Leslie Shimotakahara (lshimo) I just finished reading Surfacing, an old Margaret Atwood novel that I recall reading many years ago during adolescence. Loved it! It brought back a turbulent period in my life. My full review can be read at www.the-reading-list.com

Ha ha. Yeah! I'm going to miss so many of those characters!! I'm heartbroken it's over. I've been reading them since before Thanksgiving and have absolutely no idea where to go from here.

message 618: by Jim (new)

Kerri Chris wrote: "I recently finished the Thirteenth Tale and loved it!"

I loved The Thirteenth Tale, too! In fact, I think I was so surprised with some of the twists at the end, I went back and reread the whole book right away just so I could see how everything played out with the secrets revealed. I wonder if she has published anything else since that one????

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I just finished Earth Abides. Wow. A very different take on the end of our civilization. Thought provoking.

message 632: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I didn't like it quite as much as some other apocalyptic novels, but this one is kind of the daddy of the modern ones. It was written in 1949 & deals more with how humans as a whole deal with it. My review is more specific & has a spoiler section, if you're interested. The top is non-spoiler.

Niamh - I read that a few months ago, and I still have a little chuckle to myself from time to time at some of the uber sharp dialogue.
