Hey Nimah, Throne of Glass doesn't work as you know Sarah J Mass has a bunch of books and been published for a few years.
It has be an author who has One book in existence , It doesn't have be a 2018 debut. . Check out the 2018 debut list if you need some ideas and if you need help. We are always here https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

ooh... it's debut author and not debut novel so author can only have 1 book in publication to date?!

Hmm... back to drawing board!

Ohhh I completely misinterpreted that prompt - my bad! Thanks for pointing that out for me :)

Gothie BioVenom (gotherellabiovenom) | 47 comments Looking at options for November.
Set in college/uni I was thinking about The Magicians by Lev Grossman

Thoughts on whether a magic college meets the prompt?

I also have no idea what to read in December because I'm caught up so far :p

As Chiara said previously we are open to interpretation so that would be fine if it was a YA book. Unfortunately The Magicians is not.

Gothie BioVenom (gotherellabiovenom) | 47 comments Ah, that was the other question I had. It did pop up in a YA list.

Anybody know of anything similar that is YA?
I'm not feeling a typical kind of college book.

Tien (tiensblurb) | 92 comments Re: college prompt

If I look for college setting books, most will have been shelved as New Adult noting MCs will probably be 18 or older. However, looking at Tash's examples above, it seems we're looking more for a school setting but not the typical high school. Is that right?

So, any of below may work?

Half-Blood (Covenant #1)
Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School #1)
An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes #1)
Evernight (Evernight #1)

Hi Tien,
New adult books are allowed as they're niche books and don't often get recognised. Two books I can think of in a college setting that are YA are Fangirl and Let's Talk About Love :)

November:

Judge it by its cover - Wild Beauty
Autistic protagonist - Viral Nation
Set at college/uni - Halloween Is Not A Verb
#LoveOzYA, a story of survival - Raven Flight

Here's a great list from Disability in Kid Lit for the third November prompt - autistic protagonist: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Just make sure it's the POV main character, as always :)

Marie Davies | 38 comments All I can say is thank the book god we have December to catch up! I’m soooo behind, just started my final Oct read. On this note, I would like to recommend ‘Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe’ by Benjamin Alire Sáenz - it’s fantastic :)

Marie Davies | 38 comments Hello YA Brains trust!

Would The Novice (Summoner #1) by Taran Matharu count for the 'college' November prompt? I'm trying to read books already on my shelf and this one is staring me in the face right now. I remember seeing this as a suggestion a little while back. Thoughts?

Mini blurb:-
When blacksmith apprentice Fletcher discovers that he has the ability to summon demons from another world, he travels to Adept Military Academy.
