Good for you. I wasted my time trying to finish it, since I can't bring myself to stop reading a book. :-(

Have put a note in Diary to remind me to let you know how it goes....

message 116: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Harris What is this Diary you speak of? Is that something cool on GR that I haven't found yet? Or is your own personal reminder system. I ask because I'd love to use it if it's on here.

Harriet | 81 comments Hi! I'm new to the group (and website).
Saw some comments earlier in this thread about The Host - read it a couple of months back, and I LOVED it! Am also desperately awaiting sequels :)
Most recently, just finshed Emma. I'm a massive Jane Austen fan and read the other 5 ages ago, but knowing that I only had 6 in total to read, have made myself wait to read Emma... finally gave in! Fantastic, as expected.

DJ - have you used Amazon.com on your Storm? You can take a picture of a book cover, send it to Amazon, and it will search for it for you and you can purchase it right from your phone. Love it!

Jessica...have you read The Graveyard Book? Or Anansi Boys? I have TGB sitting here from the library and I loved AB!

message 134: by Dean (new)

Dean (cowboys86) | 122 comments I just finished The Picture of Dorian Gray. Great book, the pacing was weird though. It would be slow going for a while and then all of a sudden you would jump 10 years down the line and loads of stuff would be happening. I felt Oscar Wilde could've made the book longer and fleshed out Dorian more than he already did. Still, a great read and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't done so.

A. (aekirk) | 4 comments Hush Hush. I didn't know if it would live up to the hype but I had high expectations and loved it!

message 142: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Jo...I really liked the first few, then really liked either #4 or #6....after that, I felt she brought in too many new characters and lost track of the original story...I didn't like the last ones as much...It will be interesting to see what you think!

I read The mermaid chair I thought it was good not great but I loved the discriptions of the landscape I felt I was there. Can't say I liked it better than Bees though I loved that one ;)
I just finished Water for Elephants I have had it on my shelf for over 6 months and never picked it up till one of my Goodreads clubs voted for it as a November pick. It had some grit to it and real heart from the male POV perspective enjoyed it!

message 144: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Karla...I loved The Secret Life of Bees...one of my favs....I think I gave Mermaid Chair 2 stars....maybe 1....I didn't care for it at all!!

message 145: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments I liked the Mermaid chair but read it long before I found much better books joining Goodreads!! I had no one to really talk books with besides my sister-in-law but she likes more cowgirl style romance stuff a bit fluffier stuff than me. When I read Secret life of bees I thought (poof) now this is the kind of books I'd like to find more of! Have you read The Help oh thats my favorite book this year!!

message 146: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Karla...funny you should ask about The Help! I just got an email from the library that the sound recording I requested is in!!! How am I going to fit that in???? I'll have to try though!

message 147: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments Oh I bet it would be good to listen to as well. My copy has post its all over the place marking my favorite lines and spots! I know what you mean about fitting it in though grrrr.....
