2018 Goodreads Challenge

Happy New Year! I finished 2017 with a total of 422 books read! That beats my previous record of 403 books read in 2016 big time! My goal was only 345! Even so, I think I'm just going to aim for 355 this year. That's close to a book a day, but still gives me some wiggle room so I hope I won't feel pressured. How about you? How'd you do last year? What's your goal for this year? Whatever it is, I hope you have a great 2018. Happy reading all!

I made it in just under the wire last year to a total of 100 books. Aiming for 90 this year as I can already see my reading time being eaten up more and more by my small business.

This will be my first full year on GR. My goal this year is only 40 books, since my Thesis is due this year.

I have set my goal to 90 books this year, since I struggled to reach my last year's goal of 95 (though I did it in the end).

Passed my final goal from last year, 97/90. I am starting low again this year and will increase my goal as I go along, 4/25.

I'm up to 113 books completed which puts me 26 books ahead of schedule as I aim for my goal of 355. How are you doing so far?

is there away to remove a book for some reason it counted my last book twice

It can be done, but it is a bit of a "knack."

You have to go to the book page and edit your reading record.

I think you can "x out" the time you read it that you didn't really read it, if you catch my drift.

I had to do this with a big e-book omnibus where I reached the end, just because I was reading the last few pages of a 1,000 pp. book.

It's a known bug, and some people are getting a bit frustrated that it keeps coming up every now and again.

I set for 200 again, and am currently at 95. I think raising it higher will stress me out, although I have made the goal the past few years when it's been set to that number.

I'm doing better than expected, but I think that's because I seem to be reading so many more graphic novels this year than usual. If that's still the case when we get closer to the end of the year, I think I might bump up my challenge number to cancel those graphic novels out.

In any case, I'm currently at 154 books completed out of 355 which puts me at 46 books ahead of schedule or 43% done.

I'm at 33/90 and glad I was ahead. I imagined getting so much reading done on my vacation but did hardly at all. I underestimated the level of entertainment offered by a cruise line.

I reached 24 so I upped my challenge to 50 so I'm at 29/50, 14 ahead. No doubt I'll up it again before I reach 50.

Thank you for sharing. I had to fix a couple books that were falsely showing read twice.

I was clicking around with a book I'd just started, and found I'd marked it 'read.'

Well, when I went in to change it, I found I'd nearly forgotten the 'knack.' Look for that itty-bitty 'edit' button.

38/50 Currently listening to one and reading another. Weather has been so miserable lately (rain and or humidity) you would think I'd be further along.

I'm doing better than I did other years so I'm happy. Set for 200, I usually make about 220-230. This year I just hit 150 this week, so with only 50 to go I'm thinking I may do the best yet. We'll see though!

I think I'm doing pretty good. 249 out of 355 books completed which puts me at 71 books ahead of schedule. Not bad to be at 70% done at half the year done.

So how did 2018 turn out for you? This bibliophile had a pretty good year. Not only did I achieve my goal of reading 355 books in 2018, I passed it big time, setting a new personal record by finishing the year with 426 books read! In addition, in 2018 I added 1,181 items to my personal library bringing it up to containing an inventory of 12,095 items! I don't mean to be bragging, but you have to admit that that is a pretty impressive. ;-) Here's hoping 2019 is even better than 2018 was!

I surpassed my goal at 100 books for 2018. Aiming for 90 again in 2019

I also passed my goal of 100 by reading 104. Right now I set my goal for 25. I hope to read some doorstops this year so I'll have many pages but not many books.

I passed my goal of 150 books read for 2018 and read 275 books!!
