I have chosen an bargain book I picked up a couple weeks ago. The Shadow of the WindOriginally with in Spanish.
I just finished this book. I LOVE books and read continually. I have a couple dozen books that I have read in my life that touch my to my core. I carried these with me whenever I move and are my permanent library. It's been years since I have added to my permanent library, tonight I added this book. It is so good I will read again and again.

This is a modern fairy tale type story about a boy from a tiny village in Kazakhstan. The mixture of old traditions and new modern influences was very well done. I got a bit confused with all the names at some points (it is a Russian author after all), but overall it was an enjoyably sad, quick read.
I. a little behind but I'm reading the stranger this week. hopefully the short length will allow me to catch up
This week I am delving into Cuban SciFi by reading Yoss 's A Planet for Rent, which was originally written in Spanish.

I had a long list of possible books for this week but I eventually decided to read Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder. It was originally written in Norwegian. I remember there being a copy of this on our family bookshelves when I was growing up. I always wanted to read it but never found time so I’m quite pleased to finally have the opportunity to read it.

I’m a bit behind, so I’m still finishing A Man Called Ove.What a treasure of a book! I can tell what all the hype is about!
I ended up re-reading Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea for this prompt. While I could easily do without the endless lists of flora and fauna, my imagination is recaptured by Nemo and his Nautilus every time.
What are you reading for this category?Just finished reading The Bat by Jo Nesbø
This was the first book in the series and I wasn't that impressed by it. Maybe I had been lead to expect far more due to the number of people who had urged me to read this author. I'm hoping future books are better.
What is the books original language?

I'm reading 12 translated books (each w a different genre) this year, for a different challenge. The book I'm reading this week is poetry- The Secret of Hoa Sen by Vietnamese poet Nguyen Phan Que Mai. It's beautiful and heart-breaking.
I'm reading The Story of the Lost Child by Elena Ferrante. It was originally written in Italian and it's the last volume in the 4 book series. I really recommend these books. They're fantastic and I hope that more people will know about them. Actually there's a good chance for that because HBO is producing a tv series based on the books and it is scheduled to premiere this year :)

I'm sad to say I've never read this book before, though I have been to the Anne Frank museum in Amsterdam and it was fascinating as well as heartbreaking. This isn't going to be a light-hearted read but it feels like an important read as a human.

I needed to read Nordic Noir for another challenge and selected The Bird Tribunalsince it was short. I wasn't expecting to enjoy the category so wanted something short. It just happened to be the first translated work I read for the year.
I’m in the middle of 172 Hours on the Moon. It was originally written in Norwegian and was also called DARLAH
Just finished The Vegetarian, so disturbing, I'm still thinking what to say about it. It definitely left an impression though.

Thank you Kelly. I also don't like series and I also don't like reading the same author back-to-back. A summertime release will be just perfect for me!

I read The Snowman by Jo Nesbo. I added it to my TBR after seeing the movie, and I thought it was even more interesting that it was written in Norwegian. I enjoyed the book much better than the movie, though. A bit long though..
