I'm joining the group reads for 2023 and forward. Georgette Heyer is too good not to reread.

Welcome Teri! Glad to see you here!

Hi, Teri. Welcome. We always like meeting fellow GH fans.

Welcome, Teri.
You're right, her books are perfect for re-reading!

Hello! I only discovered Georgette Heyer in 2015 and it took me until recently to really become a huge fan, it seems the more books I read the more her style grew on me. I'm happy to find this community, maybe through the group reads I'll reconsider some of the books that I didn't quite appreciate the first time around!
Anyway my first GH in 2015 was The Grand Sophy, and my most recent favorite was Arabella.

I hope you enjoy our group!
Currently we are reading The Talisman Ring & it is generating a lot of good discussion, but there is no obligation to join in with this or any other read! :)

I hope you enjoy our group!
I am enjoying it so far - reading The Talisman Ring along with y'all. I just posted my review! (In which I tried to cast the 1940 movie version that I totally think should have been made 😝)

Susan, Critterbee and QNpoohbear, thank you so much for the warm welcome! Looking forward to many lovely GH discussions with all of you fellow fans 😊

Welcome! I read your name as "Angel", too – and concluded you must be a guy since I first came across that name in Spain, where it's a guy's name: Ángel. Either way, it's rather lovely.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the group, it's great fun.

Well, thank you so much for the welcome, ladies! I'm happy to meet so many nice people who love GH.
I really don't mind "Angel" and I'm surprised how many people read it that way - but for the record, I am also a lady, LOL. It's ANGE_Lives_to_Read. Ange is a nickname almost everyone calls me, short for Andrea 😊.

I, too, started with These Old Shades--a long, long time ago. And i count Venetia as my #1 favorite. I envy your discovery journey. I still recall the thrill of 'discovering' a new (to me) Heyer book.

As for my Heyer journey, I read “A Convenient Marriage” about 2 years ago. I’ve read about a dozen since then. I’ve loved “Frederica” and “Arabella” but they are all a joy to read.
I try not to buy the books new but instead enjoy finding them like Easter eggs at used book stores. I was so thrilled when I visited Powell’s in Portland, OR last fall and saw a whole shelf of Heyer’s books!
Thanks all for the advice on the audiobooks. It sounds like they are a treat too.

Welcome, Donna! Love your analogy to Easter eggs - I’ve acquired several used books that way! Powell’s, wow, you lucky thing, my sister visited there a few years ago, her description made my mouth water - it sounds like heaven for book lovers…
I’ve become a big fan of audiobooks, in the hands of a talented narrator, even a much-loved, much-reread favorite becomes new!

Welcome Donna!
Frederica is one of the nominations for next month's read (i haven't got the poll up yet)
This month we are reading Friday's Child, but there is no obligation to join in any of the reads if you don't want to. :)

Glad to have a member who also loves Fridays Child. :)
We read it quite recently if you want to look at the threads in the Group Reads folder.

... and we could do things with them, like: 8-{ :O ;-) :-P :D :-/ ... couldn't we?

You started with one of my favorites. You are in for a good time with her books--very few duds in her output.

Thank you girls. I am in my mid-50s and been reading romance for years (along with other genres) but never got around to reading Ms Heyer - looking forward to catching up with her back catalogue.

I started reading her when I was 11 and have now read all her books. Venetia and Frederica are up there in my top favourites (along with The Grand Sophy) that I re-read regularly.
These Old Shades, Devil’s Cub, The Reluctant Widow, Arabella, Black Sheep and The Convenient Marriage are all ones I’d recommend. Enjoy!"
Thank you Susan! :)
I set my heart upon The Nonesuch as my next new Heyer listen.:)
I see that The Unknown Ajax is the current group read. I will see if I can fit that in as a re-read and maybe join the discussion at the end.
