love of family, the choosing of hearts over honor and forgiveness. I am very much looking forward to reading more of her work. 5 stars

Wonderful, but too short, romance.

A wonderful start to the series. Molly O'Hurley gave birth to three triplets. Girls. The first book focuses mostly on Abby who is now a widow of a famous race car driver and raising two boys on her ranch. Her marriage was less than ideal and she is left trying to make this a working ranch and providing for all of them on next to nothing. Journalist Dylan Crosby is known to be a hard nose investigative reporter who wants the real story of her late husband. He knows when people are not being up front and has his ways of getting the information he wants. Abby is strong and will do her best to give him only what she wants in the book. Abby and the boys have a way of wearing down his heart. I really enjoyed this story and all the characters. But I felt left hanging in their story. Too many unanswered questions and information. I hope the other books will answer some of these for me. 3 stars
I finished listening to Too Close to Breathe by Olivia Kiernan, Frankie Sheehan #1, a solid British police procedural. Here’s my review.

Bette Wharton is a detail orientated, always by the schedule type of person. She looks to the future and knows what she wants. And she doesn't want anyone or anything to stand in her way. Paul Monroe is a child at heart and only lives in the moment, and it usually is something fun and unexpected. He doesn't want anyone or anything running his life. Paul needs a temporary assistant and Bette's company comes highly rated. As soon as Paul meets the boss, Bette, it seems to be his mission to get this straight laced lady to loosen up. It's a back and forth romance where both are afraid to give up their hearts. I thought the story line was very good, but I felt the steamy scenes were way over done and just too much and too often. I didn't care for the character of Paul. I just never could picture him as a professional adult. He might have been a kid at heart, but I found him very immature. That really took away from the story for me. 3 stars

Best one so far

Second book in the O'Hurley series. Maddy is one of the triplets and her passion is dancing and has made a name for herself on stage and Broadway. Reed Valentine has taken over his fathers business and is the CEO of Valentine's Records were they are the shows financial backer. They literally bump into each other and from there on their relationship, (personal and professional) is steamy and bumpy. The characters are fun and vivid and believable. It's a great sexy, romantic, entertaining book. It's a story about love, family and compromises to have demanding schedules and how you get over the hurdles of them all. So far, wonderful series. 5 stars

Book 3 in the O'Hurley Family Saga series. Chantel O'Hurley has it all. Fame, fortune, beauty and style. She is one of the three triplet sisters. Now she finds herself dealing with an over enthusiastic fan who is becoming scary. Finally realizing that this person is not going to become bored and leave her alone, she goes to her friend Matt who assigns a private investigator, Quinn Doran to find the guy and put him away. Chantel and Quinn are like oil and water. He first see's Chantel as a spoiled celebrity and she finds him raw, harsh and rude. Two very strong characters trying to do their jobs and trying to fight the burning desire they have found for each other. I enjoyed the steamy romance and the suspense. I like how author brings in the family once again from each book. I thought I knew who the "who dunnit" was, but I was very surprised at the ending. 5 stars

4th book in the series and a great ending to it. Trace O'Hurley wants to retire now from his dangerous life of intrigue and secrets. He walked away from his family years ago and now wants to just go and find an island, woman and booze. Dr. Gillian Fitzpatrick has been given Trace's name to help find her brother and niece that were kidnapped by a terrorist for a secret formula .Gillian has the passion and Trace has the connections and fierceness to get it done. Trace only wants the money so he can retire in style. Both have totally different lifestyles, dreams and . wants. I read this book like in 2 days. I just couldn't put it down. So much romantic tension between the two characters, mystery, suspense and action. It made me laugh and cry. What a way to end the series. Absolutely fantastic! 5 stars

An exciting, VERY romantic book. Effie McDuff needs to find the Stone of Destiny to hand over to the English to save her sister. She hates the idea of betraying her country, but her family comes first. Aidan MacKeefe is the protector of the Stone, keeping Scotland's secret from the English. He uses it as a pillow and has a dream of a Scottish angel. When he meets Effie, he feels it is destiny that she is that angel. Effie falls for Aidan and hates to lie and betray him and is afraid to tell him the truth. Many twists and turns in this story that made me read it one day. As much as I enjoy steamy romance, I felt is was over done in this book. Being entangled with each other was all they seemed to think about and do. "A little less is more." That is why I gave it a lower rating. All in all, still a very fun read. 3 stars
I finished Holding On by Pamela Clare, Colorado High Country #6, and loved it! This is the best series. Here’s my review.

Written in 1983 , you've come a long way Nora. I really enjoyed the book with the circus atmosphere. I thought the characters were interesting. I enjoyed how Jo explained about the training of the cats, not taming them. I didn't care much for the character of Keanne. I thought him very arrogant and a tease to Jo. He kept playing with her emotions than walking away hurting her. No one deserves that. I felt the ending was very lame. There was no compromise in the decision and I felt it ended too fast. Would have enjoyed a bit more length and thought to it. 3 stars

The kind of Rom-Com Hollywood doesn't make anymore
My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Anushka Yankovich is the last of the three sister to marry. She is not interested in marrying the bakers son even as nice as he is. She wants to go to Texas like her other sisters and marry a cowboy.
William Turner who is now 18 feels he is ready to find a mail order bride. After discussing his situation with his foreman Linc, who is married to one of the sisters. William and Anushka start writing to each other and planning. I enjoyed learning of the other sisters and their marriages and families with the cowboys. Times are also changing in the town of Mesquite Texas and the brothers are on different sides of the rail road coming in. This was a fun story to read. Two completely different families, different backgrounds. I feel the ending was very lame. Would have enjoyed more of a build up to the end and it longer. 3 stars
**I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest review**

If you like Regency Romances you will enjoy this one. I really enjoy this authors books. The characters are very entertaining and it was a very fast read. She stayed very close to this era. This is a clean historical romance but the romance is still there. Was predictable, but getting there was fun. 5 stars

A good historic romance novel. The heroine has been mistreated by her father and late husband for years. Just coming out of her mourning, she goes to London to her strict and proper sisters. Lady Nessa Haughton is tired of a boring, tedious life and tired of wearing mourning clothes. She wants fun and adventure but has no desire to be married again and to live under stringent rules and ways. Jack Ashcroft, Marquis of Foxhaven a well known rake is trying trying to change his ways to bet his inheritance left by his grandfather. What better way than to marry a proper lady. The back and forth of their friendship is amusing and romantic. I found the characters strong and I enjoyed the entire story line. I unfortunately did not enjoy how she was constantly switching from one plot to another sub-plot that took away so much from the story. These served no purpose to the story at all. They should have been separate books in my opinion. 3 stars

Lady Pearl Moreston does not want to marry and does not like her evil step mother. Lady Pearl is a strong, independent woman who wants to do better with her inheritance to do good for all the people. She tries to run away under a disguise as a servant only to find herself with Luke St. Clair, a thief and legendary Saint of the Seven Dials. Luke despises the upper crust of society, he has no problem being one of them to stake out his next robbery. Although Lady Pearl doesn't know this immediately, she finds herself attracted to him and his free lifestyle. Luke St. Clair is more than he claims to be and is for the biggest surprise of a lifetime. I found this story fun, amusing, humorous and romantic. I enjoyed the characters and how she details all the environments around them. All around great historic romance. 4 stars

the dialogue between the two main characters was horrendous. It was always, "Oh!", "Oh really", Oh Richard", "they kissed", "feel it in my loins". No imagination on this one. I almost quit reading it, but I can't give an honest review if I don't read it all the way through.
Sorry!
I was given this book as an ARC and this is my honest review

Not my cup of tea I'm afraid. The characters were cookie cutter and flat as pancakes. LOL, I think I'm hungry ;)
